This is a great café that we have visited many times. The owner Daniel has made us feel like locals while staying nearby on our trip to Amsterdam. Breakfasts are great. For a lite fare we like the yogurt and muesli or just simply a croissant and coffee. If feeling like more, the ham and egg pancakes were a savory treat! Lunch is equally as delicious. The sandwiches come on the freshest bread! Simple food but excellent. All of the staff we have met are wonderful. They overheard that it was my husband’s birthday and brought out a muffin with sparklers and sang to him. This place really made us feel right at home.

I’m visiting Amsterdam and have decided to investigate café culture. Today, I experienced some of the worst of it. My mom was served rancid zucchini soup and was forced to pay for it. Does it help that the waitress mentioned that she had prepared it the day before? No, that is gross and not a good way to run your business. It was if they wanted us to leave the café. I would not recommend this place.

This is a cozy little café that is a great place to hang out on Utrechtstraat. The employee turned owner of the establishment puts out his best efforts to turn it into the popular place it’s become. It’s nice to see an owner putting his personal touch into his business. It’s well worth it. There’s a nice selection of food and drink as well as a terrace to hang out in when the weather is good. It’s also dog friendly.

Awesome mushroom soup, nice atmosphere and friendly service. The window tables are great for looking at passersby and the sky.

I’ve been here for small bites and drinks. The staff is always on the ‘cool’ side and seem to prefer flirting with each other and their regulars in the evening but during the day are efficient enough. The upstairs hosts a nice balcony and the seating is comfy, although in the evenings it gets so full that on nice and even not-so-nice nights, a decent sized crowd spills out the door. There is some seating out there, but usually the Dutchies end up standing around on the street right outside the door. Usually it’s a young, hip crowd who go there after work or to be seen on the weeks. The music is really good and at a volume just loud enough to get caught up in a buzz but still be able to hold a conversation. Decent selection of wine and beer, but I’d say people go there for the atmosphere over the choice of drinks. Check it out if you are in the neighborhood and want an peek into the fun life of a Dutch 20something.

Fun spot. Good crowd. Cozy, good music. Located on the hip Utrechtstraat and in the midst of awesome shopping, delicious dining and a fun nightlife. I’m a fan. Younger, attractive crowd. Can’t go wrong. :)
