This place was amazing! I would go back, and do go back! I recommend this place to anyone I know, and we love going here! The sushi is amazing, of course! Go here when you are in the area, one of the best places in downtown for sushi!

I was excited to try a different sushi spot in downtown Greenville and found this place via Unilocal and the reviews seemed promising. The restaurant is rather small and narrow with a string of tables running down what looks like a hallway. The décor was definitely lacking and a little bit drab. The clientele definitely seemed very young, more so than any other places we’ve been to in Greenville. Our waitress was extremely friendly and upbeat and did a great job of serving what looked like the entire restaurant. I started my meal with a lemon drop martini which was not good. It tasted extremely weak and like it was missing FRESH ingredients, such as uh… lemon. So after that we decided to order the shrimp shumai appetizer, it was alright. They are very small deep fried dumplings which they display on a plate that’s 10 times too large for the portion. As for the entrees, we enjoyed both of ours. I ordered the Jesse Roll which was delicious. My boyfriend ordered the bento box which is a great value. You get cucumber salad, miso soup, sashimi and your choice of roll for only $ 20. The cucumber salad and miso soup were mediocre. However he really enjoyed his roll. Overall this sushi restaurant was decent for the area I suppose but I definitely have had way better and I can’t honestly see myself returning.

This tako sushi might be the best sushi in the Greenville area, especially downtown. I have never had bad sushi here — try the volcano and the crazy rolls! Also, their most popular appetizer, which is a bean queso dip, is great to share and very tasty. It is a bit different because of the extra add ins, but totally worth it if you enjoy queso. The inside is very homey and close because of how busy the resteraunt gets — recommend getting a reservation.

Great sashimi! The fish was cut thick which I LOVE! There are not many places that serve sashimi that is cut as thick as you will find here. Great portions and a fun vibe in the restaurant. I ordered the bento box which was only $ 15. The miso soup was ok… I have had better but it was still tasty. They had a good selection of rolls but a lot of them had tempura shrimp or the roll itself was flash fried. I don’t like fried sushi so it limited my choices. But where the sushi roll fell short in options it made it up in the quality of the sushi and sashimi.

Love this place! Great food and friendly staff. Jim, our waiter was awesome! He recommended some great rolls and the fish tacos. Such a cool combination of Japanese and Mexican. There’s something for everyone.

There’s nothing better than a restaurant that serves up two, polar opposite cuisines. Especially when you want Mexican and your lady wants sushi. Takosushi solves that problem real good. I usually get the sushi here which is always on point. However, their Posole Soup is probably the most delicious soup of all of Greenville. And for $ 15, you get a lot of food with it. Service is always outstanding, no matter who you get. Jeni(pink-haired woman) is sublime. Sit by the bar and Dee always engages with you as he rolls sushi. Only downside is: their cocktails, with how basic they are, are way too pricey. Other than that, no complaints here.

One of our favorite spots in Greenville. Great fresh sushi and awesome fish tacos. One of the best happy hours in town!

Spent my birthday at this restaurant and the staff made me feel very special. I had the firecracker shrimp and it was the best and then they brought me a complimentary dessert in my honor. Two of my children had sushi and they loved it. I highly recommend this place

Nice concept, ok food! I like the idea of Tacosushi, but there was a lot to be desired. I found the food to be ok, but did not live up to standards… maybe that is because it was a fusion concept. Regardless, not my favorite place. I do have friends that love this place though, so, maybe it’s just me.

Delicious food! Great variety. Everyone will be able to find something they will like here. Wine pours need a little work… Very skimpy. But overall great spot! Can’t wait to return!

In a word: overrated. The majority of the restaurants downtown get mad hype simply because they get so many customers(tourists and whatevers) with undiscerning taste buds. Takosushi isn’t bad by any means. Service was good and food was decent. But very overly-Americanized. Too many rolls were fried and for the price it isn’t worth it. I’d recommend sakura or sushihana for a more authentic experience.

How unusual! The menu is a real eclectic mix of Mexican food and Japanese cuisine, which is cool. Though, I feel like you really need to choose just one path in a sitting-the combo just does not feel natural to me. Haha Came here on a Friday night and it was pretty busy, but they were able to seat us without a reservation. I got a Moscow Mule, because I just recently heard of them, and they are delicious and deceptively strong!(a.k.a. the perfect beverage.) We shared some edamame, and I had the veggie egg rolls which I thought were really great, and a smoked salmon quesadilla. An unusual option for a quesadilla, but it was delicious! I don’t know if I’d order it again, because it was so strange, but it was good. I’m excited to come back for some sushi. Also, our waitress was lovely.

There are some reviews in which you feel at crossroads. You want to stay true to integrity of an honest review but you don’t want to hurt a business after you had a great enjoyable dining experience. This is one of those reviews for me. Maybe it was the food I ordered but I was not blown away by the sushi. I had ordered some sushi rolls off the happy hour menu. They were a really great deal. California roll for $ 2.50. spicy Tuna for $ 4 plus one fish taco $ 2 and an Augusta roll as well. The rolls were nothing super exciting or memorable. Flavour was okay but I’ve had better and I’ve had worse. Excellent value though! The fish taco however was outstanding! I’d definitely come back to order more. The restaurant is a bit of an interesting mix of sushi(Far East) plus tacos(Southwest). For dessert I had the bread pudding which was okay not great not bad. Where my experience was great was I had awesome conversation with one of the sushi chefs. He shared some inside local area knowledge and was very friendly with not being too overbearing. It really made for a nice dining experience even if the sushi wasn’t my favourite. Overall with all things considered it’s a 3.5÷5 for me. Some go up some go down

I thought this was just a sushi place but a combo with Mexican flair which was an interesting combo. Had the guacamole and chips to start with a couple a sushi rolls and it was most excellent. The best part is they had Duvel beer. Belgian beer is my weakness and it was perfect pairing with the meal. A must go to in Greenville.

Now this review is purely based on my lunch experience. Has nothing to do with the nightlife or dinner experience. Also, I may periodically repeat so review may change based on experiences. I will use a sliding scale and median score to breakdown my experience based off my years in the industry. Hope you enjoy the read. Ambiance 4 stars-excellent lighting. Nice little décor package. Music was ambient so you could talk to your friends. From the outside this place is like doctor who’s tardis. Bigger on the inside than it appears from the outside. Cleanliness 4 stars-excellent shape considering how busy they were. Bathrooms were in excellent shape as well. Bar 3.5 stars. Pretty good selection of liquor, beers and custom drinks. Only detractor was seeing soufflé cups over the nozzles of liqueurs. Usually a sign of a fruit fly problem. Food selection 4 stars. More than ample selection for lunch or dinner. Not in the mood for sushi? Well there is selections for people who was something else. Sushi Rolls. 4 stars-I wish I had time to break them all down as they all deserve individualized critique. Their use of fusion and playful flavors is refreshing. Between myself and people I dined with. Each roll that we had was just as equally tasty and well prepared as the last. Kudos sushi maestro. Hospitality 4 stars-My server was great. Not only was she knowledgeable about the vast array of food but adult beverage pairings. She was attentive and friendly. Great Gal! Check this out people. You won’t be disappointed.

Solid food and great service. Fantastic fresh fish! The only down side on the sushi was that they were a little heavy on the spicy mayonnaise and it really wasn’t all that spicy. I would definitely go back as I hear the fish tacos are excellent… and I just love me some fish tacos.

I wanted to like it. I’d heard great things about their happy hour(which ends at 6pm instead of 7pm like other places). Had four sushi rolls, spicy tuna, rock & roll, the hawiian and a specialty one called ‘the spaceship’. I’m giving two stars because our appetizer was great(had queso dip and chips) and our bartender/server was great. The sushi was horrible I’m afraid to say. Two of them were drenched in teriyaki sauce, to the point that it hurt your stomach, just overwhelming sweetness. It would have been much better had they just ‘glazed’ it and used sparingly like the description said, but it was drenched through. The other two were just so spicy that it wasn’t enjoyable. You could just taste that something was off, I’m guessing the ingredients aren’t as fresh as other places. Texture/taste was not up to par as my other ‘go to’ places and it just felt like they tried to cover that up with something really really spicy. Since the queso was good I’m guessing maybe their southwestern food is better? Will try if I ever end up there again but won’t rush to do so.

I was pumped to find this gem recently while walking downtown. My husband and I have been trying to branch out to new restaurants and downtown greenville is full of them! I called on a Saturday afternoon to make a reservation for our party of 8 and they had no problem accommodating. When we arrived it was decently busy but be cognoscente of how many people you bring in the front door because there is no waiting area. When I walked in I thought I had actually come in the wrong door. There is also no host or host stand for anyone to greet you. The restaurant is actually quite small which I assume is the reason for no hostess stand. There is a long sushi bar and maybe 20 tables. Once our party was seated in the back, we all ordered a drink. Their martini list looked great and I settled for a Cosmo. It was delicious but did verge on the sweeter side, but I loved it. So the whole concept of this place is Mexican food meets sushi. They have a ton of selections from both sides. The nice thing is you can mix it up and order one taco and a sushi roll. I had a sushi roll and a cucumber salad. The roll was delicious and I wish I had ordered more! The cucumber salad was also great and tasted really fresh. Not like the cucumbers has been sitting out too long. One bad thing is the food is not synced up. So if you have someone ordering off the Mexican side of the menu and someone ordering off the sushi side, they are not getting there at the same time. Overall there are a few bumps in the road with this place, but the food and service are great.

Wow! Amazing experience & wonderful food. 5 stars on service alone. Although Greenville’s food has been wonderful service has not. It was great to eat somewhere with exceptional service. I was there this past Monday night with friends & Brianna was the greatest server. She made recommendations, explained any questions we had — suggested what not to get, refilled our waters regularly(major points for this!) and was so friendly & kind! The food itself was really good quality, which you might not expect from a place that offers both Mexican & Japanese food. It’s perfect for when people are craving different things but want to eat together. One of my friends got Mexican & two of us got sushi. $ 20 for a bento box which includes miso soup, salad, a roll(any on the menu!) and a TON of sashimi & sushi pieces. Everything tasted fresh & delicious. Great place.
