I was excited to try out the lunch buffet at this place, wish I can say I like it… The restaurant looks nice, way nicer than a lot of the Indian restaurants that I have been to. But frankly, I was not impressed by the food selection, there was less selection than I have anticipated. I do, however, appreciate the quality of the food, and how the naan and fried food are served to your table. Probably won’t come back again with so many other restaurant options nearby.

I went for their buffet. I didn’t like the food. Tandoori chicken was bit dry. Server was nice but never checked with us how we were doing. I had to call the server few times for water and soda refill. I had better buffet. I hope their dinner is better than their buffer.

I was in Portland for a conference and wanted to check out food here. Stumbled upon this place and I would say I like it. I like that they also have a thali as an option for dinner so you do not have to make a choice on what to order. Everything is decided for you and you can have a lot of things in little portions. I had chicken thali and it was good. For the amount of money, it was ok, but again not a lot of places do offer this. Next time I am here, I would try something else. Or may be come for lunch.

Great place for lunch buffet. They bring naan and fried food to your place. Not a huge selection but everything is good. Service is attentive. Price seems right for what you get

Such a great experience. The food is some of the best I have ever had. Ask for the ginger chicken. Johnny was our waiter and he was phenomenal! Eat here, you will have a wonderful evening!

We had a delicious dinner. The okra vegetable dish was one of our favorites. We only ate vegetarian so I have no feedback on the meat dishes. All of the flavors were so good. Definitely will go back.

Overpriced, under-portioned, un-prepared…all of the basics that make a great restaurant a great restaurant seem to not work here. I found all of the food portions for dinner incredibly small and cheating. The $ 12 vegetarian entrees were underwhelming as well. Highlight of the dinner was the lentil soup, however it’s not worth running in for. Service was short and not very helpful. I would skip it.

I travel a lot. Everyplace I travel, I find an Indian restaurant and try the Malai Kofta, my favorite Indian food dish. Here at India House, they actually respected my request for«spicy» and made it spicy, the way I like it. The sauce was really really good, better than most places I’ve eaten, and I’ve had the same dish many many places. The waiter was fantastic, and I sat in one of the booths that has electrical outlets, so I got to charge my laptop and phone while eating. The waiter recommended the«kulfi» and it was the most amazing dessert I’ve ever had in my life. Beautiful atmosphere, they have fast wi-fi and a warm and friendly atmosphere. I love this place!

Customer service was awesome, my soup was to die for but my naan left something for my imagination. It was super crunchy like a domino’s pizza, black along the edges and despite asking for garlic… I didn’t taste any. I’ll be back but a lil more critical with what I eat.

Ordered from here via Delivered Dish and was so disappointed that I made a Unilocal account. The chicken tikka was dry and came to me without sauce – unless you count the pool of grease. I also ordered biryani which was mushy – except for the undercooked potatoes. Vegetable pakora wasn’t bad, but overall a yuck meal.

We just had an excellent dinner here. Johnny the waiter was very attentive and the owner was friendly. We had the fish dinner. The variety was interesting and delicious. All the meals we had tasted good. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I have been going here for several years now. I stopped by again today and it is still a great place to rest the bones. I love starting each meal with papadum and the owner is very friendly and a great guy to know. I’ll being headed back there soon.

Easily the most mediocre Indian food I’ve ever had. Ordered for delivery. Sag paneer was the worst ive had. The cheese in it was like rubber, at first I thought it was old tofu. Chicken masala I had next was even worse, the chicken was even more rubbery and bland than the cheese! The naan didn’t taste like anything I’ve had before, also very non-food-like. Nothing tasted«offensive» or «off», but nothing really tasted like food either. I’d have to be pretty darn hungry — and have no other options — before I’d eat this again.

Consistently GREAT food! From the outside this is not the first place you would walk in to. As we have introduced friends to this restaurant they have become fans themselves. This place is about the food.

The best place ever to eat! Food is so good! Soo good! I’m craving it right now as I am writing the review! People that work there are super nice and the owner tony is great! Lunch I would pass on, not a huge fan but dinner is the bomb! Fresh and authentic and great! These people who are saying the food is bland and crap is full of crap! They don’t know what authentic good Indian food is! They really don’t know anything about Indian food! It’s honestly the best food ever! If you think it’s bland add some sauce they give you really good sauce to mix up the flavors. Or order medium plus! Duh! Anyways my favorite Indian food!

The Buffet is the best value here. I really enjoy it, and come every week. In order naan and pakoras, and would eat the samosa too if I wasn’t saving room for desert. The rice pudding is great. Once a week, I get to have my fill of really tasty authentic Indian food. Fill a ¼ of your plate with salad, and the onion toping next to them. Put a scoop of rice on the plate, scoop up some curry, some meatballs and the vegetarian options too. Lots of great flavors and colors! Use the naan to eat extra sauce, pakoras are tastey crunchy snacks. After you are satisfied with the savory faire. Cool down your palate with dessert.

Conveniently located at Grand and Morrison, the intersection of MAX light rail and the Portland Streetcar. Decorated in green and white, with Indian art. Comfortable booths and tables. My solicitous server wanted to make sure my choice wouldn’t be to hot for me, and tried to calibrate my palate by having me taste a couple of different hot sauces.(It wasn’t too hot, as things turned out – if anything, rather milder than I would have preferred.) I tried: — Mango lassi, smooth and refreshing($ 3). — Cherry naan. Four good-sized pieces, filled with sweet cherry and almonds. — Fish khorma. Made with mahi-mahi. Excellent, mildly-spiced cream sauce. Accompanied by jasmine basmati, with a touch of saffron. The menu has a few bottled domestic craft brews and the usual Indian beers, at $ 5 for a 12-ounce bottle, $ 9 for Kingfisher or Taj Mahal in a 22-ounce bomber. Seven wine choices, at $ 30 to $ 45 per bottle, $ 7 to $ 11 per glass.
