We have many locals but this one always seems to fall off the radar for whatever reason! After walking (well rushing because raaaaain) past it one night, I managed to catch out of the corner of my eye– their gin menu. I must get a photo next time but they have quite a few gins on the shelf and they’re all prepared beautifully!
The only odd thing was how quiet it was when we were there. Behind the bar, the barman– of course and what appeared to be a regular also at said bar and that was it. Maybe it was just a quiet night?
Doesn’t matter, I can now add this new number to my local and I think it’ll crop up again when I’m in the mood for some fancy gin and tonics!

Cozy little café in the Albert Cuypstraat, located next to De Groene Vlinder. Even on a busy night, when everyone is standing outside on the street because the café’s (Flamingo, Groene vlinder etc) are just to crowded, Café Toko is pretty quiet. I do not understand why really, since it is such a nice place, but I’m glad, since I prefer to sit inside instead of standing outside. The music in the place is nice and the bartenders are friendly. The long couch is very comfortable and the house wine is really good!
You can also smoke inside.
