We made a reservation two weeks ahead and received a confirmation email. On the day we show it states that the restaurant is closed and that they are on holidays. It would have been nice to know about this instead of travelling through the rain just to discover the restaurant is closed. Not very professsional.

Very nice. The ambiance is a bit dark. I am not fond of this style. Like Mystique in the Utrechtse straat and V hotel, I like light, but ok. The menu was a bit grubby too, but I guess they were well loved. Now the food. It was very nice. We had a friend select for us and she knew her dimsum. My favourite was the garlic oisters. The waiter knew his drinks. Even down to the G&T he gave advice on different gins. The wine complemented the food and he made sure our glasses were full. I will definitely be back.

A dim sum with cocktail does sound like s great and innovative idea especially if you are looking for an original place to spend an evening with your friends. unfortunately i was a bit sick the day we visited so i could not taste their cocktails so i will focus more on the food side. Let me start by saying that they owners have take a great deal in investing in the atmosphere and the decoration of the place. I really liked the pink lighting fixture and the Chinese Mao posters on the wall. Also service wise we were more that just pleased since they did take good care of our needs and they were fast at delivering. But that’s all. Food wise the place is just ok. Very limited menu on dim sum and very dutchified(with no disrespect). I mean the reason you go to a place like these is for cocktails and dim sum if there is no dim sum or if you just have a basic menu of Asian related and based food then why don you just say Asian cuisine and cocktails. The food was well done and presented but that still did not impress me. My suggestion is try to make a more authentic menu with more options. I like the idea it just it missing the character

Oee today I tried Oolong Kitchen in the evening and it was pretty good I must say! It looked very trendy and the bar looked very good as well. They have 2 areas, one with the bar and some tables(even great rounded tables) and other area was more the ‘dining’ area where most people were sitting. Unfortunately the dining area was already packed, so we were sitting at the bar area with just 2 other visitors. In total I tried 4 dishes: — deep fried shrimp dumplings: very crunchy with every dumpling placed on a small dish with sweet sour sauce next to it — sashimi: really fresh tuna & salmon sashimi!!! — shitake siu mai: the siu mai was really good, great temperature(I like it when it is so fresh and hot!) with mushroom and tasty sauce — vegetable dumplings: was also very good and fresh I had the Oolong ice tea drink which was also refreshing in a big glass and service was overall good! Next time I will definitely try the cocktails :)

I had some pretty high expectations for Oolong but did not have any expectation that those expectations would be met, if that makes sense. I know that London has been full of more«upper class» Chinese/Asian joints for a while, but wasn’t sure whether we would see this in Amsterdam. That being said, those London joints are exorbitantly expensive and while the food is good, it’s difficult to justify paying 50 pounds per person for dim sum. So, I was expecting something along those lines — fantastic food at unbelievable(not in a good way) prices. First off, the menu is very fairly priced. We went for dinner, so I didn’t get to try their whole assortment of dim sum items, and can only testify for the Sharing Menu at € 24,95 p.p. This menu included a siu mai soup, which had a lovely clear broth, and nice wontons/siu mai with a great, slightly crunchy texture; followed by a small sample of their dimsum(4 different types, mainly variations of har gou/shrimp dumplings), which had a lovely, supple wrapping; beef with broccoli and cashew chicken, which were both very tasty; ending with a sorbet complemented with lychees and grass jelly. Cocktails were also very good, and above all, service was maybe the best I’ve experienced in Amsterdam so far. The only hiccup was a mix-up during the middle of the meal when our waiter forgot our drinks, but he was very apologetic and the service for the rest of the meal by far made up for it.
