If a restaurant serves both Tibetan food and Indonesian food, I’m intrigued. These countries a more than 2000 kilometers apart. How can one place serve both, and do a good job? We arrived around 19pm. Our first impression: This is a Tibetan restaurant which added a few indonesian dishes to their menu. The interior decoration, the menu and the staff(cook) do not seem to come from Indonesia. And yes, we all ordered Tibetan food. Service is friendly, I had a nice Tibetan dish for one person with mushroom, brocolli and rice and really enjoyed it. The others went for the 2+ person Tibetan meals and did not really seem very impressed by their food. The low rating is based on price/quality. Tip: — Check out«iens.nl», the local dutch food website where Dutch post their food critiques, Indonesian food is very popular and it is impossible for even locals to know which place is best — Dishes for 2 persons are enough to feed 3 persons.

I thought it was OK, but my colleague rated it a 2⁄10 for authenticity. Momos were good, but 3⁄6 had broken skins. We got the deluxe meal for two and everything tasted competent, if faintly underwhelming. Maybe the best part of the meal was the shrimp chip style crisps they dropped off as we sat down. My understanding is there are a few other Tibetan restaurants in the city — will report back about those.

I had a special group menu where variety was key(though not a very good key, because you only had like 4 options). I did like the concept of presenting the same food but with gradients of «spicyness»(mild, medium, strong). Overall, good food, but I take a star off for only taking cash as payment. After a bit of discussion and insistence, they accepted the card, which actually made things worse for me: don’t people stick to the values they believe in nowadays? In the end, this experience made me question society.

Tibetan and Indonesian looked like an interesting combination to me, so I decided to try Tashi Deleg. The ambience inside is nice and seemed more Tibetan to me, so I ordered one of the Tibetan rice combinations. Afraid to say I was terribly disappointed with the food. The dishes were bland and almost entirely devoid of flavour. Service was ok, not too quick, but perhaps because the restaurant was almost full. Don’t think I will return to try the Indonesian.

I was on the hunt for Indonesian food in Amsterdam but stumbled across Tashi Deleg which serves Indonesian and Tibetan food. We ordered an Indonesian sampler which came with roughly 10 small portions consisting of vegetables and various styles of chicken and beef. As you would expect some tasted better than others but I managed to hoover up nearly everything. The bill was reasonable and it came to € 50 for the two of us. There was nice relaxed atmosphere and lots of Tibetan décor(which made me wish I had ordered from the Tibetan side of the menu) but overall Tashi Deleg provided good food and service.

My boyfriend was really trying to follow what our guidebook said, and it said to come have Indonesian food. We ordered an Indonesian sampler than came with about 10 tapas-size portions. Great mix of great flavors and meat and veggies. The server was super helpful and did not make us feel like dumb tourists. The décor was mostly Tibetan. We came away having tried a new cuisine and totally satisfied.

This place is great. My sister and I were looking for a place to try indonesian food in Amsterdam and we happened across Tashi Deleg. They serve both Indonesian and Tibetan food. The place has friendly service, a quiet and cozy atmosphere and quality food! It is clean and comfortable inside. We ordered a rijsttafel/rice table, it was delicious with generous colorful servings and diverse flavors. It was a perfect introduction to indonesian cuisine in a comfortable and relaxed setting.

Having heard that Amsterdam offers a plethora of good Indonesian restaurants, I was determined to try one. My guide book couldn’t seem to recommend me a restaurant that was actually open, but I stumbled across this one. I had a platter of some description, which was tasty and a very generous portion but I wasn’t wowed by it. A friend went for a simple chicken curry, which was disappointingly bland it has to be said. There was no curry element to it at all. However, I really know nothing about Indonesian food so perhaps my palate just doesn’t appreciate the delicate flavours.
