Coming in on a Tuesday evening, I wasn’t sure what to expect walking in to this joint. It smelled delicious every single time I walked by, but such a simple meal seemed skeptical so far away from home. The Gin & Tonic menu drew me in. I had the Hendrick’s, which came with a fresh cucumber garnish. YAHTZEE! A little too much ice and a bit light on the gin, but refreshing nonetheless! Seeing as how I was at a poultry establishment, I went for the ½ chicken and fries. The birds are spinning on the spit behind the bar, so you can only imagine the juiciness of the meat, until you finally get to bite into the most wet and tender breast of your(hopefully adult) life! I couldn’t tear myself away from the task at hand. I was handed no cutlery nor napkin until the end, which I see now as a tactical choice, as I would have wasted several moments wiping heaven from my fingertips. The ‘tatoes were double fried, which added more crisp than I would have liked, but their house mayo hid the crunch well, adding spice and flavor to a tasty meal. Lemon wedge was a nice touch! Service is amazing! My simple American brain can’t wrap my head around«asking» for help, but the lads and ladies serving this establishment were very attentive, allowing me to sample both draught beers before making my selection. Late ‘90s/early ‘00s hip-hop added to the chill vibe. 5 stars EASY! I’ll be back for the burg… I’m sorry, the Royale with Cheese, and the Rhubarb Rudeboy! Prost!

I had to update my review to include the chicken and the mac & cheese. Since it’s called Rotisserie, I figured I had to try the chicken even though I know I enjoy the burger a lot. The half chicken is plenty for one person but is probably a small half chicken, maybe that’s just me. Honestly I didn’t know how to attack this piece of meat. Basically I ripped the drumstick off and started there… and it got really messy! The flavor was good and it had a nice juice factor. There are a couple of sauces on the table you can choose from including a BBQ, and a garlic/mustardy/mayo one. Don’t worry, there are wetnaps on the tables for you :) The mac & cheese looked like the Kraft mac & cheese from the US, but tasted better, was thicker and creamier. But the size is disappointing for the prices of the sides. I’ll stick with the burger!

This is a great looking bar-restaurant. It has high tables which might be a little problematic in a big group but is perfect for choosing between drinks and or food from the great beer, cocktail & gin selection and the chicken and burgers on offer. Everything on the menu sounded good including the salads. I was torn between ordering chicken or a burger and both came highly recommended by a regular. I opted for the Royale with cheese with an extra of blue cheese and a side of Mac n cheese. In the group I was with, I seemed to have one of the more manageable burgers. Others with my order and more extras or something like the weekly special, seemed to struggle a little more with eating the burger without a knife and fork and the basket the food came in wasn’t designed for knife and fork eating. The fries were really nice and I’m yet to try the rotisserie potatoes. They also had rhubarb crumble for dessert which I’m a huge fan of so will make a trip back to try along with the chicken. The place was buzzing by 19:30 and completely full. I recommend making a reservation. But although a rather large group, we didn’t seem to need to reserve as got there before 18:30. The Mac n cheese was a little small but very tasty. I would recommend holding sticks of the burgers. It was a brioche bun which balanced well with my cheddar, blue cheese and bacon. It was a very nice burger. Juicy and I’d go again

Being a short person I’m not a fan of high tables and chairs. There is actually a couch area but I chose not to sit there thinking it might be difficult to eat there. Regardless, the drink menu has a nice selection. There are several flavours of gin & tonics as well as other tasty cocktails to choose from. The food menu has chicken and burgers. I originally opted for the former but changed my mind when I found out that the burger special had pork belly on it. Yummmm! The burger was great. I’ll have to go back again to try the chicken. I originally ordered the coleslaw because I intended to have the chicken and canceled it because I opted for the burger. It came anyway and I was charged for it. Good thing I ate it because it was actually some of the better coleslaw I’ve had in Amsterdam. In other restaurants in Amsterdam when several people in the party order fries frequently the fries are combined into one large serving. I really don’t care for this but oh well. The place has a great atmosphere, fun and lively. It got very busy while I was there and the busier it got the louder the music got. The service was friendly and actually quite good considering how busy they were. In addition I ordered the fried chicken on the menu for take away. They appear to be fillets of chicken battered and deep fried. Nothing special though it seems they have some spice to them. Still I had to try them. I’ll have to go back for another go round because I wanted to also try their milk shakes.

We stumbled in for late snack(layover from Madrid to Portland) and wanted to head in to town. Great staff. They cooked us a few burgers, bacon, eggs included. A the best french fries I tasted and a side of cole slaw and I’m a happy man. Plus don’t forget a corn on the cob. With this you’re ready and set for the rest of the night. Afterwards go have a drink in the bar Fier next door.

Nice place! I really enjoyed the burgers. I had the Royale to go. Convenient that you can take the food with you — although next time we’ll stay and sit! I am giving 3 stars because our order of fries was partially raw. Would’ve gladly waited a little longer for them to cook properly. Also had a tasty Oreo milkshake. While yummy and exciting to find in Amsterdam, it wasn’t very«frosty.» That said, this place is great and we’ll be back. Looking forward to the chicken burger — and trying some of those cocktails!

I sometimes like to imagine what the very first cheeseburger at any huge burger chain tasted like. Well, probably like they serve here. Very traditional double hamburger with pickles, ketchup, mustard, lettuce and cheese. The bun was a bit dry and a little sweet. To me that added something to the old fashioned feeling. That is perfection: good and nostalgic food. I tried some of the chicken my friends ordered and that also made me very happy. A little spicy skin and tender meat. The fries were great and so were the potatoes. Very big plus: finally a restaurant in Amsterdam that goes easy on the salt! The staff was very nice. So why four stars and not five? Well. We had the table on the far left in the back. Right underneath that table is a cesspool that every few minutes spreads an awful stench. If you have a choice: avoid this table. Also: if you’ve ever been to Brooklyn you know that serving a few Brooklyn beers and having a cool sign doesn’t necessarily make this a very ‘Brooklynese’ place. Just be good at what you do and don’t be pretentious. And I realize that by pointing this out, I might come across just as pretentious. But! To end this on the positive side: this might be my new favorite place in Amsterdam West. Great food and not expensive. And a cool place to hang out after you finished your meal and just want to sit around and chat.

It gets busy quick — so I suggest making a reservation in you’re heading over on a weekend night. The service was friendly, and we waited for a table in the front ‘take out’ section. We watched the cooks making everything, which made it easy to know what we wanted to eat. We ordered a whole chicken, fries, cole slaw, corn, the royal with cheese and rotisseur. The burgers were big, sloppy, delicious. Exactly as you would imagine a quick bite in the states(with smaller patties). But I have to agree with other Unilocalers– I’m not convince our chicken was cooked all the way. They move their chickens from the rotisserie spit to a holding oven just below and I think that made our chicken juicy, but lose its crispy skin. Also, The«almost breakfast» cocktail has bacon, yay! but tastes gross, boo. I gave that feedback to the waiter. Also had the vodka cocktail with earl gray which was interest but I wouldn’t order it again. Also, I’d skip the salted caramel ice cream — vanilla was nicer. I’d go again for burgers and different cocktails… the ambience was great, the music was great and the price was sooooo cheap :)

Chicken was pink and cold in the middle, the cook thought this was ok to eat and unhappily reheated it for another minute but it still came back to my plate cold in the middle and far to pink to be healthy to eat. Left without eating it, staff couldn’t care less.

Great prices, spectacular food and cocktails. I really enjoy eating here and highly recommend ordering the spare-ribs. The service is pretty decent for a busy place, and the bartender is incredible at making cocktails, really a true mixologist. The only aspect that I think is a bit off. is the chicken. Every time I have tried it, it kind of has this strange mushy texture… not sure why… however everything else on the menu is great!

Had a ¼ chicken and some potatoes and an Oreo Shake. Paid 11,50 so the price is alright and the taste is good. Service is great and the chefs know what they do. Will try them again and will compare them to Van’t Spit that’s right down the street.
