I wanted a nice, sit-down dinner, and so tried Dutton’s on a Sunday night. Everything was perfect. Started with goat cheese arancini and then had the lamb hot pot. All delicious; even the rustic bread came out warm and crusty. Service was outstanding: friendly and just the right attentiveness. Romantic and comfortable interior. Bonus — free WiFi. I definitely love this place.

I really like this place. The food is reasonably priced and the staff are all really pleasant. Also they do take the Cheshire Charisma Card which is great!

Smooth with a capital smoo! Always a great place to take visitors to the city. Mid price food but always very well presented and cooked to order. Get there early on weekends or you won’t get a table! Thumbs up!

I LOVE this place! I implore you to try it, it’s perfect for lunch, and dinner. It’s also a great place to go at night.

We wanted to sit in the couches, however the smell from the toilets from downstairs was too strong. We ended up sitting near the window instead. Considering that we were the only other group in the restaurant, you’d think we would have the attention of the staff. Unfortunately, they were too intent on singing and talking to each other than they were about paying attention to their customers. Do not go here if you are hungry. Not so much on the food menu.

Called in for a coffee(Cappuccino £2.60) served to the table in a warm large cup. Bar and tables are kept very clean. Music is low, lights are dimmed mid week. Dutton’s is hidden down Godstall Lane opposite the Cathedral off St Werburgh Street or it can be accessed from the rows on Eastgate Street Row North.

Duttons is a nice little place if you can find it! Its tucked away down a side street but once you know its there its well worth a visit! It has a great atmosphere and the décor is lovely, its nice to go in the summer as you can sit outside and almost forget that your in Chester!(Or enjoy being in Chester) Its not exactly cheap but the food is good quality and nice. The staff are always friendly and efficent

I went here for lunch with a friend and i have to say i was very pleasently surprised. The décor was really nice and modern and the atmosphere very friendly and welcoming. The are many areas to this building a bar, a lounge the outside and every area was busy on a weekday lunchtime so is obviously very popular. The menu was varied and perfect for lunch and the prices reasonable. The only slight complaint was my food was a little cold bu it tasted nice so you can overlook this. Overall a nice experience. If I lived in Chester i would go here all the time it has everything and i can imagine in the evening it has a great atmosphere.

The management is rude and the food is horrible. Don’t ever go here. It’s a total waste of time and money. Go anywhere but here. I will never go back.

What a lovely place to eat or just have a drink, what i liked about it is my husband always likes to have a pint when we are shopping in Chester and as i am always driving i am on the tea or coffee as i am not one for cold drinks so trying to find a place that sells beer and a nice Latte coffee is hard to find but i found when we walked into Duttons we are now both happy, hubby with his beer and myself with thelovely latte done beautifully in proper latte glass all done in layers. Try one when you are next in Chester only problem is this place gets very very busy.

I love this little restaurant, I just wish so many people didn’t know about it as it can get rather busy on race day or in the summer! At weekends you may have to queue for a table, but that is a sign of a good restaurant. It is down a little back alley between the shops and the cathedral as though it is just hiding out of the way. Probably about 40 tables in there, big screen TV and all sorts of food. Lightbites start at about £6 so not cheap, but big portions and good service. The manageress is usually on the ball!

A little out the way, but very reasonably priced food. it can get very busy so best for a bite before you head off into town for a night out.

tucked out of the way but still managed to attract huge crowds, it can be hard finding a seat here. Thats because they serve excellent food in a nice bustling atmosphere. Perfect for lunch or dinner, hasn’t failed in delivering yet

Always a great place for a quick bite of lunch that’s tasty and served very well on a busy shopping day or a more leisurely lunch with friends. Fantastic service, great atmosphere just don’t sit too near the door as there can be a draught on a cold day. Always delicious!

Duttons is a great little find for eating either during the day or at night. The food is inexpensive and of a consistently high quality — couple this with good quality service and plenty of staff, and you’re on to a real winner. I’m not sure I would come here simply to drink — as the place is laid out much less like a bar and much more like a restaurant. Plus, the drinks are a little on the expensive side when compared to the excellent quality food. However it’s a great venue for Christmas parties and the like — and the perfect place to start a night out so long as you’re also having a bite to eat. It’s tucked away on a small side alley but seems to have a regular throng of custom — with lunch times on Saturday being particularly busy.

This bar and restaurant located between the rows and the cathedral in Chester city centre continues to prove to be popular with locals, visitors and shoppers alike. In the daytime it serves sandwiches, nachos and the rest of the menu and in the evening is found to be teaming with groups of well behaved friends drinking the good wines, good bottles of beers and good draught lagers and bitters on offer. Its also a great place to stop for a dreamy hot chocolate and a cake in the afternoon. Duttons does a great offer with a bottle of wine and nachos but at the time of writing I can’t remember how much it is! just get down there and give it a go!

I love going to Duttons for lunch whilst out shopping in Chester. It has such a modern feel whilst retaining some classic features. The food is lovely and you can get some really interesting varieties of sandwich instead of the usual tuna or ham! The staff are always on the ball, which they need to be as it gets really very busy! You may have to wait for a table, but they operate a fair waiting system and it doesn’t normally take long before you are seated. Everything is waitress service including drinks. Can be pricey but you get what you pay for. They do not reserve tables at lunchtimes(even xmas) due to how busy they are.

Situated down a small back alley, only a short walk from Chester’s beautiful cathedral. Duttons, despite it’s very central location, is a very welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of Chester city center. The bar has a very good selection of wines and serves J W Lees ale on tap. The food is typical pub fayre with nachos, wraps and other light bites available. The staff are always very friendly and eager to help. During the hot summer months the bar does get crowed during the day and is a favourite haunt for those people visiting Chester races. If you want a break from shopping in Chester the Duttons is the perfect place to stop off and unwind.
