i’ll admit i wasn’t looking for Catalan cuisine in Amsterdam, but it was Valentine’s day, i was alone and hungry, and Taverna Barcelona was decently rated and had an available table. the place has a nice, casual vibe with Joan Miró, Picasso, and Els Quatre Gats on the walls. the food perhaps wasn’t stock Barcelona tapas, but i’m no purist as long as it’s quality, and that it was. simple and delicious. roasted red pepper, grilled eggplant, and anchovie tapas was a standout, perfect combination of flavors and texture, on great bread. baked potato with house aioli was tasty as well. would go again if in the neighborhood.

So Tapas in Amsterdam… not too rare a site. Here things were just kinda ‘ok’. The food was nice but not stellar. The space was nice but nothing special. So its a nice yet unremarkable place to get a bit of Barcelona in Amsterdam.
