Ok, foodies, this is a real review. We rented a condo on the canal parallel to this restaurant. This restaurant did not show on Unilocal, why… you have to ask them, I have my own theory. But… this is also a must visit when you have a lot of cash to spare… and you are not looking for a cheap meal. If you want a real intimate experience, with a real Chef!!! Food is outstanding, creative, and sincere. Just look at the photos, enough said.

i LOVE living next door to this place. Moving to Amsterdam and having such great food right next door leaves the kitchen abandoned most of the time. Great to impeccable service(depending on staff), but always friendly, considerate and respectful. Lots of things possible, also with changing items on the dishes, which i always highly appreciate and see as a sign of great customer service. Thanks chef! Location is perfect(for me) and pretty much in the centre of the city, so easy walk from everywhere(20 minutes is anything in Amsterdam). Décor is cosy, contemporary and stylish, with decked hues, varying textures and feels high end without being super posh. Food is changing, and menus as well as a la carte is available. I usually go for the latter, because even if they look small, portions are generous. My personal highlight comes right after you take a seat, the little bread pieces made in heaven and sprinkled with love. They are so extremely delicious, i always ask for seconds. The kitchen seems speedy and efficient, but staff never rushes you, which i highly appreciate. Tyra knows how to cook fish to perfection, and i have never been disappointed once. Secret tip for warm summer nights: There is one table outside sometimes, lit with candles, so you have the street for yourself to dine. Romance pure :) Thanks Fyra for being my home away from home and making my move so much more easy :) Definitely recommend!

Stopped in for a visit during restaurant week and I have to say I am impressed. It was a bit of a hike from where we were staying so we ended up taking a taxi out. Right up front, I am going to say if you have the time and don’t mind spending a bit more on a great meal, stop here. The atmosphere is intimate and romantic. This would be a lovely spot for a special date night or evening out with great friends. Service was impeccable and professional. One in our party was pregnant and the staff was very accommodating in providing substitutions for courses she was not supposed to consume(tartare). Each course was delicious. For me the true standouts were the steak tartare, topped with a soft egg and the dessert. The tartare was a wonderful combination of flavors and the egg added a velvety smoothness to the dish that was truly delicious. The dessert was a chocolate mousse with berries and a scoop of fruit sorbet. The combination of the sweet mousse and the tart sorbet along with the berries was amazing. This was one of the best desserts I have ever had. We were also served a sweet pea soup and steak with root vegetables as the main entrée. The steak was perfectly prepared, tender and so flavorful. I loved the root vegetable side as well. The wine list offered an extensive array of choices and we had no issues finding a bottle to pair with our meal. The only odd part of the experience was the chef’s special offering — a small taste which looked like a macaron, but was a somewhat sweet stiff foam paired with herring inside. This was odd and I truly would have preferred to skip that bite. All in all this was a fantastic experience and should I happen to return to Amsterdam, I would love to visit again!

Fyra means the number four in Swedish, which was also the number of the original partners who decided to go into business together and set up shop in the Noorderstraat, one of the more quiet and ‘hidden’ streets in the busy centre. They also have a 4-course chef’s menu which they offer outside of Restaurant Week, for only a co
