Payless ShoeSource

I have no problem admitting that I buy shoes at Payless… in fact, I usually buy the same pair over and over again, and I only buy them during the BOGO sales… They have enough to choose from, they’re way cheaper then a department store… what’s not to love…

OMG here is a review for ‘this place”. I used to shop here on occasions.
Lots of low cost shoes of all types. Staff very busy and at times can be helpful.
I quit going here due to traffic and parking… you know, it’s Seattle and you have to think about how you spend your time for your rewards! I never found shoes which fit. most sizes were for average width feet and many were made of kind of plastic. not gonna work.
For families and others with different size needs. could be a bonzana!

I have seen better, bigger Payless stores. This one is the closest to me though so it’s the one I come too most often. Good deals on kids’ shoes. The younger kids haven’t reached the age where they think Payless shoes are beneath them (yay!) and with the rate their feet grow (I swear my toddler went from a 5 to a 7 ½ in about 3 months!) it just wouldn’t make sense to go somewhere fancy to buy their shoes. Who cares if they don’t have some fancy name on them? My kid will tromp through dog crap and mud and cover up that fancy label in no time so why bother? And my girls just like cute stuff and yes Payless does indeed sell cute stuff for girls. This location is pretty tiny but like I said it’s close to home and the cashiers are all friendly, sure they’re reading off a script but oh well.

I shop at Payless. There! I said it!

I have one word for you: BOGO!
For those unfamiliar, that stands for Buy One, Get One ½ off. It only happens a few times a year (OK, more like once a month), and I try and take advantage (every time). Don’t judge. I’m on a budget.
OK, so they’re pretty shoddily made and don’t last that long, but you wouldn’t believe the compliments I get on some of my Payless shoes. You just have to go in with an open mind, and you never know what you’ll come out with.
But if you’re anything like me, you’ll come out with four pairs of shoes.

OMG! PLEASE STOP!
That’s what I wanted to scream when I was in here.
I landed in here for two reasons:
1. My flip flops were so worn that I could feel small bits of dirt under foot.
2. I didn’t pack sneakers for hiking in Olympic National Forest and my flip flops.well.see #1.
So I find my delicious mint chocolate shoes and grab some socks at the register where I was met by the manager.
«Did you find everything?»
«Yes I did!»
«Socks are 2 for $ 10. Do you want another pack?»
«No.»
“We have BOGO ½ off. Did you want to get another pair?”
«…no…»
She proceeded to try to get me to buy a wide variety of other items even though I kept saying no. Next up was the man behind me decided he wanted to stand right next to me, touching me… so when I asked him to give me some space he just dropped his mouth open and starred.
The manager had to yell to get him to form a line behind me…
I was so frustrated that I hit cancel on the key pad and when I finally left I wanted to run… run in my thin as paper flip flops no matter how painful it might’ve been!

I’m not a Payless hater– I typically love a great deal, and have had much better luck at other local Payless stores. But this one pretty much blows.
I had little criteria that I wanted met in looking for shoes before my trip to Mexico: one pair comfortable flip-​flops (NOT rubber between the toe ala 2/​$ 5 at Target), and one pair light-​weight comfy shoes w/​rubber tread (should I go walking in the city). I enter store. Annoying 19 year old employee near screaming volume, «Hi there, let me know if I can help you out with anything!» Ew, no thank you. Enter the aisle which has the shoes in my size. Find some worthy enough options. Cannot sit down while removing old & trying on new shoes because jackass 8 year old is sitting there playing Game Boy while he waits for his mother to make what appears to be the most important decision of her life between these two pairs of shoes (frankly, I’d have stopped making decisions if I were her after she made such an annoying child, but I digress). Repeatedly lose balance as I try on shoes that for the most part are uncomfortable or fit horribly. Listen again to horrible 8 year old whine to mother, «You said I could get that game… Just pick that one, there, now we can leave to gooooooo get that gaaaaaaammmmme.» Ugh. I grab the two pairs of shoes that are the least painful and make my purchase, I just need to get away from that child before I smash his Game Boy against the wall. Get home, wear new rubber tread shoes to bar that night. Realize that shoes (slip on style) annoyingly slip OFF mid step a good majority of the time.
Wished I had saved that money and taken it somewhere to buy a more expensive but more worthy pair of shoes. Lesson learned.

Payless is what Payless is. You Payless for shoes. No one is going to assist you in trying these 12.99 babys on.
Instead you drop your bags, sit on the stool, take your shoe off, try one one, realize it is to small. Take it off, stand up go hopping down the aisle in search of the next size up.

Great for Croc look alikes done by airwalk and great for their buy one get one sales.
Oh and avoid the shoes with the rope soles they wont last beyond that beach vacation.
