I used to be a regular at their other shop in the town, but after a bad coffee one day l just never had the urge to go back, I saw this new place opening up and called in for a quick visit on the passing on my way to the west end. On my visit I didn’t know what the shop was called as there was no sign above the door, theirs is a pretty small place where there is a few seats on the shop floor and more seating upstairs. A few items weren’t labelled and had to guess what everything was, l bought a latte & a raspberry muffin that ended up being a red currant muffin. There was a few customers that came in to buy the last remaining bread, I did notice that the labels where written in Polish and not English, maybe this was to help the girl at the counter who was learning the language it did cause confusion with the person that was buying the bread as they didn’t know what bread it was. I felt here was a language barrier as the server had little English and a customer came in looking to buy two bottles of balsamic dressing, I could see at least 8 bottles on the shelf, she said that they had sold out, l pointed out the mistake. It’s an ok place to visit, but more of a take away sort of place than to sit in.

This review is simply based on popping in for some cake to go, which I did at the weekend. I’ve been waiting a while for this Seb & Milli to open, being a fan of their larger unit in the city centre. I popped in to get some cakes for my birthday and was a bit underwhelmed to be honest. The downstairs area is pretty small, dominated by the counter but there looks to be a good few seats upstairs. There were no other customers in the café on my visit, which was a Saturday at about 2pm, which may be down to the fact that there’s no real signage outside to advertise? Like I said I’m a fan of their city centre shop and came here specifically for some cakes but I was rather disappointed in the lack of choice. There were maybe 4 different options, and none of their gooey millionaires shortbread :(Maybe I’m just spoiled by the vast array available in the city centre. I asked about the doughnuts — hoping it was their Crème brûlée one which is nothing short of magnificent! — and the girl said sadly it wasn’t, it was a salted caramel doughnut. I bought two doughnuts and two pieces of chocolate brownie which came to about £8. My disappointment really set in when I got home and bit in to my doughnut, which was simply a jam filled plain dough. Sob. Why don’t they mark their cakes? The other doughnut was also different, not salted caramel, not jam. Not sure I’ll be back for cakes, as cake disappointment is just not needed!
