Vamos a Ver has been my favorite Spanish restaurant in Amsterdam; authentic with a Spanish heart-feel to it. Hidden in a street behind the Albert Cuyp market you’ll find this place that could also be found in a village in Spain. One remark I have to make: it does look too cosy-gezellig for a restaurant in Spain, as it lacks the bright TL lights. Don’t get me wrong. Although some things have been improved on the interior over the last gets, the interior still does not get 5 stars. But in my opinion that comes with good Spanish food, as food is really more important than the setting. The paella is truly delicious(also according to my Spanish husband) and one of the best I have had outside of Spain. The tapas I have tried were also good. There are even tapas you would probably not find in any other: pimientos de Padrón and pulpo a la Gallega. Having said this, «Vamos a Ver»: «We will See»(each other again).

Overall tapas were very nice also according my Catalonian friend, but the tapas was too greasy and salty.

Vamos a ver is an unpretentious, authentic Spanish food place. They don’t only serve tapas but also full meals. The portions are generous but fear not, the food is good! I happily enjoyed the slightly toasted bread with the yummy home-made allioli that brought back memories of Spain. That’s how an aioli’s supposed to taste, it was certainly the best I had so far in Amsterdam. And also the main, Solomillo a la plancha, was fully to my taste, I really enjoyed these 2 tender, juicy steaks. The staff is genuinely friendly. Not the typical Spanish exuberant-vocal friendly but definitely makes you feel welcome and want to come back.
