Great breakfast service not so good today. I have lived in the neighborhood for nearly 17 years and have been to Albert’s for breakfast more than anywhere else because the breakfast’s there are that good. The service on the other hand today was so utterly bad that I had to stop eating ask for to go boxes and leave. My friend ordered a full stack and I ordered the garbage so we could split and have some of each. He used all of the 1 syrup that they put down, and we both had ask numerous times for an additional syrup so I try the cakes. Our server said that she would bring us some in a minute. I also work in the service industry now and having to ask for something 3 or 4 times when it would take 5 seconds for her to grab is not very good service. She basically decided that we didn’t need anything else for her own reason. Nice goin, you just lost a customer. Plenty of places to get a good breakfast in Portland.

Came in hungry for breakfast. Ordered the special Peach pancakes. Water glass had lipstick on it. When food was served and the silverware Fork was dirty. Waitress brushed it off like it was a normal thing

If you’re really hungry this is a great place to go to in the area. Son loved the pancakes! Sausages were amazing!

Best little spot to get breakfast. I must recommend the biscuit, I don’t know what they do it’s the best one ever!!! Good people work here so if your alone or in a group you can enjoy the ones serving up the good grub.

Not worth the hassle. Staff is full of themselves and forgets that there are literally dozens of good places to get breakfast in the area. The food here is just not that special to put up with the condescending self-important staff. Seriously, there is nothing here that good worth waiting or dealing with rude people — they make average breakfasts. Which is really sad because it’s such a great location and a great neighborhood.

Great old diner food with a twist! Wonderful specials and interesting omelets. A regular stop for us when in Portland. Gluten-free bread available.

Great hole in the wall spot! I’ve been coming to Fat Alberts for over 5 years. Always consistent, always great people! It’s a great friendly neighborhood spot but I travel 15 miles to get here when I want a great breakfast. Kim’s Fav is my favorite, it get it broken with diced tomatoes and definitely add the sour cream and salsa. Their bacon is cooked to perfection and their house potatoes are the best! Nothing fancy but they crisp them well. Whenever I’m in Sellwood between 7am and 2pm I always stop here!

Great basic breakfast offerings. I’m never disappointed with what I order. Staff is friendly and can be pretty humorous at times. If you’re looking for a hipster place to be seen and noticed… nobody really cares about your ego. Do us all a favor and go somewhere else.

A totally fine diner type place, where the prices are a bit high for the quality of the food, but are on target for the quantity of the food. I had their Spanish omelette, which included canned green chilies, some adequate salsa on the side, and a big old mess of homefry potatoes. I declined the toast which comes with the dish, as this was already way too much food. The coffee was very solid for diner pour, and the ambience was just what I look for in my diner experience. I would definitely return.

Good, inexpensive breakfasts. Pretty small place, but with lots of brunch menu options!

So shitty, the biscuits and gravy sucked, very dry biscuits, they charged 7.50 for the food and 2.50 for the smallest cup of coffee u have ever seen, this place is crazy, I would not reccomend this place to anybody

Each time I eat here it feels like it’s getting a little bit worse. Their food always taste a little off somehow. I always get it to go so can’t comment on their atmosphere or service. Biscuits and gravy is prob the best thing I had here, but prob my least favorite out of all the places I’ve had them. Their French Toast I had today was. eggy. Smelt amazing! But tasted more like egg than anything else, and didn’t have much of any other taste to it. It left a bad after taste and it if wasn’t for the strong, sweet, sticky syrup — there is no way I would have eaten it. I keep going back thinking they will get better but, I don’t think I will again.

Stopped in here with my sister while I was in town visiting to grab a quick breakfast. We split a breakfast burrito, and half was more than enough for me. It was actually really tasty, and packed full of good stuff. My sister knows the owner, who ended up being our waitress. It was pretty slow, but then again it was late on a Monday morning. The open kitchen design is cool; if you can see the cook, you can trust the food. I was a little disappointed that our waitress forgot about my drink order, especially since there was only 2 or 3 other tables when she sat us. She remembered halfway through our meal, but by then I was fine going without it. All in all, I’d stop in again if I was in the area, but probably not worth going out of your way for.

Want to feel the Portland spirit? Find a little whole in the wall for breakfast that’s awesome? This is your place!!! Fat Alberts is a must for anyone. Just be aware!!! They only take cash! It throws a lot of people off. This place is the real deal when it comes to bomb breakfasts. Take a break and grab a bite here, you won’t regret it!!!

Haven’t been here for about a year and before that it had been about 10 years. I’m amazed that it feels and tastes just like it always has. Definitely stable breakfast food that has something for everyone. As with the other posts, the coffee isn’t great but the service was fast and good. The cash only thing is a bigger conversation than this post but if everyone went to can only it might be a better world.

$ 9.50 for a cold omelette. Owner told me it was hot, but got cold because I asked for hashbrowns. The cheese was still cold and shredded. Grrr.

Wow! I literally walked the 2 car lengths from my parking spot to the door just as soon as they lit the OPEN sign and there were already three people sitting at the counter when I walked in. That ought to tell you something about the place. It reminds me of a comfortable old diner with the counter running down the center of the space, overlooking the open kitchen. The tables and chairs are a mismatched combination of very serviceable relics. Best of all, regular sugar dispensers, those little silver creamer pitchers and jars of jam on each table. I don’t need no stinkin’ individual packets of sugar, creamer, and jam! I went with the Garbage Grinder omelet and was not disappointed. 3 eggs filled with sausage, ham, bacon, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms and two kinds of cheese. Just to push it over the top, it is smothered in country gravy. Believe me, this was enough for two people. Instead, the half I didn’t eat will be lunch later today. I would have given 4 stars but for the weak coffee and very blonde potatoes. Not sure which ‘local coffee roaster’ they buy from, but I’m guessing they aren’t adding enough grounds to brew a good cuppa. And the potatoes might have been the case of Georgie trying to get the food out fast. I could have used just a tad more browning on mine though and would gladly have waited a few more minutes. If that’s the worst thing I ever experience with a breakfast joint, I’ll still leave with a smile on my face.
