Order two Shrimp Ceviche tostadas to go and I paid for two and they only gave me one. I hate feeling ripped off. I won’t be back

They have the best ceviche tostadas! My favorite part about coming here is listening to the mariachi that performs here every weekend. They are very fun and sound terrific! If you’re also looking for a good chabela this would be the place!

Loved the food. Ordered the shrimp cocktail and the fish. Wow, we enjoyed our food and we’re pleasantly surprised with the quality and flavor. This place is a must to try. Catch them on a Friday night for mariachi music.

Recommended by someone in the know when i asked for his favorite place to eat authentic Mexican food. We were a trio of gringos in an established hispanic restaurant. They kindly answered our questions and were helpful on the level of spice offered. Guacamole and chips were delicious(medium size guac was perfect for three of us); Tortas were outstanding, anything Pastor(fried pork) was mouth-watering(taco, quesadilla). Tried chavelas for the first time, and like anything new, I could get used to this traditional beverage of beer with tomato(juice?) pretty easily. Don’t be intimidated, go and enjoy some really good food. I aslo noted there were a lot of take-out orders. Might be a fun meal to bring home.

If you want to try a bomb of flavors try Santa Fe Coachella or Cathedral City, yes indeed the service is a bit slow and is because the food is actually fresh, not like your topical refried beans, dry rice or normal tacos. Taste the flavors and you will be hooked. If you come Friday or Sunday the Mariachi show is awesome, my favor is how they get the audience involve. If you your food takes a little long have 2 chavelas also made to order. LOVEIT!!!’

I’ve come here on three occasions every time was a bad experience. The service is horrible and the food is not good at all. Very unprofessional the way the staff treat customers. Worst campechana I’ve ever had.

Horrible Service, service here is non– existent. Chabela’s and food is horrible not fresh and seems a bit dirty here the only decent thing here and the only reason why I gave it 2 stars is because of their Mango ceviche not bad. I’ll stick to El Portal, Now El Portal is Real always Fresh, Amazingly Delicious and Authentic Mexican absolutely love it at El Portal they’re the best Mexican restaurant out there without a doubt and always consistent.

I had to visit this after trying some ceviche offsite from the owner’s brother. The flavors and tartness were huge. So at the last minute this week, I grabbed two friends and went to lunch. We tried two ceviches but meant to order one plus a goblet that look like giant shrimp cocktails. I don’t think our server heard me when I tried to describe the latter. I should have simply shown her a Unilocal photo and go from there. The mixed fish ceviche worked well, the octopus, not so much. I had to douse it with additional lime. The steak enchilada was satisfying. Again, pouring a condiment over it(hot sauce) gave it a flavor boost, but I enjoyed it overall and finished this very large plate. While it isn’t on the strip or close to downtown scene, this is worth a little drive up Ramon Road to eat here. I’m going back to try that goblet!

This is a very small restaurant, which used to house Joe’s Crazy Sushi. The size of the place wouldn’t be an issue, except on my visit, there were two TVs turned to two different stations — both with the sound on, and then right after I got there, a guy came in, sat at the table next to me, and started playing Mexican music through his phone. It was a bit much. Nevertheless, I ordered three tacos; one each with abodabo, carnitas, and chorizo. Each of the tacos tasted okay, but I found all of the meats to be a bit on the dry side, while the carnitas was also a little fatty. Service was friendly, though not terribly attentive. The pricing on the street-style tacos is not bad($ 1.25 each), but I prefer the flavors and ambiance at El Portal, which is just around the corner.
