I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place yet. This is my guilty pleasure. I only say«guilty» because something tells me that perhaps China China’s business operations aren’t completely legit. This makes me feel kinda bad. I worry that perhaps the staff are made to work 60-hour weeks and for minimum pay. But I don’t feel bad enough to do anything about it. I keep going back probably once every three months. They have a new cast every time. Usually, the service is fast but the waiter/waitresses English can be pretty poor and sometimes lead to wrong dishes being ordered etc. They are very polite, though. On the whole, I like them. I don’t have 100% faith that the meat detailed on the menus is actually from the animals specified. I love the chicken here. One of my favorite dishes is Chicken in Black Pepper sauce. I usually have this with some egg fried rice. The chicken in this dish has a kind of tough exterior, but with a great tangy black pepper sauce over the top which softens the chew. It makes for a really satisfying chickeny texture. I can’t explain it, but it’s addictive. The chefs do go a bit onion and pepper happy. I often find that I’m left with a mountain of peppers and onions at the side of the dish at the end of my meal. Sometimes, when I am really hungry, I might pop these on top of a Prawn Cracker and have myself a kinda Chinese Bubble & Squeak. The fresh apple juice is super green and refreshing. Oh, it’s also very reasonably priced too. Most of the mains are around £5−6. Also, they have THEBEST, MEATIEST Chinese spare ribs I have ever had. The meat to bone/fat/gristle ratio is by far the most impressive I can remember.

We like this place. The food has been delicious. The service has been warm and welcoming. This includes 9⁄10 times we get chopsticks instead of spoon and fork. Yes, I believe that they think I am Chinese and a master of the art of chopsticks. Hell no. I’m always ravenous when we go here so spoon please! LOL And hey, I am not offended at all, don’t get me wrong. Love the way the waiting staff are looking mighty sharp and on the ball all the time. The food is CHEAP! And the portions are generous. My husband loves their dimsum menu and we always have tea. Never have we been rushed out of the door even if the place is getting busier. I remember there was a short period when they had to close due to immigration problems. There was a mass mourning among my group of friends! China China will always have a special place in my heart. Lovely staff, lovely food. Thank you!

Oh China China, how I miss thee! China China is situated on Preston Street, the street in Brighton where you can find pretty much every cuisine from around the world! I first started eating at China China as a student, after a recommendation from a friend. There is an extensive menu to choose from, with ever meal costing around £5. The starters are really tasty, their crispy seaweed is the nicest I’ve ever had(not sure how they make fried shredded cabbage taste so nice but they do) and their BBQ spare ribs are without a doubt the best I’ve had. The portion sizes are really generous, especially for the price! China China became the go to place for me and my friends if we wanted to eat out and have something that is tasty as well as cheap! Definitely recommended.

Service was bad on the day we went. The waiter was pretty rude and forgot our order. He seemed to take an instant dislike to us and was more interested in taking takeaway orders than serving us. When we asked where our meal was — after a wait of about 25 minutes, he eventually came up with the starters. After another 45 minutes it turned out he’d not written down our main course. Then I went to the loo and saw the chef come out of a cubicle, do out his ear with his fingernail and go back into the kitchen without washing his hands. I pointed this out to the management and said I was leaving. They offered us the meal we’d had so far for free, which at £18 was a reasonably generous offer.

So much going for it: — location — offers loads of dishes you’d expect to find — most dishes are priced around 5 pounds But: — atmosphere is kinda lacking — vegetables are overcooked and dishes are plain-tasting — service is okay I would probably go back only if other people suggested it.

Very much at the greasy soon end– the portions are really big and as cheap as i’ve seen. Lots of atmosphere and good service too. not the place for a date I suppose, unless you are a youngster!

stay away from the aromatic duck as it’s microwaved. otherwise typical selection of the noodles and rice dishes. they tasted alright for around 5 – 6 pounds. Generous portions for what you pay. Service is ok. Décor/Atmosphere is drab. the flourescent lighting in the evening is abit offputting. can come off sleazy if sat in the corner where it’s a bit dark… the wash cloths sat on the walls could have been hidden from view as it’s a bit distracting. but it’s good to know they wipe there.

With such a huge range of chinese restaurants and takeaways available in Brighton, this is one of the worst I’ve been to. The food often tastes fattier and greasier than your average Chinese meal. Not many of the staff speak English and the plain décor and cold lighting give little atmosphere. This place is supposed to be a fast-food Chinese but the service really isn’t that quick. However, it is really cheap so if you are almost broke but fancy some chow mein, this is the place to go. But make sure you have cash on you — they don’t take any cards.

It’s a okay place if you are in a hurry. Because the food can be greasy or salty so I always make sure I ask for less salt and no MSG, that will do the job!
