Great music venue, a good looking room(cool chandeliers) with great sound. Nice fire pit and patio. $ 5 for a pint, to be expected. Would recommend.

Awesome venue, probably my favorite in Portland and they do a great job of selecting bands. There double cheeseburger is also one of the best I’ve ever had!

Great medium-sized venue with a balcony with seating(I would recommend sitting upstairs). Great views and cozy feeling. The drinks were well-priced($ 5 for a Freshly Squeezed?). Would like to go back.

Been here for many shows, and the sound and atmosphere don’t disappoint. I even had to deal with management after an issue at the door, and they were prompt and respectful. Look forward to going again.

I am thankful for this medium sized venue. You can get close to the performer. You don’t have to deal with bad seating and nose bleed seats. There prob isn’t a bad seat in the house. One thing that I don’t understand is why sound people do not put the volume level up for the opening acts? Only for the main act does the sound get turned up to full and all of the speakers turned on. The main act gets all the levels balanced. Why? Especially when sometimes the opening act is just as talented as the main act. I also wish this venue would put speakers toward the back of the venue. If you are standing by the staircase and some obnoxious people are talking though the entire show, it would be nice to have some speakers there to drown them out. Another annoyance is that I had 1 inch of beverage left in my glass. The guy working the room to pick up all the cups, reaches over and throws out my drink. I wasn’t done yet. Grrrr! Well… we like this venue and it is’t our first time here and it won’t be our last.

This venue is really great for intimate shows — but definitely be prepared to stand! There is a bevy of drink options, and they have a full bar, so you won’t be thirsty. It would have been nice to enjoy different angles, but the smaller space doesn’t allow for much movement once you’re in the mix. I’d recommend arriving really early if you want to be closer to the stage — and for the shorties like myself… you’ll just have to deal either way ;)

Unbelievably nice, courteous and accommodating staff, not to mention an awesome place to see a show. One of the best venues I have ever been to.

I had three separate recommendations of this place so new I had to check it out. The music venue is separate from the main bar area but still a very intimate atmosphere for a show. The two bands, more folk rock, were very talented. Be prepared to have cash as the venue only accepts cash for entry. This is definitely must see Portland spot.

Something is wrong here. Just saw a show at Mississippi Studios on July 29, 2015. Both performances were great, well, the one and a half performances we were allowed to see. Thanks to Portland’s own Ancient Heat and Australia’s Sticky Fingers for going all out to make sure that all of us in the audience had a great time, well, until management turned the lights on and shut the show down early without warning or explanation. A complete insult to the artists and those of us in the audience. No apologies, no announcement, nothing. Just«Get out, show is over.» Everyone was rudely ushered out. People were dumbfounded. The band was furious and the audience was confused. I heard a mix of «wait, that’s it?», «What happened?». This was met with aggressive language and threats from the management crew amounting to «Get the **** out or else.» Clearly once you’ve purchased your ticket Mississippi Studios couldn’t care less about the customers or the performers. Can’t believe an establishment could be so all around rude and disrespectful. You won’t see me there again.

My friend and I came here while we were visiting Portland. I like how spacious it is, and I went on a very crowded night. I loved the DJ that was there that night, and the atmosphere is defiantly cool. I would go again when I visit Portland the next time.

Great place for a show. I love how dark it gets when they turn down the lights. You can see the band so clearly. The staff was very friendly.

This place is super fun and a great and easy going place to watch a band. I would definitely return for anything here! I saw Of Monsters and Men play here last week and it was great, not too crazy and a laid back environment in general. I’d love to try the food next time. The beer was great!

Here tonight to see Rumer(artist) she was amazing and I just love this place. The stage lighting is great and the sound system is very nice. The vocals are clear and are not washed out. Upstairs seating has a restroom. Rock on !

Led Zeppelin, Grateful Dead, Howlin’ Wolf… what’s not to like? Great vinyl and music items store tucked into a quite peaceful area of Albina. There’s a café you can get a bite at too if you are needing nourishment. Friendly staff, they pretty much mind their own business unless you have a question of want to listen to some tunes. It’s a neat little oasis of times past.

This is one of my favorite places to go see a show! It is small, intimate, has seating upstairs, and you can see the stage from anywhere. Plus there are bathrooms within the venue(you don’t have to go back to the bar to pee!) I’ve seen two bands here and even though i didn’t know much about either of them I really enjoyed their performance. I believe it was partly due to the fact that I had a great view of the stage and a good drink in my hand. And the average price of tickets – never above $ 15 for me – is a good deal. There are a few tables and chairs near the stage and if you get there early you can grab a seat without having to be on the upper level. Bands always sound great, no muffles, no sound problems, and the crowd is very mellow. Rowdy, obnoxious people don’t seem to go here, which is A-Ok with me! Cool décor above the stage, which makes for interesting photos. Bonus! :)

This place is better than A-OK! I had never been here before and all of a sudden, I’ve been here a number of times. They have lots of free shows(you dont even have to win tickets, you just show up after they announce it). I have yet to pay for a show here, so I don’t quite know how crowded it might get. But the shows I attended were very comfortable in the small space. There are even a couple tables on the sides if you get lucky.

Very fun and cool place to see a show. Venue is pretty small so you really get to see the performers up close, and often meet them as well. My only gripe was the sound system was clearly overloaded by one of the artists we saw, resulting in tubby bass and an unbalanced sound sometimes. Not sure that’s actually the venue’s fault though. My wife and I will definitely be returning soon. :)

This is a great spot to hang & watch an artist/band play. Came here to see Tope( ) perform and it was awesome. The lighting, sound, and atmosphere also made for a fun night. The crowd’s pretty chill and the bartenders were friendly. The drinks were also inexpensive, which is always a plus. I also liked how they connect themselves to the neighboring bar, Bar Bar, so you can walk back and forth from both locations.(Bar Bar has a great back patio with tons of communal seating). All in all, a fun place to enjoy music, drinks and have a good time.

Cool venue, yummy beers, and bluegrass… my night was set! I wasn’t able to try any of the food from next door but it looked amazing and I loved their outdoor patio area.

Do you like seeing a wide range of live music at a very affordable price? Do you like to drink non marked up alcohol while watching said music? Do you like having the choice between sitting and standing during the show? Do you like not being hassled for going in/out during the show? If you answered yes to these questions, then you’ll love Mississippi Studios. A laid back venue with good sound and great ambiance. All the shows I’ve been to have been under $ 15, even on a weekend. However the thing I appreciate the most is that they don’t jack up the prices of their drinks. They charge the same price as Bar Bar and even let you bring your drink in from Bar Bar. At $ 4 for a well drink($ 8 for a double, always get a double) they charge the same as your local dive bar(Crow Bar), but the drinks are significantly better. MS/BB has one of the best Hot Toddies around for a fraction of the price other places charge. The price of a tall boy went up by fitty cents, but that’s been happening all around town. Mississippi Studios also lets you go in and out of the venue with no issue. I’m lucky enough to live only a few blocks away so if I don’t like one of the bands or have time to kill between sets I can just run home and back.
