The owners are great, and make an effort to get to know you and your name, actually all the bar tenders are like this. There is a good selection of beer and the food is great, contrary to a previous review. This place is wonderful not to mention they have free pool and bocce ball. It attracts a nice friendly crowd. It is my normal place to go and bring friends.

Beautiful aesthetics, great ambiance, delicious pulled pork. What else can a girl ask for? Attention to detail is on point. Warm and cozy patio with a romantic fire pit. The owner really cares about people having a great time and are well taken care off. And he’s kinda cute.

Came here with a group of ladies and had a blast! The owner was so nice and moved tables together to accommodate our large group. The food was very good and so were the drinks! I appreciated that by our table the TV had a hockey game on and I got to see Ty Rattie(former Portland Winterhawk) score for the Blues! Too many times ‘bars’ have football and basketball games playing — so this was a treat! All the ladies had a great time! I would love to return.

1st visit was good. Second and third not so much :( Seems that if there are more than one group the owner gets pissy and unfriendly. Food is really good though.

Drinks here are pretty good! Love the old fashioned choices they offer. The clam chowder is some of the best on the planet and the Tornado Potatoes are unrealistically delicious. Love this place! Definitely will be coming back.

They used to have great vegan chili but just randomly stopped making it. Still it’s a fun atmosphere with a pool table upstairs. The tornado fries are great and a large portion.

A solid beer and booze selection and accessible program make this laid-back spot a Mississippi must. Portland has a lot of hoity-toity bars, and a lot of fun dive bars, but The Rambler represents a comfortable and welcoming middle-ground that I’m glad to see. The staff was personable and attentive, the music was cool, and the atmosphere is simple and relaxing. I’m looking forward to spending more time in this spot.

Exceptional fish tacos. Good smattering of microbrews. Owners tend the bar themselves and are excellent bartenders. Comfortable interior. Awesome back yard patio. Good selection of games including bocce ball.

I’d recommend David T see a doctor instead of airing his stomach problems out on Unilocal.I’ve been in this neighborhood for years and seen it change names at least three times. When Chris and Christian took it over, there was an immediate and incredibly impressive uptick in business. It became my neighborhood bar. Contrary to what hipsters will tell you about how the bar lost its feel when they ditched the swings(truth be told my initial reaction), a closer look will review a keen attention for detail. Chris has curated this establishment very well. It’s understandably why the swings are gone. As fun as it was, it did create a cliquey vibe. D Bag Dave was right about one thing, Jason is great and should be trusted. The food is very good. Must try the simplest item, the tornado potatoes. Give this place a try. You won’t regret it.

I LOVE The Rambler! The food is amazing… I can’t say I’ve been out much in the past few years as I have new kiddo’s but a friend invited me to go and I had the best time. My husband had 3 different drinks from the drink menu and loved them all. We had the Frito Pie and Tornado Potatoes(named something like this) They were both delicious!

Great prices during happy hour. The best part is they have happy hour everyday. I loved the tornado fries especially with the aoli sauce. I will definitely go back and try more cocktails and food.

It’s a shame that you can’t leave a 0 star review for an establishment. I would have to say that my experience was below par. It seems like they want to do a «Texas theme», but when the owner is from Vermont, it’s kinda hard to get that true Tex-Mex feel. I guess it’s true what they say about people from Vermont. «They only own 3 spices. Salt, pepper, and ketchup». While I’d like to say that my experience was completely unsatisfying, that wouldn’t be completely true. The cocktail I had was fantastic. A guy by the name of Jason made it and it was superb. Iv’e never met someone with more of a cocktail passion in my life. He’s gotta be a bar manager or something with as awesome of a job he is doing. If you take more notes from that guy, you might be alright. What I’m truly disappointed in was that they removed the swings from what was the previous establishment. A poor choice on their part. They used to have the best patio in Portland. Now it’s just a bunch of tables and a tv that looks to be like 10 years old. Come on guys. You can do better than that. I would recommend avoiding the Frito Pie. The Horse meat they use will keep you running for the toilet for 3 days!

The atmosphere in this bar is terrific. Awesome wooded tables, great patio, sunday football games. Playing Johnny Cash and Elvis music that sounded great. Upstairs area with pool table and record player where you can play your own records!!! Great service. Hands down 5 stars!

Really perfect little place with great atmosphere and personality. I came on a slow lunch so service was quick and plenty of space to get comfortable. The happy food was amazing and they have games, a patio, fireplace and nice staff. Highly recommend.

This is such a beautiful yet casual and comfortable spot! From the street, you can’t tell but the back patio(with a big screen and fire pits and heaters is amazing! Every cocktail I tried was fantastic–(thanks Jason and Chris!) and the Russell sprouts and Frito pie were So. Good. I definitely have a reason to venture north of NW now!

My fiancé and I were in Portland for a Labor Day getaway from SF and stumbled upon the Rambler, and boy were we glad we did. We chatted with the owner, Chris, and he was so incredibly welcoming. The bartenders were fantastic, the fish tacos were delicious, and the overall atmosphere of the bar was just awesome. I’m looking forward to returning here when we(hopefully) move to Portland and enjoying a beer outside by the fire pits. Thanks Chris!

So this bar is just starting out and it has the potential to be cool. It’s like a house and you can sit out front, inside, or out back. They have bocce ball on the side and two fire pits, one up front and 1 out back. All of which are great. They have 1 bar on the inside, which they should have more than 1 bar because the way the main bar is situated it’s really tough to get to, the tables inside are too close to it so everyone gets cramped right there and there is not enough room. The food menu is not healthy haha but they have 1 salad which I think might be seasonal because the one I saw had peaches in it. I had the chicken tenders which were really yummy but they did not give enough of the sauce(which was delicious!) the fries were okay, they’re like wedge cut fries but they are just in a spiral so they’re called tornado fries the drinks? tastey but kinda meh. They definitely were not strong at all, pretty weak. And not the biggest selection of beer but I think everyone could find something they wanted to drink there like I said, they have potential. It’d be interesting to watch them grow

I’ve been here twice already and am very excited for this great new addition to an already awesome street. The interior implements repurposed wood throughout and feels very rustic and comfortable. They have a rad mural of motorcycles as you enter, which I love. Both the front and back patios are HUGE and there’s a fire pit for each. They also have Bocce Ball! I’ve received nothing but friendly service and the staff seem really excited about being here. My first visit I had the sidewinders(their version of French fries) and the(B)Russell Sprouts. Seriously, so freakin good. To drink I had a couple of their house cocktails, each of which was a well rounded blend of flavors that satisfied all my boozey needs. I especially loved the Annie Oakley, but then again I’m a sucker for lavender, and in combination with Gin it was heaven in my mouth. My second visit was just a quick stop for lunch and I had the Frito Pie. Bomb. Get this. Seriously. I had it with the Duke and the smoked honey and whiskey complimented the brisket chili perfectly. I’ll be a regular here, for sure. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Shifting gears from what this old location once was and quickly getting it up to speed for the masses is The Rambler. These guys cleaned up the location immensely. The entire location has been remodeled with a beautiful wood bar and a good selection of brown spirits and gins. A very approachable menu with several house cocktails and a couple of barrel aged cocktails poured from the barrels right behind the bar. The food has a Southwest style on it. We had the Frito Pie and Chili… Amazing. I’m not often a member of the clean plate club nor do I often Unilocal about anything other than service but all three of these things were on par and professional. We hung out near the firepit(they have 2) and watched some folks play Bocce ball located on the side. All and all I look forward to many nights here on one of my favorite streets. Welcome Rambler. Cheers!
