Journeys

I found a pair I liked and was immediately helped by a staff member. He brought out 4 different sizes and even another pair that is completely different. But he just handed me the display unit and said that was the only remaining size that might work for me. During the time I tried on the shoes, he talked up a storm trying to up-​sell me on nylon no-​show socks and waterproof spray.
I like the shoes and everything, but guess what I found when I got home:
gum permanently smeared all over the inside of left shoe.
They sell you the lowest quality shoes imaginable. Actually, unimaginable, because who would have thought that they would find disgusting gum inside the shoe? And, why would anyone in their right minds knowingly sell you the pair with gum smeared inside? I found it odd that the staff was too hasty trying to close the sale, but now I know why. Don’t buy shoes from here.

G: I need new Converse.
V: Well, dumbass, we ARE in a mall.
G: Shoe store over there.
V: Fantastic.
G needed SPECIFIC shoes. She wanted red lowtop IN HER SIZE.
Somehow (and I’m not sure if this is a reflection on her, me, or them) they talked her into black lowtop in one size too small («because they stretch a lot»).
I picked up a package of socks and it was like a hard sell hydrogen bomb went off in there. Sweet Baby Jesus, make it stop.
All the way out of the mall, G was bitching and moaning that she just paid 50 bucks for shoes she didn’t REALLY want.
I kept suggesting that we take them back and check at one of the multiple shoe purveyors in the mall.
This morning, G called to ask if I wanted to go to the mall with her. She’s taking the damn shoes back.

Journeys is a great place to find a great pair of converse, or an afternoon conversation. I always seem to quickly make friends with their helpful, reliable, and witty staff. Obviously, its not the Nordstrom shoe department, and your choices are limited to the modern-​day selections of teens; shoes later to be paired with jeans and a comical t-​shirt. However, it serves its purpose with ease and welcomeness.
