This spot feels super cute and authentic. The seating is cramped but the food and service make up for it. The dishes were large enough that we each could eat only a small salad and one course. The sea salt crusted fish was beautiful. You would think it would be inedibly salty but it was perfect.

If I could give this place no star I would! The most disgustingly rude place I’ve walked in to. We were three people and got put on a table maybe big enough for two at a push. When requesting to move to a table just vacated by 3 we were told we couldn’t and when asked for an explanation the waitress and perhaps manager/chef/owner told us it wasn’t allowed and literally told us to leave if we didn’t like it. Well so we did and we’ll shout it from the heavens not to go to this place. How rude, shame on you!!!

The place was busy but I got take out. The bruschetta was amazing! I would have given them 5 stars but the lasagna was over cooked and mushy and bland. But the bruschetta was so amazing so u believe that they deserve a second go and are worth it. Good portion size.

What a wonderful last meal to end our tour in Europe, albeit an Italian one in the Netherlands. A great non-Yelp review led us there and did not disappoint. We went during peak hours(which seem to be between 7 and 8 pm) and without reservations. The restaurant was packed with just two two-seaters available– They make use of every square inch so expect to dine in close quarters with other patrons. Our neighbors were friendly and we enjoyed people watching. We ordered the Tagliattele Tartufo Pecorino(truffle) and the Spaghetti Aglio e Olio and both were DELICIOUS, better than anything we have had stateside. You would think that Aglio e Olio would be easy to make but it is quite hard to find a good Aglio e Olio made right in LA — it was absolutely PERFECT here. They were generous with their truffle too, which I really appreciated. Our waitress was friendly, while the larger man(I’m assuming one of the two sons) was not so much, at least to us. The night we were there, the other son was not playing his guitar as we had read about, but we saw him very busy in the back– he came out at the end and was very friendly to us. We hear their mother cooks all the food in the back– what amazing, truly authentic Italian cooking– Bravo! In total, everything came up to around 35 euros, including wine and beer– worth every single euro and a few extra for tip even if the culture doesn’t call for it. Definitely make this a meal while you’re in Amsterdam, if you’re willing to make room for non-Dutch cuisine!

Unglaublich gut.

Great little Italian eatery not too far from Amsterdam’s central station. Good clean simple and unpretentious, this is the kind of Italian restaurant you’ll wish your city had. Order off the specials menu hanging on the wall for an extra special treat –you won’t be disappointed.

Un magnífico restaurante italiano llevado por italianos donde disfrutar de una sencilla y deliciosa comida con un ambiente relajado y algo ruidoso pero muy acogedor. Auténtica comida italiana. Muy recomendable.

The friendliest service! These people make you feel like family no matter where you come from. Gave us handwritten notes for bar directions and kept us light hearted throughout the entire dinner.

I had a wonderful dinner experience here yesterday. The food was good, the service was excellent, especially the host/cook. In addition they had AC for a hot day like yesterday making our dinner experience a great one! Don’t be fooled by the simple interior, you’ll feel welcome soon enough and the amazing service makes it cosy.

What a find! We started out on Unilocal looking for some pizza and discovered what was the best meal of our 2-week trip. The bread was delicious with small pieces of olive and herbed butter. The prices were really reasonable so we decided to skip just having pizza and instead enjoyed appetizers of calamari and really fresh bruschetta as well as pasta dishes(DO get the truffled tagliatelle!). We ordered some house wine and the price was so low we didn’t realize it was for an entire liter, but gluttonously drank it all down as we watched the night life on the street and the people playing music in the café across the street. This place would fit right in with all the trendy old school Italian places here in Brooklyn but here the crowd and the prices would be twice the size.

Outstanding! The food was great, the owner is a character and the waitress is really good and nice. This place is a gem! The octopus salad is fabulous. We both had pasta dishes and they were very good. The place is small so you get to know your neighbors and ours said everything is great and two of them were locals. This place is on our list of restaurants to revisit.

Holy amazingness! By far the best Italian spot outside of Rome. Will definitely go back for more before we leave Amsterdam. An absolute must

A little gem of Southern Italian cooking just off the main tourist drag. Homely and very crowded. Service is friendly but can be slow; but the food is well worth the wait.

This place is amazing. Go and get the special: tagliatelle with truffles before they run out. It was so incredibly good. Might have to come back tomorrow before we go back to the US.

Hole in the wall Southern Italian that just kills. Family run with equal parts talent, love and courage. Outstanding food at very reasonable prices. A gem. No menu in English but nothing unfamiliar to anyone who eats Italian. The owner has enough English to help with explanations. No problem ordering for the five of us(including two teens). Starters were excellent bruschetta, world-class calamari and a carpaccio of super fresh swordfish. Fresh pastas were amazing, including a special of tagliatelle with truffles(which could be both seen and tasted). Veal marsala was outstanding, not the typical sweet-on-bland menu filler. Pizzas looked great, will try next time. Desserts were homemade and wonderful, especially the tiramisu. House red was surprisingly good and ridiculously inexpensive. Hate to give away the secret, but it’s a must-try. Nice location, easy to find. Note, they don’t take US credit cards, only chip and pin(and cash).

Great little place. The service was good and the food was excellent. There is no English menu but the staff makes it easy if you don’t know what to order. Go for the Raviolis, made fresh and tastes great. It can be tricky finding reasonably priced food that tastes great, but this place nailed it.

By far this was the most delicious meal we had in Amsterdam. Best ingredients and home style Italian made this the comfort food we were needing. Hit the spot!

This is one of the few restaurants recommended by my friend’s French guidebook(Cartoville) and by my French friend himself. Affordable, great food — a rarity in Amsterdam.

Really good food(dishes could be bigger), very friendly staff, nice restaurant atmosphere, all of this right in the centre, close to Rembrandtplein. Not expensive at all when comparing to other restaurants around that location. Why 4 stars? Well, any restaurants that don’t take the PIN card deserve a 4⁄5 in my book. Take that services industry!

Lo Stivale D’oro was the highlight of our dining experiences in Amsterdam. Not only is the food exceptionally good, but both the owner, Mario and his staff are charming, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the Antipasti all’ Italiana, the Caprese di Bufala — which had the most wonderful fresh homemade buffalo mozzarella — and the Funghi Trifolati appetizers. Main course highlights included Scaloppina alla Milanese — which was among the best veal scalopinni we have had outside of Italy — the Quattro Stagioni Pizza, a delightful thin crust pie divided into quarters, one for each season, featuring Parma ham, salami, artichokes and mushrooms, and the Ravioli alla Salvia. Desserts were a delight, although the tiramisu, which looked spectacular, sold out before we were ready to order. Nevertheless, at Mario’s suggestion we tried the Torta al limoncello, and the Tartufo Affogato, both very enjoyable, and which combined tasted a lot like tiramisu! Don’t be put off by the restaurant’s small size, or by the full dining room. This is a small local«joint» frequented by many regulars, and while you may have to wait for a table, and though you may be a bit cramped, it is well worth putting up with these minor inconveniences for the excellent food, and the friendly atmosphere. Go now, and do say hello to Mario from the Cohens. Tell him we’re still hoping for a branch in New York.
