I cannot speak for the whole menu but I will say that their lunch special for the vegetarian is awful. They use too much water and not enough spices in their vegetarian dishes. The naan and rice were great though. If a dish is watery, the substance leaks onto the bottom of the bag, soaking it. Their mango lassi and mango shake are actually the same thing. I have had real mango lassis and mango milkshakes before, and it’s always authentic when served at a restaurant. The drink is near thin and tastes more like mango juice. I would rather have Thai food than order from this food cart again.

This review is for their naan which is the only thing I have gotten and I am addicted to it. $ 2 plain and $ 3 garlic — its like crack, but better.

Lunch specials are always amazing, and a ridiculous amount of food. The price has gone up a bit from the old days but still a heck of a deal at $ 7 for meat or veggie lunch special. Their samosas are not my favorite but their curries are excellent. I swear they put something in the food that makes it really difficult to stop eating. What looks like 3 meals in a container can easily become 2 meals and a food coma. I could give up regular bread for their naan any day of the week.

Worst indian food anywhere. tikka marsala tasted like cumin and I don’t know what. I threw it away when I got home. I would save your money.

Their tikka masala is disgustingly sweet. I don’t understand how they can call it tikka masala when it has no spices or herbs. Their naan is flat, eggy tasting, burnt and doughy. There are so many delicious Indian restaurants around Portland, so I don’t see why this gets a 4 star rating.

I love both the food cart and their regular restaurant off of macadam. I always order the spicy veggie khorma and a side of papad. The portions are great and the food taste is top notch. Everyone is always very nice and the food is pretty quick since it is made to order.

This place never fails to deliver exceptional indian food. Mouth watering flavors and intense spice combinations is the essence of indian food. They capture it,

The mediocre food would have been enough to make us hesitate to visit this cart again. However, after waiting for some time for the server to even notice us, we were treated to some of the worst service we have ever had in Portland. This server ignored other female potential customers while we waited, but was very nice indeed to males. When we asked a question about the offerings, he actually rolled his eyes! The wait for our food was extremely long, although all that was required of the server was to scoop the food into a container. While we both ordered the exact same item from the menu, our servings were quite different. Also, the prices were significantly higher than the cart offering Indian cuisine nearby. In a city known for excellent food and almost limitless choices, we won’t go back to this cart.

I’ve only been here once but I got the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan bread. The naan was super good and the masala was decent, the chicken was a little dry but overall pretty good. OH and if you want it even the slightest bit spicy you have to ask for EXTRASPICY I got extra spicy and it’s barely spicy at all let alone super spicy. Medium or mild is basically no spice added, and I think the masala will be too sweet if you don’t ask for super spicy. Overall I will return and get other things on the menu! Their lunch deals are great so I’ll probably end up getting that!

Love the lunch special here so that I can try new things and learn what is what. Sometimes food can be off and sometimes amazing so overall a good lunch option for people in this area

This part of town is known for their food trucks. Lots to choose from and the reviews all seemed quite good. I was in the mood for some Indian food so I tried this place. The line was short, the wait was horrible. Yes, it was fresh but the idiot at the counter gave my order to the person before me. Once I got the food, I was not all that impressed by the chicken masala or the fried vegetable dumpling appetizer. It fell way short of my expectations. My son had a huge gyro at the place next door and I was really jealous.

Chicken Tikka Masala was terrible! Sweet? I’m looking for savory with my Indian food. I asked for medium spicy and there was not a hint of spice– I came home and tried to drown it in chili garlic sauce to make it taste even a little bit decent. Chicken was overcooked and dry. Naan bread was bland. Very unimpressed and prices too expensive… will not be coming back here.

This food cart is fantastic! Their chicken tikka masala is delicious. The portions are very generous — I usually eat half of a dish for lunch and the other half for dinner. For a food cart, the food is quite good. It isn’t fancy or innovative, but it is authentic and flavorful. The man and woman who work at the cart are always cheerful, generous, and polite. I definitely suggest that you stop by this cart if you’re around PSU.

I got some bad news Saturday and got takeout from this place and it instantly made me feel so much better. I almost cried because I needed something(anything!) Good that day. Thank you! Also its great they are open weekends, as many of the carts on that block are not. Also, I called ahead this time and that saved the wait.

This place used to be a solid lunch spot for me. But prices have increased, food quality is inconsistent and unless you enjoy eating a massive amount of rice you will probably be disappointed by the rather bland options. Today’s visit was topped off with witnessing the cashier insult a customer about his skin condition. Very rude. I’m done with this place. The one upside to this place is their naan. If you just go here stick with the wraps which have stayed more consistent. But with all the options on this block I will be spending my money elsewhere.

I stayed loyal as prices increased $ 1/item, portions shrunk and quality became inconsistent over the past year. What put this«duke» over the edge was when he called in an order only to arrive and be told they forgot, w/no apology. I’ll be staying away for a few months until they can work out these issues.

Got the chicken goa curry and everything tasted great until I found a bee in it. This bee looked like it had been cooked in with the food and was pretty old looking — like a dead ass bee you’d find in a windowsill. I had already eaten most of my food when I found it, which made me paranoid about weird crunches in the meal(Had I imagined that off-putting chomp? Was there more than one?) I’ll keep my meals bee-free from now on and skip this cart.

I just visited their PSU cart on sw 4th. This place has boring food. Total snooze fest. Bland, uninspired favors. I’m not really sure why it has such good reviews — maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I got the daily veggie combo. Priced well at $ 6, it came with rice, heaping spoonfuls of 2 veggie entrees, and naan bread. Both the veggie entrees were so boring that I almost fell asleep. Almost. I was jolted back to consciousness when I picked a piece of chicken out of my veggies. This vegetarian orders the veggies because I don’t like meat. I was pretty disappointed to find chicken in the veggie dish. If they are careless about something like this, what else are they careless about(cleanliness?)? 2 stars for the portions and prices, but if you want flavor, then take your $ to one of the many other carts near PSU.

Out with the old and in with the new, the NEW Taste of India is better than ever. I mean, do you even remember what India used to taste like? Actually, I’m a bit fan of(old) Taste of India, their other food card a handful of blocks North and West of here. but I’m a HUGE fan of the convenience of this cart right in the heart of the PSU food cart pod on SW4th. Expect great service and quality food. The lunch special here is spectacular. You can choose between vegetarian and meat. Either way, it comes with naan bread, rice, and three pre-determined entrees. All that is $ 6, which I consider an excellent lunch value. If today’s lunch menu isn’t your jam, I recommend a wrap. Again, the vegetarian and carnivorous options are both spectacular. The wrap is essentially a burrito, wrapped in naan and filled with anything from chicken to lamb to paneer. If you’re really in a hurry, you can call ahead and place your order. If it’s between 12 and 2 in the afternoon, this isn’t a terrible idea. These guys deservedly have a pretty significant line outside of the cart just about every day during the lunch rush.

Way better than all you can eat buffets or any dining place. Best Indian food hands down. Coming from a food cart, you know the price is good and service is speedy. I love coming here to cure my curry cravings! Okay, the spices are not too strong or spicy. So if you’re into that, then choose a dine in restaurant instead. The mango lassi tasted a bit off. It’s very different than what I am used to down in Eugene and restaurant up in Seattle. Not sure if there are different ways to make them according to what regional of India the owners are from. It was just not what I liked. Bring cash! They don’t accept cards.
