Even though I was in Amsterdam by myself, I still wanted to experience the epic nightlife I’ve been hearing about. After being kinda disappointed by the EDM scene in Paris, I was looking forward to hearing some great electronic music at the Amsterdam clubs. I just missed ADE by like a week, but I guess that’s a good thing otherwise all the places would be super tough to get in to. I was looking online for options to go out at night and decided to hit up Club Air, since it seemed bigger than Studio 80 and not as pretentious as Escape. There was some DJ group called Girls Love Djs playing that night so I bought my ticket online for 14 euro. I was reading about this place and apparently instead of paying for drinks with cash you just load money onto an Air card and just pay for drinks using that. I made my way to club Air around midnight and there was only a few people in line, so I got in right away. Once I got in I bought an Air card and loaded it up with 40 euro. If you put at least 30 euro on it, you don’t have to pay for the card itself. Otherwise, they’ll charge an extra euro for it. Apparently if you have leftover credits on your Air card you could actually get that money back by just filling out a form online. I’ll be honest, I pre-gamed pretty hard and the rest of the night was kind of a blur. I remember there were multiple different areas. There was a main stage area that had a pit at the bottom and then rows multiple levels up facing the DJ stage. That kinda gave a cocert venue type of vibe. Then there was a more private separate room that had a different DJ playing more of hip hop music. Then there was an area near the bar that just seemed like a regular bar setting. It was cool to get so many different vibes all in the same place. It’s a little hard to keep track of how much you’re spending since you just swipe everytime and don’t need to sign anything, but from what I remember drinks weren’t too expensive. They were definitely under 10 euro each though. The music was great all night and the energy of the crowd was like a concert. The only problem was that this place was so huge that it’s so tough to find your way out(especially after you’ve had a few haha). I remember I tried every door but most of them were stairwells that just led up to the roof. Apparently all the main exits were on the upper level and you had to take the stairs all the way up to get out. Overall, I really enjoyed Air. Good music and good people. The crowd at Air was pretty chill, and way friendlier than a lot of the places around Chicago haha.

My friend and I went on a Saturday night and found it to be very meh. Not only did we pay cover but also had to buy an «Air card» in order to purchase drinks at the bar(they don’t take cash or credit card at the bars). And that would have been ok except the DJs were just not that good and didn’t really get the crowd going in the hip hop/R&B room or the house/EDM room. For the money we paid and the fact that it was a Saturday night in Amsterdam, you can do better.

Searchin’ for the right disco in Amsterdam? That’s the place! Awesome hard techno minimal music, perfect location and all in the good range of price(16 € ticket 5 €-10 € drinks). Go there!

This place has a pretty impressive history in the Dutch house scene. There used to be a club in the same location called iT that helped define the house sound of the early 90’s. When last year Mark Knight had his Toolroom label night here, it felt like the perfect ocassion to visit this club. The lights are really cool and the soundsystem rivals that of most clubs. The prepaid card system for buying drinks is a little annoying but you get used to it. The staff is friendly and helpfull if you have any questions about the lockers of cards.

I was in search of a club in Amsterdam with a Dutch DJ, and thanks to Resident Advisor, I stumbled upon Air, as it was close to Door 74, my pre-funk HQ. DJ Michael Mendoza was spinning at Air, and I was not disappointed! OK, first there is a system here — even after paying for a cover, you need to purchase an «Air» card which you can use to pay for the locker, drinks, etc. My guess is tat they make a hefty profit ion the unused balance, but I digress. The main dance floor is spacious and I loved the smaller room off to the side where they can show case up and coming acts. The crowd was a good mix, or at least compared to Singapore, where the majority of clubbers seem under 20. Overall, AIr is a cool place to hang but the line moves at a glacial pace, even if you buy tix ahead of time. But still, I like the size, vibe and location and it can be a lot of fun with the right tunes and people!

AIR is a nice club next to Rembrandtplein. I have been here a few times now and each time was fun. The club has a few different bars, a VIP area with seats and tables and a stage in the middle. They do all kinds of parties, not really one style. The crowd is young and hip. I liked how there are plenty of toilets and they are clean. What was weird is that men/woman use the same toilets,. It didn’t really bother me though, I didn’t really like that you have to buy an AIR-card. You buy this card and place money on it(it’s free when you add 30 euros of more) so you can use your card to pay in the club. It’s handy to pay with but you cant see how much money is on it so you stand in line for ordering a drink and when it’s you turn you don’t have enough money on the card. meh. You also use the card for the lockers. AIR is a cool club. It not totally my style(I like places a bit more alternative) but I don’t mind going here every once in a while, when there is a cool party planned.

Well… as I am not a bit fan of Disco places… I can not give more that 3 stars. It was the olé famous IT now renewed and re open(since quite some time). In the bigger Rembrand Plain entertainment area, this is for sure a good club to go to… even with groups if you have a table reserved. It is not huge… and the big stairs on the side makes it a different place. Definitely a young crowd… for the music… depends of course from the evening. Smelly smoking room.

I came for the Afrojack«Jacked» event during ADE and I was blown AWAY by this place. When you first walk in you get a totally different feeling from the other clubs… there’s a hint of blue glow and it’s like you stepped into a different space. Not only that, I saw LMFAO in full on cheetah/leopard outfit with the fro and glasses… STARSTRUCK! Next, head to the counter and purchase an «AIR» charge card. This is what you use to get a locker and to purchase drinks at the bar-they don’t accept cash. All clubs should adopt this policy since it’s so efficient and you don’t risk losing anything as long as you have your Air card! Right next to it is a room full of lockers, big and small. Throw everything in there and lock it with your Air card. Walk through big double doors and turn the corner and get ready to be blown away! The place is set up so that the main stage and dance floor is 4 – 5 levels BELOW. So at the bottom level is the main dance floor with the dj booth elevated. Next to it are two«rooms» with bars and tables. If it gets too crowded you can walk up the stairs and dance on any of the levels. There’s also a bar at the very top level so there’s a place to chill and drink and just watch the party. The bathroom is pretty small, with some urinals for men and 2 stalls for girls. There’s another stall for guys that I used when there was no guys in line… The sound system was banging and the laser lights and strobe lights were pretty crazy too! Everyone there was into it and just wanted to dance and have fun! Eva Simons was there and sang some songs and they also had other live singers sing some other songs. At one point Paris Hilton was partying in the DJ booth with Afrojack. Everyone there was just wanted to have a good time, dance, and best of all, there was no drama. One other thing, even though you can smoke in there I never felt it was TOO smoky or TOO hot. Sadly, the party ended around 6-ish(It was originally only suppose to go until 4). Overall a great night and one of the best party experiences EVER!
