Very very cute interior but for an Italian place, the coffee is terrible! On the other hand, they have wifi and a good wine list. Didn’t try the food but like others have said the menu looks very Dutch rather than Italian, lots of sandwiches and the like.

Nice causal small spot, varied menu, and didn’t seem like it’s difficult to get a table. This is a good spot to go with a varied tastes in a party, they have a few tapas plates and then pasta/meat dishes for dinner. The Bivette of beef was cooked perfectly and on top of a huge portion of sweet potatoes. The pumpkin gnocchi was also good, but the gnocchi were very large in size, so not all the way cooked, and a little heavy with the cheese on top. The best was the olive tapenade that came in the beginning. No free wifi.

Amazing location and excellent service! Food was top notch! Super flavorful. My meat was a little dry but honestly everything else was so wonderful I totally didn’t care.

Preis-Leistung hier wirklich top!

Perfect moment with my girlfriend in this place! Some good tapas to start(pumpkins muffins, marinated salmons and portobello mushrooms with bleu d’auvergne) and the main dishes were perfect(ravioli with truffles and aubergines)! Thank you so much. With love from Brussels

We sat by the canal, which was cute. Quick to get a drink but had to waive down someone to get food. The food was pretty good, but both of our sandwiches were all over the plate. We had to reassemble them to actually eat it. We then had to waive someone down to get the check, I’m learning that’s how it is in Europe tho. Overall it was good.

Adorable spot, reminds me of Café Cluny. We made 3 attempts to meet their 10pm kitchen cutoff and failed, how and why a kitchen on this fairly busy corner closes their kitchen at 10pm is pretty ubserd. also, their closing time posted on Unilocal is 1am?

Wow! Wow! Wow! Das ist die Zusammenfassung meiner Bewertung. Wer’s genauer wissen will, warum ich so begeistert bin, lese einfach weiter Ein sehr, sehr schönes, auf zwei miteinander verbundene Räume verteiltes Restaurant: stilvoll, gemütlich, warm, kreativ. Dazu noch mit schönen Blumen dekoriert. Einfach wunderbar. Darunter war vieles, was sehr interessant klang. Es gibt auch viele Tapas und viele Specials of The Day. Da bekommt man echt was fürs Geld, und zwar viel! Viel Gutes! Alles klappte perfekt.

Found this little gem our first night in Amsterdam. Cute little place right on the canal and short walk from our hotel(Radisson Blu). The place was pretty full but we were able to walk in and sit down without a reservation. We ordered the chorizo appetizer, the orzo with lobster and the prawn pasta, all super fresh and delicious! The ambiance and food was great, food is moderately priced but service wasn’t the best. Overall I’d recommend for a good meal.

If you are used to US big city(NYC, DC, SanFran etc) standards in food quality and creativeness Frenzi is along those lines. Would have never stopped in here if it weren’t for the torrential downpour me and my boyfriend were stuck in. I very much dislike spending my money on Italian food, which to me is the least dynamic ethnic cuisine. Not here, it could certainly be called Italian fusion and was much more exciting than your typical american mom and pop. Not surprisingly, since the Dutch are very friendly, the service was excellent. Great selection of wine and beer. Loved the hip atmosphere and local artwork.

if i could give it 3 and a half stars i would. But bottom line this place is not really an italian restaurant it’s a «dutchified» italian restaurant. nice location and a nice restaurant inside. service was good. wine was very good. maybe i was misinformed by thinking it was a traditional italian restaurant because i came there expecting real italian food. my boyfriend had the pasta ravioli special. that was good. i had the black pasta with mussels and salmon. it was ok. mussels could have been better. our friend had the papperadelle with chicken. i enjoyed their dishes much more than mine. dessert we had sorbet and the chocolate tower. no complaints there.

But I just came for Belgian beer! Seriously, some work colleagues and myself were walking around Amsterdam after our global sales meeting and just exploring and doing an impromptu pub crawl. We almost went into the larger much more touristy bar just over the canal in the direction of Rembrandt Square when we decided we wanted someplace a little more quaint. You can always snag Americans on the promise of Belgian beer and the signage is what caught our eye and we wandered in for some drinks. Four hours later we left a little bit drunk, but entirely full on a delicious meal. I can’t lie about some American stereotypes and after several days of 2 slices of bread, one piece of mystery meat, and playing«Whose Sandwich got a Pat of Butter?» in grand Dutch tradition we were all ready to crush some substantially sized meals. Three of us split the charcuterie sampler which ended up being so much more than some sliced meat, cheese and olives(though all were found and excellent). There was also a warm chorizo that was insane, traditional Dutch croquettes, but served with proscioutto and Gouda cheese as a filling, and a crab cake(only alright, but made up for by the rest of the sampler). Following the sampler each of us had a different of the house recommended pasta. For one I believe it was handmade pasta and each of ours was to die for. I had a fettuccine in pesto sauce with steak tips that was fresh, light, and excellent. The other members of the party had variations on ravioli that were excellent. I finished this off with a fantastic non-traditional tiramisu, that was outshone by the unbelievable gelato that they had(that night was hazelnut and honey.) In terms of ambiance, I found it filled with quiet locals or at the very least respectful tourists. The beer selection was excellent as well with several different choices of Dutch, German, and Belgian beer on tap as well as in bottles. We moved to wine later in the meal and the selection there was solid and reasonable. I will make sure to find this establishment on my next trip to the Netherlands.

Review is for lunch not dinner. Supposed to be Italian but lunch menu is ordinary Dutch sandwiches. Overpriced and dry on plain toast. Boring interior and a touristy crowd. Only plus is location near the opera with seating near the amstel.

Great place, great service, great food. Last night I had a very nice surprise by stopping for dinner at this place. The place is quite small but tables have the right space and are nicely spread in the room. There are also some tables outside if the evening is nice and also a nice bench where you can lounge. The starter was a smoked salmon roll filled with rapes and anchovies. Very delicate and perfectly presented. The pesto sauce added to brighten the color of the dish also added a very nice bite. I had involtini as main course. A nice slide of veal wrapping some great provolone cheese and ham. Of course the meat is cooked with sage and great oil(organic). The meat was really tender and not too well done, perfect. A very nice and abundant dish. It comes with baked potatoes, again well cooked and tender. To finish, a great cheese cake served with fresh white melon and a small pot of watermelon ice cream. A cheese cake is not a cheese cake if you do not get strawberries… and right on. strawberries on top! I do not love whipped cream but that comes on the plate and is not too bad after all to dip you cake in it :) White dry whine from Umbria(Italy) … very very good! As I mentioned, service was very good. The girl serving us was really nice, gentle and knowledgeable of the food we were going to get. The pace between dishes was a bit too slow but it gave us time to appreciate the food and have a nice long dinner. Maybe if you are short of time this is not a good choice. Molto bene! :) Not the cheapest, but either not too expensive considering the amount of food and the wine.
