I’ve only gotten takeaway and delivery from here. Being from Toronto I definitely miss good Chinese food and was hoping this place would become my regular as it’s close to my house. I went here because of the good reviews. Though overall I found the food okay. Nothing great and a bit pricey for what you get though of course this is Amsterdam. I stopped going there because I just found it wasn’t worth the money. Staff is friendly there though.

To each his own; I realize most of you guys are not impressed with this place.
For us two tourists starving at 7 PM, we found it fantastic.
What’s more — it was still great the next morning (my beef and veggies as well as the Chinese broccoli were tops!)
My husband loved my food as well as his own, the lemon chicken, and the soups (wonton and an egg drop variation) were really good too.
We’ve had some bad luck with Chinese food in the past several years, and were super excited to have such delicious, authentic Chinese food in such a random spot as Amsterdam.
I agree that it tasted like home-​cooking, and that was more than fine by us.
Sadly the service was pretty atrocious, but we were super duper happy with our delicious food! Five stars all the way! :)

The times I have been here I have always ordered take-​out. Primarily; egg rolls, prawn dim sum, prawns in curry, and the peking duck in plum sauce. Nothing spectacular, but it is tasty and came out quickly.
The staff at the bar was friendly and polite.
I enjoyed the food and there was plenty of it. Since it is close to home, I will be back.

Overall a decent Chinese restaurant. I’ve been here a couple times and the service has been both excellent and average… Just varies on who’s working. At the least they’re all quite polite, but you may have a challenge if you don’t speak Dutch and have questions about the menu. The food is tasty for the most part, but some dishes are just alright. Sweet and sour chicken for example is just average but their won ton soup is stellar! Best thing about Nam Kee is that their menu is basically a book — a good place for groups as everyone will find something they like.

The two stars is not indicate that the food was terrible, it’s just that I have had better. And I’m not too sure if it’s because I’m from Vancouver, and many people tell me that the second best Chinese food is here (the first being China of course).
I went here after a travel guide recommended it, and based on the culture of Holland, I don’t think there’s a lot of options for Chinese food.
I would describe as more of higher end Chinese home cooking. I didn’t feel that it was anything special. In my opinion Lonely Planet made it sound better than it was. Would I go back, probably not.
