Just had most unbelievable experience in Mr. Beebe. First time in bendigo, I was looking for a nice cozy restaurant to have lunch. I walked in Mr. Beebe and asked for a table close to the window. The waitress mentioned they were all booked. Then I walked to another table. All of the sudden, the bartender behind the bar said, WHATTHEFUCK to the waitress who was serving me. Later on, the bartender said,“listen to me, yes I said what the fuck because I don’t know why do you have to move tables.” He has been finger pointing me while raised loud voice. The manager of the restaurant was polite at the beginning and apologized. However, the bartender has always been rude and vulgar. By all means, this would ruin a good mood and a cozy afternoon for anyone who are willing to enjoy. Mr. Beebe was not busy at all as 60% of tables were empty when I walked in. That bartender was cleaning glasses which was not a heavy work. Apparently this has provided him time to accuse customers with abusive words. I have never experienced such in any restaurants in Melbourne.(And Brisbane & Sydney) I’m surprised with the work ethic of this bartender.

With a plethora of interesting dining options in this regional city I looked to fellow Unilocalers to help me decide and I was not disappointed. The menu was varied in taste and portion size allowing for two business travel companions to share a decent meal before the drive back. The gnocchi were heavenly pillows of potatoe goodness that melted in your mouth. The shredded goat, green olives and crusted parmasen rounding out the dish perfectly. The smoked duck light and delicous and the corn zesty juicy and bursting with flavour. Surprisingly the thick cut bread starter was extra salty and soft. The brisket is the only dish I can find fault with. Super fatty(90%) chunked and not very tasty. Service quick super friendly and great ambiance. Would return.

It was great to find such a high quality restaurant in Bendigo. We shared between 3 people and found the variety and quantity of the dishes to be excellent. The service and explanation of the menu was outstanding including sommelier. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience right through to the dessert and Pedro Ximenez sherry.

Bendigo is constantly surprising and impressing me with the dining experiences it has to offer, and Mr Beebe’s is no exception. The menu changes regularly and is ideal for sharing so everyone can try a little of everything. The waitstaff were fantastic, knowledgable and were happy to give their recommendations. We sipped our delicious Four Pillars gin(another staff pick) in between each of our dishes. It was hard to pick because we knew we were going to miss out on something else delicious and in the end we went for the cured barramundi, pork belly, zucchini flowers, seared scallops and lamb ribs and everything was divine. You’ve got to put Mr Beebe’s on your bucket list. Close your eyes and point to anywhere on the menu — you won’t be disappointed.

When travelling in regional towns straight from CBD life, it’s easy to pass off venues as «good for the area». Mr Beebe’s is not just a gem of Bendigo, this is an outstanding restaurant in it’s own right. The extensive menu is filled with small bites and share plates, perfect for grazing and trying a bit of everything. And graze we did. For about two hours, sitting at the large window overlooking the park and Bendigo, while our friendly waitstaff continued to swing by and tempt us with more options until we could no longer sit comfortably in our pants. There are chef menu tasting options ranging from about $ 50 — $ 70, but we managed to go it on our own and stuff ourselves silly for $ 75 per head including drinks and tip. Every single morsel was delicious. Stand out dishes include: — Bite size potato skins with beef tartare and truffle aioli — Decedent duck liver parfait with PX jelly & brioche — Pickled wagyu tongue, fennel slaw, pea purée, mint & bill — Duck fat baby potatoes with chorizo, basil and peppers that was perfectly spicy — Adorable little dessert tasting plate with lamingtons and lemon meringue This is an absolute stand out and must-visit if you’re in the area and if I lived closer, I would be back often. Ideal for: date night, groups, grazing, over indulging.
