I ordered a burrito de lengua & a plain churro as my souvenir for my drive back home. Okay, the churro, there is no denying, I killed it before we even made it out of the plaza. I was sad to say that they’re not necessarily made on the spot. They seem prepackaged or something because for being plain, it still had a hollow center for their variety of fillings, UNLESS they do make them all on the spot and hollow them to fill upon order. Anyhow, they’re definitely better than Costco churros, but, not legit fresh out of the fryer style like the ones they sold in my home town. Their burrito though… best damn burrito of my life! Seriously, they made this baby with love, and that’s for damn sure. Lol.

With a name like Mr. Churro you would expect that someone would go here for the churros… well, I’m sorry to say that that’s not me. I’ve never really liked churros, but I was thirsty when I walked through this building on Olvera Street. It smelled fantastic and after looking at the extensive menu, I decided to get the lengua tacos and the jamaica agua fresca. It was THEBEST jamaica and lengua I’ve ever had. They also have pickled red onions… every restaurant needs these! Mr. Churro only has a couple of tables, but it’s Olvera Street… you can buy what you want and eat it anywhere! My previous tradition when going to Olvera Street was always La Luz del Dia… now I have a new tradition. Next Olvera Street trip my first stop is definitely going to be Mr. Churro and their lengua taco! FYI: Having the Metro go all the way from Glendora and straight to Union station had to make that the EASIEST trip to LA ever! Definitely will be doing that again. Even with a ticket and gas it’s cheaper, and NOSTRESS!

I haven’t had a churro from Mr. Churro in years. I bought one today for $ 2.50 at their booth during the Cinco de Mayo festival at Olvera Street. It had a nasty after taste like they had used rancid oil. Worse, it was just a skinny hollow tube. I am heading to Costco now to get a bigger, fresher, better-tasting churro for less than half the price of Mr. Churro.

If you like filled Churros ! Come here! Give them a try if you are near china town and Olvera street! Wait time: Oh my some weekend days are very long lines! Be patient. But why not if you are having fun! And what’s the hurry if you are already here visiting. Environment: hole in the wall but you probably will just grab and go with your food or snacks. It’s A-ok for me. Food: I only got churros so far. But they look like they carry a pretty good selection of foods! Overall: cool place just to stop by if you are in the plaza. But not a place to die for … That’s just my take on it.

Excited to take my family to Olvera Street and also to check out Mr. Churro. The churros were room temperature, I got half lechera and half cajeta. The churro itself was pretty good, but I didn’t find it very special. Best churros I’ve had — the churros con chocolate at LEGOLAND, right before Kingdom Village. Had those twice in two days. Fresh, come out piping hot, and the actual churro is twice as thick as Mr. Churro.

ALERT: this review is based on the churros only. Being a churro fanatic, I am qualified to judge the churros here. They have regular churros and filled churros. Options include cream, cream cheese, chocolate, caramel, guava, strawberry, Apple, and condensed milk. The first time, there was so much cinnamon sugar. The second time, it lacked cinnamon sugar. I’ve tried the cream and cream cheese churros. Cream tastes very amazing. The cream cheese was warm and I prefer mine cold.

Nice end to our lunch we had at La Golondrina. Don’t be fooled by the name, they have a pretty extensive food menu aside from the churros. But we came here to try their namesake. Regular churros are $ 2.50 and filled churros are $ 3.50. We opted for a regular churro as well as custard filled churro and guava filled churro. Enjoyed our desserts. The filling in the churros wasn’t overly sweet, which was nice since you’re already munching on cinnamon sugar fried dough. Wish the guava filled churro had more guava flavor. Enjoyed the churros here, but definitely not the best churro I’ve ever had.

The best place to get a crisp churro with the right amount of cinnamon and sugar. The staff are sweet and provide the best customer service. I love the way they serve authentic Mexican churros. Yummy! Lechera filled will always be my fave!

For sure this place gets points for being the first of its kind. Located in a small, narrow storefront closer to Cesar Chavez Ave(and the most expensive gas station in LA) Order, collect your churro and eat elsewhere. You’re on Olvera Street, so there is much to explore in this marketplace anyway. Long, freshly fried churros are split in half and stuffed with filling on both sides. I’ve tried every stuffed churro flavor and the only one I wouldn’t order again is the chocolate. That chocolate sauce wasn’t that great. Caramel, guava, cheesecake were all great flavors. The sister store located in El Sereno is a little easier to access and has a dining room. I believe they’ve changed ownership, but they still sell the same churro menu items. Churros stuffed or plain, and churro sundaes.

Where do I start … They were okay but I’ve had better to be honest! Anyway I gave 3 stars for the overall review| experience Pros not to many but for the most part they do try to be fast. And the taste was ok not worth the drive or paying for parking just to wait in line longer then it took to complete my order. Another pro was the signs they used to advertise was well placed so I was able to locate them faster. I did enjoy seeing an nice little old lady(Dona) walking talking orders trying to speed up the process… Very productive use of time to speed up the process but here’s where my cons start Con they are to quick to keep up with them selves yes they placed my order and 50 other people but with that I was watching and listening to mistakes being made from being over priced from one order to my own order being incorrect with one item and it given to me as if I was the one mistaken for what I said. Regardless he took the churro and replaced it with what I originally ordered but I think for one a lot of this madness would be a lot less crazy if they just slowed it down and better organized themselves and place one person in charge of what’s going in and out then have another call out the number and hand them over all the while the middle man make sure its correct before it goes out! But I’m just saying that’s what I would do… I get that they are busy but I think you would please people more by getting it right the first time then making mistakes and wasting products Loved it but I doubt I would go back

We were looking for some good eateries and we found this sweet place on Unilocal. After wandering around Olvera Street, we finally found the place. Ambiance Parking: You’re in LA… good luck. So your choices are street parking or garage parking. Seating: * There is a bar-like seating for about 5 people but generally meant for waiting. Seats are outside within the hall as well. Feels: * The place is inside a mini-mall. The environment is family friendly and it has food for everyone for all ages. There is a tv on playing soccer if you’re into that kind of stuff. Food: Churro(Recommended) Crunchy, served fresh, and sweet. You’re definitely in for a treat. Chocolate(A-Ok) Maybe I had higher standards but unfortunately it is chocolate syrup. Cheesecake(Recommended) Personally, I am not a fan of cheesecake but my friend said it was satisfying for her taste. Guava(Recommended) Sweet and guavaly delicious. Horchata(Recommended) Sweet and delicious. The quality for the price was a steal! Customer Service: It was a pretty popular long line(10 people ahead of us). However line moved pretty quickly. Overall: 4 stars. Good food, affordable, and solid service. For a quick and sweet treat, I have a good idea of where to go. They serve more than churros thus I am more inclined to check out their other dishes. TL;DR Tips: * They serve churro sandwiches too! * No hidden gem, be sure to expect a line.

Decent churro for $ 2.50. The plain is hollow since they’re made to be filled. Crunchy and soft, but nothing I would really crave to come back to.

Cute little spot off the main part of Olvera Street. I really wanted a churro after my breakfast. After seeing a couple with churros, I followed their footsteps and found Mr. Churro. I got a traditional churro and one filled with guava. Both were so good! The guava wasn’t too sweet, and the traditional was soft and warm. If you’re craving a churro and are in the area, stop by this spot.

No visit to Olvera St. is complete without a visit to Mr. Churro for a cajeta stuffed churro. As if cinnamon and sugar dusted fried dough wasn’t enough, they fill it with strawberry, caramel, cheesecake, chocolate and other items. If you’re in the mood for food, they also have an inexpensive bevy of options from nachos to tortas. Highly recommended.

This place gets a lot of hype. I love the location — you really feel like you’re in Mexico. I want to give 4 stars because they make their churros fresh so they’re piping hot when you get them. Unfortunately, for the price, I have to dock a star. We ordered 3 filled churros and the grand total was $ 10.50! OUCH! That’s a hefty price tag for a cheap dessert. I also stand firm with my 3 stars because my churro must have had a hole/flaw because upon receipt, the churros were empty and the condensed milk was at the bottom of the bag. I wanted a stuffed churro — not one I had to dip… Credit cards only accepted for purchases over $ 10. Metered street parking only.

Long long lines for this churro shop supersized to serve random food(burgers and chicken nuggets along with tamales) and drinks. I came during the Dia de los Muertos festival so maybe the lines are less soul killingly long at other times. That said, the churros are super delicious and worth the wait. We ordered some regular churros along with three filled varieties: crema/pastry cream, cajeta/caramel, and guava. I wanted to try the regular one just to get a baseline. It was delicious. Crunchy exterior rolled in sandy cinnamon sugar yet the insides are tender with a fantastic chewiness. These are great to eat on their own without the crutch of an extra filling. It’s nice that the cinnamon sugar coating the outside didn’t go overboard in terms of sweetness. The pastry cream filled one was my least favorite of all the churros, including the non-filled one. The dairy complemented the churro well but I’m not a big fan of pastry cream. A lot of positive reviews convinced me to try it but I thought it was just okay. The cajeta one was super delicious. So milky and sweet with a deep caramel flavor. It was just awesome. I had asked the lady who was taking orders from people standing in line which one she liked best and she recommended the guava. It was an excellent suggestion. Sweet and redolent of guava but with a nice tang that helped to cut the sweetness. The texture of the guava filling was like canned apple pie filling but the flavor was so good the texture was only secondary.

Filled Churros! Churro w/Cheesecake — $ 3.50 — Churro was great and not to sweet. The filling was not like melted cheesecake but not overly sweet. The filling makes the actual churro soggy. Filling is not throughout the entire churro so some bites have the filling and some do not.
