I miss their fortune cookies. Others pale in comparison. Sad to see this bakery closed.

My sister got me a zhong tze(Chinese tamales) from this bakery about a month ago. For $ 3, it is very tasty with plenty of meat and stuffings inside. I just love it! A whole meal in itself. Way cheaper than a burger. And my sis found out that they make the giant hong tze’s once a year during the dragon boat festival with special stuffings like dried oyster, mushrooms, and shrimps besides the regular pork, sausage, and beans. So she got the special giant ones for $ 13 each. Holy moly, it is a meal for 4 – 5 people. I’ll go to this place for my zhong tze whenever I crave for them.

I went in to see what they had in their bakery. I was looking for the traditional chinese sponge cake with strawberries and whipping cream frosting. I didn’t see anything that they had so they asked me if I was looking for something. I inquired about the cake and they told me they can make a fresh cake in 5 minutes. I was amazed a fresh cake in 5 minutes! During the wait I got a chance to talk to one of the ladies. The bakery is owned by 3 people who are of senior citizens age. Two sisters and a brother. She said there used to be 7 of them but 4 had passed away already. She is a sweet lady and nice to talk with. She said this is their hobby for making cakes for their customers. As I talked and waited for my cake, they also sell boxes of Amay Chinese Almond cookies. Yeah! These cookies are my favorite! The cake they made was so delicious. It was a round cake and it cost $ 15.00. Everything was fresh fresh fresh! The strawberries was fresh, the sponge cake was fresh and the frosting was fresh. I would definitely go back and order the same cake. If you prefer fresh, you will not be disappointed.

Very good red bean and taro pastries, but not my favorite for rice cakes and custards. Cheap prices, polite by pushy staff– know what you want beforehand or they’ll act a little impatient with you. Cash only.

Growing up, we always went to Linh’s Bakery to buy these things: I don’t even know what they’re called. They were usually pretty good. Moist. Soft. Delicious. On my recent visit, I’ve notice the quality has gone down. They were dry. And old. Not sure if it was the day or what. I might have to give them another try.

Cheerful pushy staff earn this place 5 stars from me! (me) «Are the mooncakes with yolk or without?» (owner’s sister) «No yolk.» (me) I’ll take 3.) (o.s) «You take 5?» (me) «3 please.» (o.s) «OK, 5.» (sound of movement in the kitchen, then she sticks her head out and asks if there’s anything else) (me) «I’ll take 3 of the Red Bean cakes too please.» (o.s) «You take 5OK.» And so went my transaction here. $ 20 later I had a weighty(mooncakes and Red Bean cakes have some heft) box of wonderful pastries. No, the décor inside isn’t glamorous, but the two ladies running the bakery have plenty to make up for it. They’re charming and helpful, and clearly don’t take no for an answer. The pastries are French and Vietnamese, while I haven’t tried the French ones, I can say the Vietnamese pastries are good. Prices are reasonable. Be prepared to walk out with more than you thought you would.

Stopped here after May Flower. Purchased a Taro Pastry. Tasted nice. They have coconut pastry($ 1.00) and Taro Pastry(.80) and sodas and more pastries. Aesthetically drab but nice pastries and good prices.
