Good Surinamese food at a cheap rate. Best tasting Surinamese food in De Pijp area. It is a no-frills eating joint, better for a takeaway but very good tasting food. Highly recommended.

Wow, the best roti I had in a long time and it comes dirt cheap in this ‘no frills’ place. For a veg and a chicken roti, both with an egg, we paid a total of € 14! A roti dish consists of meat(chicken or lamb), green beans, potatoe mixed with spices and a roti bread. The veg version comes with extra potatoe. An egg is optional. The food is tasty and just spicy enough for the average Dutch palate; if you prefer to add some hotness, pepper sauce is on offer. Whereas a McD is trying its best to make you stay longer, the interior of Roopram is back to basics. The two sinks come in handy as the roti is best eaten with the hands!

Whenever I am in de pijp I always try to stop in here for a visit. The meat and the roti are always top notch. The place is also pretty no frills and has the sinks out in the open because they just know you’re gonna dig into these bad boys with full force. No dirty door handles for these guys! I typically get either the all vegetarian roti or the lamb roti. I’ve never been disappointed with either one. The lamb falls apart on your fork and the spices are just right. The roti is filling but never hard and always made fresh. The price is pretty decent for roti and you can also stroll through Cuyp market across the street for dessert :)

Was thrilled to see the Roopram Roti had expanded in Amsterdam to a new location in De Pijp. I’ve frequented the Oosterpark location for some time, and ever since being introduced to Surinamese roti I’ve loved it every time I get it! I always get the roti rol kip(chicken, potatoes, green beans, curry flavor all in a burrito-like wrap), and there is something about the fluffiness of the wraps that is to die for. The ingredients are incredible as well, and it is a unique mix of flavors and foods to find all wrapped up in one. I think of it as a Surinamese burrito :) The new location is under the same management, and the food is JUST as good as the one in Oost, so have no fear there. Prices are cheap, food is amazing, and the shop is brand new so everything is pristine inside. Highly recommend.
