Been there twice this weekend (it so happened to be) and I’m biased. Whereas I was disappointed in people and DJ on Friday, I had a pretty good time on Saturday. This club can be a little hard on your wallet — especially for guys paying 20 EUR only for getting in — but is a must if you want to party with the hottest crowd of amsterdam’s 27 and up. Even though they don’t quite get the idea of table service, if you want you can buy a table. I would recommend to ask some girls to come as join you to prevent you from boringly browsing trough your phone while drinking a 100 EUR gin. Serving drinks from heavy tumblers they do something right — try the wodka lime, you’ll never want to leave.

Finally a sophisticated, yet fun, lounge and club for the Gen X set of Amsterdam. The bar serves up well balanced, albeit high priced, cocktails in a cozy and private environment. When you are game for some dancing, head into the club after midnight where the rotation of top name DJ’s will definitely bring in the crowds. Early days for the club and still a couple of kinks to work out, but no doubt Club Abe has opened up a niche market and will profit greatly from their first mover advantage.
Be sure and order the bar manager’s special Monkey 47 Gin & tonic with cucumber served in the classic goblet.
