I love the coziness of this little restaurant. It’s right down the street from our hotel Mercure also. Great location and very friendly service.

You’ll need to book if you want to come here at the weekend as it gets very busy and if you turn up late it will be full and you just won’t get in. It’s a local restaurant for local people really and a very good one too. I was recommended this place by a Dutch lady that lives nearb. They are famous for their tenderloin of beef and their tenderloin of horse. I won’t tell you which I had, but it was perfectly cooked, juicy and delicious. The starters were OK too, we had fried mussels, with what they describe as lobster tail. If you order the lobster tail the waiter will try to explain how they are tiny tails so as not disappoint, actually they are crayfish, very nice though.
It’s not my favourite Amsterdam restaurant, which is Castell, but it’s very close.

Not a very good steak at all, the place was empty with around 5 waiters staring from the back, yet the service was slow for refills. No wonder this place was empty. Steak was sub-​par, over-​cooked, nothing deserving of a ‘Steakhouse’ name. I could not wait to leave.

Amsterdam was my next stop after leaving Kuwait City. Due the fact I was on my bosses dime on this trip I decided to have a nice steak dinner.
I ordered my steak medium rare and started in on a nice bottle of Spanish Red.
My steak was cooked way past medium and it took forever, which is common in Europe, I explained to the waiter that my meat was overcooked and he agreed and then just shuffled off, not to return except to present my check.
I don’t demand a properly cooked steak, just wanted one that night.

The best steak in town! The incredible ambiance and waiters come as an extra bonus. Don’t try to fool around with the waiters, because they might look old and grey, but they will definitely win any discussion and make a fool out of you :) They are brilliant!
