If you want to try the smoothest, creamiest &BEST coffee going around Bendigo, Old Green Bean is the place to do it! This is a beautiful café, where in the cooler months you can sit outside with a blanket on your lap while sipping your hot coffee & grabbing a bite to eat. Their meals are always delicious, & I’m yet to meet one person working there that doesn’t provide amazing & friendly service. This place is hard to beat!

Had a quick pitstop here on the way north. The reviews lived up to it. The coffee was fab and the crumpets, feta, avo and maple syrup was fantastic! He rated his toastie equally highly. I would deffo be back if I lived here.

After visiting a few of the recommended cafes in Bendigo, this is definitely my pick of the bunch. Or brunch, rather. Offering an all-day menu, you’re bound to find more than one option to satisfy your mood for breakfast or lunch — regardless of time of day(everything from muesli with almond milk to feta nachos and sandwiches). They are also gluten free friendly and judging by the coconut oil and almond milk offerings, probably Paleo too. Also a micro-roastery, this café pumps out their own brew to the masses. Quite a dark roast if that is your style. We tried a cold drip, which was dark and syrupy, would have been perfect in a Vietnamese style coffee but also great on its own. If coffee is not your thing, the fresh blended juice options are just as good(love the Aloha with orange, pineapple, strawberry and lime). The eclectic fit out lends itself well to the side endeavours of this café — as they also sell local art and vintage clothing. This sounds a bit weird, but it works. The vintage clothing is behind the café so as not to interfere with the flow and the art works are on the wall. At 10.30am on a Monday this place with pumping with all types. Workers, mums, nans, travellers, cyclists, students — a sign of a real crowd pleaser. Their popularity doesn’t interfere with their hospitality either, staff were super friendly. Happy kids were sprawled out on rugs on the front lawn, the whole place had a lovely vibe to it. Good for: brunch, coffee, juice, gluten free, kids, groups — ticks all boxes!

The Old Green Bean is a great little café just outside of the centre of town. The first thing I noticed as I walked in was that they had an abundance of crochet blankies on offer for anyone taking a seat outside. I thought this was a great idea because Bendigo can get very chilly. Inside has bit of a ‘grandma hipster’ vibe, but it’s not pretentious. There’s plenty of space and lots of cute laminex tables to sit at. The menu offers plenty to brunch-goers with eggs on basically anything you can think of. And really tasty food too! The coffee was great and they didn’t make us feel like we needed to clear out to seat new customers. A nice little extra surprise they’ve got is a small area at the back of the store where they have vintage & retro second-hand clothing and accesories for sale. And I did buy something. There’s nothing like getting you’re coffee and grabbing a cute dress to go with it!

At 12 o clock on a Monday my art class and I go here to gossip and get our energy for the other half of the day of printmaking. If you need a wake up call go here if you just want something fresh go here. I always go for the soups and they never do the some soup always something new. If you want something refreshing then the ginger and apple juice always goes down well. So go here if your in bendigo next

Friendly Staff and great coffee, but what I loved most is the cosy atmosphere, created by different spaces, which also keeps the noise down a little. It’s always the first café I suggest when a friend asks where we should go for a catch up in Bendigo.

Old Green Bean was my favourite spot in Bendigo. Great food and not running the normal café bunk of charging 15+ dollars for pretty standard food. Old Green Bean turns it around with 10 – 15 dollar breakfast/brunch and change things up on the menu compared to standard brunch. The baked eggs and feta nachos are my two favourite items on the menu. The baked eggs served with some beautiful sourdough toast, and plenty of moroccan spices which contribute to the flavour but not making things too spicy. The feta nachos are great for brunch or for lunch. A great amount of nice thick corn chips with tomato/onion/jalapeño/guacamole/sour cream and most importantly feta. Absolutely delicious and you don’t feel gross since no oily nasty cheese smothered over some substandard thin chips. The coffee is amazing as well. My favourite drop in Bendigo. Keep up the good work Old Green Bean

Bendigo is a great mining town with a bit more of a city feel to the place. And for a place in the sticks, boy does it have one hell of a Brunch place. To put the Old Green Bean into perspective just imagine — A fantastic Brunch venue with good coffee, a selection of around 10 Belgium hot chocolates, a decent standard menu in the heart of town. Now imanine that this place is the only brunch place in town with some heart and half empty. If this was Melbourne, the place would be pumping, lines out the door, but not here. Funnily enough we were not in the mood for eggs so a 10.30am nachos sounded good. Not the bog standard type either — all ingredients are fresh and the cheese is feta rather than some oily gunk ladled on top. Huge for the 2 of us and so, so good. I can vouch for the hot chocolate as well! Back here for dinner but had a short road trip to complete first.
