This review is for The Orient on Main. My receipt said, «Murasaki». I know they are the same ownership, but in fairness, this review is NOT for Murasaki. I couldn’t find a way to retract it. There are great places to eat in downtown Greenville. Unfortunately, this isn’t one. It used to be very good but over the past year has really gone down. I try to give every place the chance to have an «off» day but after today, I’m done with this place. Food was poorer in quality and the server didn’t bring the soup and salad and still charged me the full price for the entrée alone. Service was also very slow. I still left a good tip — don’t like to reciprocate poor treatment. It’s a shame. This used to be a regular lunch hangout with great food.

So sad they have shrunk the Special rolls in diameter. They are now like little tiny rolls. I’d rather they charged an extra dollar than take my food away. Sad but at least we have other great sushi options in Greenville like Purple.

Here are the top three things why I didn’t like this place: 1) Dirty menus 2) Never got served, waited 20 min. 3) Never apologized for their awful service

The club ambiance is the only thing this place has going for it. Too bad you can’t stuff music and lighting down your throat. The food was appetizing, however not worth the price. My friend’s spring roll was the size of a vegetable spring roll that comes free with a $ 4.99 Chinese take-out box. My sushi roll was tiny. My thoughts as I stared at the spring roll and sushi roll: «That’s really small… Has it been able to satisfy?» I also ordered the baby octopus nigiri, which looked really slimy and depressed. And limp. I was so hungry after my meal I went to Pita Pit.

Good food, service not so much. Had to wait for the bar tender to stop chatting with her friends before even acknowledging I walked into the bar. She came to say hi minutes later. If I’d knew where I was would’ve walked out and gone to a different place. Then she it was another 20 minutes before she would even take my food order. Horrible service.

The sushi is very good. I had the Poinsettia roll and sashimi. The food come out fast and the service was very attentive. Definitely will be going back.

This used to be the best sushi in Greenville. However, now they have weird policies with alcohol such as flavoring for sake being five dollars extra. They have very rude waitresses and have odd rules. They do not allow people to order alcohol from the tables while seated even though no one is coming around to them regularly. I have experienced and heard that they mess up tabs and charge people more than they should. I would recommend misos, tsunamis, or takosushi over here. This review hurts me to write because I used to like this place, but it has changed.

So we have wanted to try this place for a while. So we did! It’s usually pretty busy, but the night we went it was not. We seated ourselves and our waitress came over with 5min to offer us some drinks. She was super sweet and very pretty may I add. We got a glass of wine each. One of the smallest pours I have seen or would ever pour for a customer personally. We shared some edamame. Can’t really mess that up. Also the Cats Eye. Hands down it was really good and full of flavor! Cory got the Spicy Salmon. It was a little too fishy for me; also Poinsett Roll. It was ok. I got the Spicy Tuna and Vegetable Roll. Tuna was super spicy and mostly mayo. I recommend to get the other spicy tuna.(More chunks of tuna) and the veggie roll was very dry and lacked any spunk. The rice on all the rolls were very mushy. Like it was over cooked. Meh All in all. We probably won’t be back. The only reason they are getting a three star is for our service. Our waitress Lisa was super sweet.

Food is ok but my waiter who was an older Asian guy was awful. Shouldn’t you be looking at us when we talk to you instead of looking everywhere else??? I asked how many pieces of sushi came with the avocado roll and he said 8. So I got 2 rolls so I would have 16 and no other food. Guess what? They only come with 6… So now I am going to go home hungry because I didn’t order something else :(this place is frustrating…

Best sushi in south carolina hands down! I take my friends & family here. Love this place & highly recommend. I haven’t had a roll yet I didn’t like & the waitress with the dark hair is one of the best waitresses I’ve ever had. She’s so good with kids even when they’re messy she is still so pleasent.

We went here last night and just as we expected the food and service were awesome! Great Job to the teamwork behind the bar at Murasaki!

You must order the tuna tartare! We also ordered the Poinsett roll, which I thought I’d love because it has my favorite ingredients, but I only found it so-so. The tempura was good but smallish portions for the price.

Really enjoyed this place. Right on main street and sushi was awesome. I got the ocean breeze roll and the rainbow roll. Both were awesome. Fish was so good. Very impressed. Highly recommend this place. This was the first place I tried in Greenville and I was very happy.

So having lived in different areas I know Greenville does not have the best sushi which is funny because there is a sushi meet up group here. What I see some sushi restaurants that have any decent quality fish, as this place kinda does I guess, is they are super chinsey with the portions when making the rolls, and this place is no exception but even more so to the extreme, making it way over priced. I have had fresher fish so how is this place fooling so many people. The salmon fish roe was alright. I may go back because in terms of Greenville, options are limited. I told them I would pay more for a bigger roll and I did but what I got was no different then their standard. They said they would need to double their price for double the fish. At 10 dollars for a proper roll they have to be kidding their self. They should double the fish portion and up the price maybe 2 to 3 dollars to be fair.

From the moment we walked in, I knew this wasn’t going to be the great experience that other Unilocalers described. We were seated quickly, and given menus. My menu was filthy and in tatters. I forgave the poor appearance and was excited about the drink special listed on the first page — a 16 ounce Lagunitas IPA for five bucks. I ordered that and started to peruse the food section of the menu. The beer showed up a minute later and that’s when the real disappointment set in. The waiter, who seemed distant and unfriendly, set down a 12 ounce bottle of beer and walked away. I had to ask for a glass, and I never found the other 4 ounces. Considering the lack of enthusiasm we had, we decided to order some veggie tempura and one roll. We didn’t want to commit to too much. Fortunately, that was the right idea as we were unimpressed with the roll. It was a rather poor presentation and was lacking in all around appeal. We wrapped things up and hit the road for another restaurant — and no, we won’t be going back.

–One of my all time favorite sushi restaurant in Greenville. There’s just so many oriental restaurants on mainstreet and this one is in my opinion the best one. The service is quick, easy, and polite. We always order mussels and calamari. The mussels are cooked perfectly and drenched in this really nice sauce. The calamari isn’t too salty and it’s better than most places I’ve been to. I always get the spider roll and my girlfriend always gets the chicken tempura. There’s alittle bit of something for everyone in the menu. The prices are fair especially for sushi. And the entrees always tastes fresh. Overall the place isn’t the best sushi restaurant I’ve been to, but if you’re in downtown Greenville looking for a nice Japanese restaurant, this is definitely the place to go to.

Sushi was delicious! I loved the Spicy Tuna. The bartenders were very friendly and attentive. The music was amazing and something I listen to daily :) I would definitely return the next time I’m in Greenville.

This sushi review Like all my sushi reviews Is done in haiku — — — — — — — — Look you guys and dolls In Greenville I took a stroll And got me three rolls At Murasaki I got them with shrimp, maki I passed on the sake The first roll, Pink Lady No love match with this baby Didn’t drive me crazy «Volcano» was next This one I loved the best The tuna was fresh This crunchy delight Agreed with my appetite A bit of all right! Samurai was last It was not like that Pink Lass Who’s last in the class. But dammit, boyo Just too much spicy mayo On that one roll, yo! As for the décor… After you walk through the door You’ll see a clean floor Bistro style seating A long counter for eating Clean, white, inviting Regarding the chef Her knife cuts are sharp and deft And the rolls have heft Go and have no fear Sushi’s good and there is beer There is honor here

I am keeping my review at 5 stars even though I wasn’t crazy about the avocado salad. It might just be a matter of taste, but the salad itself is just too heavy with the creamy avocado, thick sesame dressing, and wasabi mayo drizzle. A vinaigrette instead would lighten and freshen it up. The fried shumai was excellent as usual, and the spring rolls were delicious. Service was friendly and fast, and prices are very fair. This will keep us coming back!

Highly recommend Sushi Murasaki in Greenville. Location is prime – right on Main Street within walking distance to stores/hotels. Fast, friendly service. Pork Gyoza came with a great sauce. House salad comes with a delicious sesame dressing which I could have drank like a shot. The sushi was fantastic especially the Spicy Tuna, which was unlike any spicy tuna I’ve had before. It was bordering on a specialty roll even though it was listed on the regular sushi roll menu. It came with diced tuna(fresh as can be), spicy sauce, scallions, avocado, and sesame seeds. We also had the Red Dragon Roll, which was just as delicious.
