This is an unassuming Mexican restaurant in one of Cat City’s many strip malls. I’d heard they had hand-made tortillas, so that was enough to make us try it out. Décor is the usual mish-mash and 3 tvs playing the usual overheated telenovelas. The menu is extensive, and the prices are very cheap. They have two or three daily specials — today’s were 4 beef tacos & a drink for $ 3.99 and I think a quesadilla lunch for a buck more. I’m not sure how they stay in business at these price points. Anyway, I settled on the huevos rancheros for $ 6.50, and it was excellent. It reminded me very much of being in Mexico — simple and delicious. The dish included jalapenos that were cooked enough to remove some of the heat without losing all the kick. Companion liked the huevos con chorizo, but didn’t think they were as good as my huevos. The server, who was very nice, brought maybe 8 hand-made corn tortillas, and they were absolutely delicious and added to the experience. Now I’m stoked to try the rest of the menu and plan to return soon to sample some enchiladas, or maybe the mole. The cuisine is in the style of Oaxaca, the birthplace of mole. A nice, crazy-affordable find.
