The Café Donnée Restaurant is a new location in the wonderful Utrechtsestraat. But the rating is really difficult — so a little description of the visit: ambiance: In the name you find the words«café» and«restaurants». The ambiance is more like a restaurant, perhaps with a bit sophisticated style. It was only one table occupied, so we got a nice table at the window. The atmosphere was bit too dark and the music sometimes too loud. But I would never go there for only drinking a coffee, it’s more a restaurant; service: The owner seems to be italian, was very friendly and humorous. He was also helpfully by choosing the menu — BUT he offered for the 3-course-menu a little plate from the tagliatelle in parmigiano(as a try) and put it on the bill! food and drinks: The service was italian and the homepage tells something about«The best food from 3 top kitchens; Italian, French and Spanish». There a three menus with different prices: a vegetarian, a meat and a fish menu which is told by the service. Otherwise you find soups, antipasti, pasta, meat, fish and desserts on the card. We tried the meat menu: a really good carpaccio; after that a nice offer from the tagliatelle(swinged in a big wheel of parmigiano and mixed with tomato sauce); then as main course Scaloppine Di Vitello(Veal scaloppine with porcini mushroom and truffle white wine sauce, normally € 22,50) — the sauce was cold, there was no tasting of the white truffle, but the mushrooms and potatos were very good. the dessert was a panna cotta which was really really delicious! conclusion: The food has strengthen and weaknesses; it is like a normal and solid italian restaurant; but the proportion from food and price is even for Amsterdam unequal and too expensive; there are other restaurants in the street where you get more for a menu; but a visit it’s definitely worthwhile!
