This is our first time at this Hotel. The check in process was speedy and painless. Once we got to our rooms(2) we noticed a musty smell. The rooms were adequate. The beds were comfortable and clean. This place offered free breakfast and dinner. Dinner this evening was sub-par at best but this is expected. The staff, however, was friendly. Due to the smell, 2 stars!

This hotel is good, and I wouldn’t mind staying here again. I’m just not as impressed as I normally am with Homewood Suites. The carpet isn’t especially clean which has been skeeving me out a bit for the past few days I’ve been here. Also the water does not get hot in the shower. Warm. But not hot. I need scorching heat and I’m not feeling it. I do like the basketball court, though!

Have to agree with other reviews. Hilton Honor member and booked online. I arrived nothing out of the ordinary. Staff not really friendly or welcoming as other Hilton venues greet you. I reserved a 1 bedroom Suite and was given a 1 bedroom studio. It was a one night stay so didn’t want to mess with it until checkout. I informed the front desk of this and it happened to be the same person. She stated that it was a 1 bedroom and I agreed but that it was a studio and not a suite which is what I had paid for. She went on to say she was sorry and that it was not my fault. Ahh yeah I know it’s my fault but maybe hers for issuing me the wrong room. That totally puzzled me by the comment. Room was clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable. Breakfast was okay not much choice. Potato and egg, tortillas and refried beans with stale pastries. Fruit cocktail and coffee was good and option of juice was okay. I’ve stayed here before never had this experience and maybe new staff and management.

Pretty darn good. Not the fanciest for its price range and the staff is not the friendliest, but the rooms are pretty large with full kitchens, dishes(even a dishwasher!) and the free dinner with beer and wine M-Th is a great bonus! The food is not awesome quality — definitely prepackaged frozen stuff — but it’s free and after two glasses of free wine, well, who cares! I’ll stay here again next time I’m through Brownsville.

Room freshly painted, so furniture was everywhere! I shouldn’t have to rearrange my room upon arrival. Carpet was dirty and worn, but the beds were soft and comfortable, and the room was large. Free dinner m-th nights, and free hot breakfast every day. Not as good as most homewood’s, but it’ll do.

I will agree with the other reviewers on the smell of the rooms. It was overpowering when I opened the door. Overall a nice place to stay for a quick night. Most of the food options are across the other side of the freeway. Rooms had a nice kitchen that was ready for cooking. I was only there for one short night so take my review for what its worth!

The room had a little too much smell of cleaning products. Pinesol or something. I like to get lots of ventilation at night. The curtains pulled side-to-side and the windows opened up and down, so I had to deal with parking lot lights all night. But they provided free breakfast AND free dinner, so that was nice. Computer AND printer in the business center, so I could print out my maps. Overall very nice.

This hotel property was badly managed. Upon arrival I noticed the grounds look very depressed and in need of some lawn care. I checked in received a room went to the room, only to notice that someone stuff was already there or that room was still occupied. Went back to front desk explained the situation they had no Idea that the room was taken. After that was taking care of, I was given a room. The room was a nice 1 bedroom suite with king with 2 flat screen TVs; perfect for a family of four. Forward to day two we wanted to go swimming so we go to the pool; only to see that it is under construction. Under construction on a busy holiday weekend, bad management. They sent us to the Holiday Inn next door which is managed by the same company. It too was no biggie It looked like the old school holiday inn your grandparents use to go to. After that I thought this place is totally getting 1 star. To top things off the WIFI never worked, and free breakfast was not worth the time getting out of bed. They served that fake Sunny D/Tampico juice and try to pass it as OJ. Which is totally out of character for Hilton brand name place. Overall Homewood Suites is a cool place but you have to pass on this particular location, due to the management. I would suggest the La Quinta on Alton Gloor; or the Staybrige Suites off 77.
