This place genuinely is exceptional. I came here for Sunday lunch and it was excellent. The food was excellent, the staff were a treat and the place itself had awesome décor and atmosphere. To start, the food was really something special. The starters all looked fantastic, I had lemon sole and it was fantastic. The mains were also exceptional. The hog roast was both enormous and delicious. It came with crackling and a Yorkshire(nice move) and everything was perfectly cooked. If you’re worried about getting tiny fancy restaurant portions. Stop the right now! I didn’t finish my meal and trust me, I can eat. The drinks were also awesome. I had a gin and tonic and that was really nice(frozen grapes, nice touch). As it was pork on the menu there were also a series of deluxe ciders on the menu. We had a few of them and they were insane! I can’t recommend this place enough. That said, book far far in advance.

The best food I have eaten in the UK. Wonderful flavours. Seasonal choices. Original, fascinating menu. World class cocktails. Good lighting, decent music. A must do if you are in the UK.

Worth the 6,000 mile trip! The Chef’s Table would impress, probably surpass the expectations of the most ardent of California foodies. This establishment uses the freshest seasonal bounty that is not only superbly prepared but also a visual feast. The very friendly and helpful staff(answered all questions and provided information on wine and food), the atmosphere(small and cozy), the music(eclectic and appropriate for all tastes) all created for a memorable experience. We were so fortunate to have stumbled onto this jewel of a restaurant. Just may be worth a return trip! The Homage to the Veg Men salad was incredible. We didn’t know whether to frame it or eat it, so we took a photo for future framing and ate it. Try the trice fried chips… melts in your mouth. Wish I could post a photo of the salad.

A weekend in Chester wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to Chefs Table for lunch. This was my first time here and definitely won’t be my last! The restaurant is small, which i loved, and we were seated on a table for two near the window. I ordered from the lunch menu which is incredibly good value for money. Their lunch menu is served from 12noon until 3pm and you can choose from 2 Courses at £15 or 3 Courses for £18. I ordered the roast lamp rump to start, with cheltenham beets, feta cheese, rhubarb and mint candy floss. It was amazing. The lamb was served pink and tasted incredible with the candy floss — off to a flying start. For my main course I ordered the fillet of sea trout with a sea lettuce crust, miso beans, lemon purée, chickweed, roasted cucumber and tenderstem broccoli. This dish would have been £16.50 alone! So the 3 course menu at £18 is an absolute steal. For dessert I had the cheese board with classic garnish, crackers and apple chutney. I cannot fault Chefs Table. The service was impeccable and the food was absolutely delicious. I’m a HUGE fan. I’ll find it difficult not to eat here every time i’m in Chester.
