Their truck is no longer there. They should update their location or make a notice that they’re not there anymore. This has gotten much better since my bad experience. They consistently have a chicken or lamb biriyani. The lamb is the best. My one issue is that their chicken tikka masala tastes different from day to day. It’s like they don’t use measuring cups. It’s a huge pet peeve when you’re craving the taste of something and expect to get the same great tasting dish you had last time only to taste something not as flavorful. The best days are usually Thursday and Friday. That’s when the tikka masala is the most flavorful.

Tasty and authentic Indian food. I had the chicken tikka masala and curry chicken with chicken rice. I love chicken tikka masala and this is better than most of the places I have eaten in NYC. The curry chicken was not spicy at all but still flavorful. When I opted for the chicken rice, I did not know that it actually came with chicken too. What a nice surprise and it was tasty too. The naan was kind of burnt and rubbery so I had to toss it.

I love this place because it is cheap and quick. I usually get the chicken curry and the chicken tikka masala so I get more bang for my buck(because I get two meat dishes). Their sauces are seasoned very well and not too overpowering so you can still taste the food. Portions are very generous and comes with white basmati rice(or you can upgrade to biriyani) and naan bread. Needless to say this will definitely fill you up if you are hungry.

The Chicken Curry was excellent… And the meal was a great bang for the buck! If I was going to be in town another day, I would eat here again!

I order a family style catered lunch from Shamla at least once a month for my colleagues, and oh my, it’s oh so delicious every single time! Everyone raves about their food and would probably be ecstatic if I had them cater once a week! She’s one of the sweetest people too! Thank for, Tandoor’s, for providing us with amazing food!

No line when almost every other cart had one should have been a clue. First, the guy working the cart was very nice. And $ 6 to fill your stomach IS a good deal. Unfortunately, I found the offerings very bland, probably near the bottom of all Indian food I’ve tried in Portland. You get lots of rice, but I only ate one quarter of it. The Spinach is kinda watery and so is the Tikka. The Naan was microwave-like chewy. They provide a fork which makes it difficult to get those last bites that are wedged between the ridges of the plastic container.

Got to the food trucks around 7pm… and most of them had closed for the night. Luckily for us, Tandoor’s was still open. We each had the Chicken Marsala and Curry Chicken… and holy cow — SOGOOD!!! The meals also came with our choice of rice(saffron or plain) and 2 pieces of naan. We live in Vancouver, BC and are used to Indian food, so we were a bit skepitcal at first. But this food truck proved to be as good as lot of the places we visit back home… and the best part(after the taste of course) was that we didn’t feel bloated or lethargic 20 mins after eating it. We just felt comfortably full. The portions were huge btw! I would def recommend this truck to anyone wanting to try Indian food. It wasn’t as spicy as it could have been(I would say more sweet curry than anything), so I think it would be perfect for the novice eater. You can always ask for more spice if you desire. All in all, really great food for an excellent price($ 6 each!). Def check this cart out!

Came here around 7pm and it was one of the few food trucks still open. Ordered the Curry Chicken & Chickpeas. The meal came with rice & naan. The food was amazing and it only costed $ 5. Portions were also big enough to feed 2 people.(me and my girl friend). Bottom line: Cheep Price & Great tasting food. highly recommend it to anyone.

Honestly, it’s not the best indian food I’ve ever had but it’s close enough. I like that it’s super cheap. You get a main meat dish, a side order, rice, and naan bread for only $ 5 lunch, and $ 6 dinner. I have to agree with a previous reviewer and say that the naan is a bit chewy… But hey, I still ate it ;) I always get the chicken masala and spicy potatoes as a side. I really like both and they do a great job when I’m craving Indian food. Also, the staff is always nice. So overall, I would definitely recommend this food truck!

Tandoor is decent Indian food for a good price: two entrees, rice, and naan for $ 6. However, it is definitely not the best, but also not the worst. It’s average. On today’s trip I had the chicken curry and the palak paneer. Both were fine, nothing was wrong with either, but they didn’t blow me away. I like a bit more spice to my food, and the curry was lacking. Their naan is decent, and definitely better than Taste of India’s, in my opinion. Overall: a solid place to get your Indian food fix at an affordable price. Next time I think I may try Bombay Chaat House, which I’ve heard is great.

This place is great! The food is awesome, and plenty to choose from. The staff is friendly. The pricing is very fair at $ 8 for a lunch buffet. My only complaint is that they are only open from 11 to 2:30. I sure would love to have a great Indian buffet nearby for dinner!!!

2 Entrée choices + basmati rice and naan for $ 6. Not bad. But not that good either. Uninspired curry and tandoori. Bad nann. What makes this worthwhile is the price point. For $ 6 it’s better than most fare. But in the end the Indian food is quite mediocre.

This place is absolutely amazing. The food is great, employees are nice and it’s never super busy. I’ve had chicken marsala which is delicious but not spicy. It’s very flavorful and the chicken is really tender. If you’re looking for spice, I’d probably get something else. Chicken curry is supposedly spicy but I disagree. I didn’t care much for it because it had too much of an earthy taste to it, if that makes sense. It wasn’t horrible though. The naan isn’t very good which is why I can’t give 5 stars. It’s kinda chewy which is a big no-no in my opinion. It still does the job(which is drenching it in sauce and inhaling ha) The best part? You can get a huge portion of rice, 3 pieces of naan, and two main courses for $ 6 dollars! You can’t really go wrong. I think there are other options that cost additional but since I am a picky eater, I don’t know and don’t care. Would I go back? Yes! In fact, I’m probably gonna go again today. It’s nice on the taste buds and wallet.

First things first, I believe this cart has moved to 6th and Clay. I love this place! So why only 3 stars? Well, it’s not the best Indian food I’ve ever had. It’s not even the best Indian food cart in the surrounding blocks. But I love it. It’s right next to my work, and it’s the quickest, and most price-friendly place around. It isn’t like the food is bad. It is decent. But it’s also hit or miss. The naan sometimes is dry, the curries less flavorful… you just never know. But I keep coming back because I don’t care. The 3 stars is an honest assessment, but I eat here about once a week anyway.

This is my favorite food card at 6th and Jefferson. Close to work, they are SUPER fast. there is never a line and the workers are always so friendly and talkative. As far as a quick and cheap lunch goes, I just can’t seem to beat this. Tasty, fresh, and HUGE servings. These always last me 2 days. I typicallyi get the Chicken Tikki Masala with either a vegetarian special or the Chana(chickpeas). I opt to pay the extra $ 1 for Biriyani rice and then you also get 3 slices of naan on the side. For $ 7 I get two lunch meals and am SOOOO satisfied! It’s my absolute favorite Indian CART.(You can’t really beat Bollywood Theater in my opinion).

Before Saffron came around I would swing by one of the other Indian carts in order to get my fix of giant pile of daily special. Now, I pretty much only go here when I want Indian. It’s a simple setup; pay $ 6 for two(of six) dishes and some rice, with naan on the side. Add another dollar if you want the daily biryani(chicken or lamb). Four of the dishes are standard, with a(slowly?) rotating selection of two specials. Since it’s not a complex menu service tends to be quick, and they also accept Square Wallet(pay with your face!) to speed things up even more. I only wish that the naan was always hit, never miss. Sometimes you get an older set that’s a little bit crustier than I’d like.

Tandoor’s is around the corner from the majority of food carts in the PSU pod, so it is often forgotten. I think it is also overshadowed by New Taste of India(which is spectacular). What I love about Tandoor’s is that they are FAST. There is rarely a line and they will have your food in your hands in less than 5 minutes. For that occasion when you have a time crunch but don’t want to eat McDonald’s(I know it happens to everyone), this is a great option. Their $ 6 lunch combo is solid whether you’re looking for meat or vegetarian. Two different entrees + rice and naan makes for a pretty good, quick lunch. Given the choice between New Taste of India and Tandoor’s, I’d go New Taste, but I would also expect to wait quite a bit longer.

WHY did I have to try a new Indian place instead of sticking with the tried and true Bombay Chaat House? $ 6 got me some really flavorless food. It didn’t taste bad, but I LOVE indian food and I couldn’t believe how bland everything was. Not to mention usually when I get Indian cart food it lasts me at least 2 meals. I easily finished this meal. The ‘two pieces of naan; is actually two quarter slices of naan — at Bombay, you get about 4x the naan here. You know it was bad when you immediately want to get Indian food again so you can feel like you justified the terrible experience with something good. Never again.

At first I thought I messed up and went to the wrong food cart, but the pictures matched. Got the normal meal with chicken marsala, and since I love chicken marsala, a second portion of chicken marsala. The nam(I probably spelled this wrong) was cold and… uninspiring… The curry was… bland. The chicken sitting in the curry was bland… I’ve had better Indian food at the mall.

I can’t believe this place doesn’t have more reviews than it deserves! This food truck is an extension of their restaurant offering«To go lunch specials». For $ 7, you get basmati rice and your choice of 2 main dishes. There are 4 options to choose from: Palak Paneer(cottage cheese and spinach), Chicken Curry, Chana Masala(Chickpea curry), and Chicken Tandoori. Plus 2 – 3 slices of naan. You can order biryani rice(rice with vegetable and meat sorts) for a buck more. If you’re lucky, they sometimes serve up an eggplant«gravy» mix with your rice. How can you resist such a filling, delicious, cheap meal? Wonderful and quick service!
