The Wine Bank is exactly that — a wine bar set in an old bank(on view street). The building is impressive both inside and out, with high ceilings and loads of wines. It appears that Wine Bank is targeted to two crowds — those who want to buy a bottle and go through the full list, and a very casual crowd who want to stop in for a cheap drink. Perhaps price sensitivity is an issue for the area, but the wines on pour were nothing special at all. The tacky paper menu and unimpressive by the glass list stop this from being a classy affair or place worth seeking out if you’re a wine buff. I’m all for individual expression, but I think the place could really benefit from a work uniform or even just a dress code — another notch that really works against this being some place special. A good spot for a casual drink of sauvignon blanc or cheap champagne, but definitely not somewhere I would recommend to visitors unless you were settling in for a full bottle.

Nice atmosphere. Good beer on tap. Bar meals at good prices. Restaurant meals ridiculously overpriced.

A US guest and I dines here last night and we were impressed with both the food, wine and setting. Our Barra was as good as you get and we were able to select and excellent bottle of Balgownie from the extensive wine list made available, so the earlier observation has been acted upon. In all a great spot, the staff were great too.

The staff here are very knowledgable and friendly. I can’t believe how many wines they have in stock! Although we didn’t have anything to eat, the food we saw looked and smelt wonderful. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a lovely afternoon tea, complete with wine and cake!

A lovely spot for lunch after a stroll through the gallery. Set in an old bank, the seating on the steps of the venue and on the footpath are highly sought after on a summer’s day. Despite having a huge selection of wines for sale in the cellar type set up, the wine list when dining at lunch is only a 1 page affair. Plenty of appetising selections are on the lunch menu — we tried the Sri Lankan curry, chicken and pine nut risotto and barramundi. I would recommend the main size of the curry and pasta as the entrée size serve is appropriately named and you may need more food. Or maybe I am an overeater! The barramundi was cooked perfectly but the mango and avocado salsa would have benefitted from a more rustic approach. The desserts on the menu were unavailable so we had to choose from the cakes at the counter. They were perfectly fine but nothing special. Service was friendly.
