The food here is terrible, ordered beef with spring rolls over rice, not only was the beef tasteless and dry it was overcooked. Also ordered the phở which was lacking taste very sub standard for something that’s running 12 euros per bowl. Two hostess/waitress barely paying any mind to customers nor any issues I left my food literally sitting uneaten on the side of the table waiting for someone to take it for 20 min they were busy playing music and staring at the computer, this is a definite avoid this place if you are looking. For good food

I have been on vacation in Europe for the last 2 weeks and have been under the weather the last few days. I was craving a big bowl of phở and found Little Saigon. Got the Phở Dac Biet which is like the super bowl with all the fixings. It was super good. The meats were all tender and the broth had great flavor. The servers were nice too. If you’ve visiting Amsterdam you should try them out.

This is a tiny restaurant but the food is really good and the service is friendly and quick. Prices are very reasonable!

Stopped by at 3:30 and they said to come back in 30 mins as they were taking a break. Came back again in 30 mins as advised and was told they are still not ready yet — so come back in ANOTHER30 mins. Third time has proven to be a charm, since they let us in this time — but we had to ask them, they just kind of stared at us from the inside(wtf). Overall, food was average(had the banh mi and the lemongrass pork with vermicelli) and had more flavor than O-MAI but since the service is so spotty, definitely won’t be returning.

For a reasonable Viet bun, phở, … in central Amsterdam, you can’t beat it. And if you are home with a cold, what’s not to like about decent phở to your door.

Wow. This place is so good. Phở is the best thing for a hangover. Price is cheap for the area.

Not an authentic phở/Vietnamese restaurant. None of the workers are even vietnamese. The egg rolls here came with a sweet sauce rather than fish sauce. It also cost 12 € for a bow of phở(which wasn’t good) and almost 7 € for spring rolls. Don’t waste your time here if you’re looking for good food.

This place is great for getting some real Vietnamese phở! I’m giving it three stars because the place doesn’t have a lot of sitting, it’s quite hot and the bathroom needs some attention(door was broken). I think if the décor was nicer the place could be better. Food wise is pretty perfect so just go there for the Phở! They have many options to choose from, and many tasty dishes as well. They have great ice teas too! Their phở is amazing and the ideal comfort food. It comes with all the veggies and herbs for you to add in there and you can choose from a few meat options(raw, rare, well done etc). I keep coming back there to have their phở and I already brought two people there to try it and they loved it!

I was having a mean Vietnamese craving after 10 days of rich European restaurants and I needed some spice in my life. Decided to try this place out based on proximity to my hotel, ratings on Unilocal, and the fact there there are not many options around. I think the service was good and the servers were attentive. Better than most restaurants of the same caliber. I only ordered the phở dac biet since it was cold outside and I don’t eat much. The broth was ok. Although it had a pretty good flavor it lacked the richness that I usually find in beef broth. The other thing was that the soup to noodle ratio made it hard to enjoy the phở. I’d suggest a bigger bowl with more broth or less noodles. The noodles were a little thick and I’m not sure if this is just because it’s a regional/European thing. Overall, I’d come back since it’s relatively good and works well for cold weather. Not necessary something I’d bookmark.

We heard so much good stuff about Vietnamese cuisine in general, my wife and I planned to eat at the one nearest by. It happened to be this little eatery serving Vietnamese street food. We tried 4 different dishes I forgot the names of… Which has to do with the fact they didn’t impress us much. Ingredients seamed very fresh, which is good, and makes me give them a third star, but the dishes tasted dull. Just like eating bowls of raw vegetables and nothing more. Even the sate and other meats don’t taste like much and by the way were quit chewy. Luckily the eatery has big jars of hoisin sauce standing on all tables, so we could use that to flavour things a bit. My advise to the people in this kitchen: introduce seasoning and herbs to your cooking; it will make a big difference!

Oh how I miss cheap and delicious Vietnamese food back home! Didn’t get phở here, but my husband, cousin-in-law, and I got Bun(dried vermicelli bowl). We tried the ground pork one, lemongrass beef, and lemongrass chicken. I think the lemongrass chicken was the best, it was soft, tasty, juicy and NOT dry. The imperial rolls that came with each bowl were BOMB. The service was kind slow, but it was worth the wait. Gonna come back next time to get the Phở Dac Biet. NOM.

I finally made it in here… And dayum. I will no longer be stumped when someone asks me to pick a place on the zeedijk. In one — or rather two — words; summer rolls. Not dry or strange, but they tasted like summer. I skipped out on the phở in favor of a bun, which was rather plain but hey. Sometimes one is not in the mood for soup. Service was nice, prices made my wallet do a victory lap. :)

Loved the Avocado shake but the sandwich with pork was so so. No waiting for the spring rolls and the strawberry ice tea.

I love soup, asian food, noodles and so I had to visit this place after reading reviews. I ordered a Phở with raw beef… So now this is my second favorite soup ever. So fresh, so good, I could eat this every day. Thank you!

As an Asian girl in Amsterdam, this new Vietnamese food trend currently happening is so so amazing! This place is one of my(new) favourites! When here, try the lemon grass ice tea or the Vietnamese-style espresso with ice AND condensed milk. Then finish it off with the classic phở and banh mi! Service is great and quick, food is wonderful and it’s in the heart of Chinatown. What more can you ask for? I’ll be back phở-shizzle!

I gotta give this place 5 stars! I don’t often eat Vietnamese food. I’ve tried a handful of restaurants in Amsterdam. This place is by far the best I’ve tried! Here’s the thing. I like phở. It’s nice. It’s not great, but it’s nice. At least, that’s what I thought until I tried phở at Little Saigon! What I never liked about the standard phở was the chewy beef and chewy meatballs. It just kind of ruined it for me. At Little Saigon you can choose Phở with 1, 2 or 3 toppings and they can be any kind of beef you want!!! Naturally, I ordered one with 2 toppings, both of which were rare beef. The scent of the phở was very aromatic and intoxicating. The ingredients were all very fresh and delicious. And the flavors were amazing! I really want to go back there and it can’t be soon enough! The spring rolls… OMG! They were friggin amazing! I got one with shrimp and one with grilled chicken. We received two different sauces. I used the runny one for the shrimp and the gooey one for the chicken. I forgot their names and all the ingredients that were in it, but the very welcoming owner explained it carefully and with a non-patronizing smile. Just genuinely nice. The service, overall, was very friendly and adequate. The décor is nice and warm. The location is great. Mostly, however, it was the food! To be more specific about what really wowed me, it was the ingredients. They were all so very fresh! Every single ingredient! It helps when you have a small menu and I’m all for that. The owner, however, notified me that they are looking to expand their menu soon. You won’t regret going here. If you’re hesitant, just get the phở with 1 topping for € 9 and make sure that one topping is rare beef. You’ll love it!!!

It seems that the Vietnamese food trend is picking up in Amsterdam! Little Saigon is owned by the same people as Japan Inn, Kyoto Café and Saigon Café. The food tends to be solidly good and good value for your money. Little Saigon is small and has a fast-food/take out feel that I’m more familiar with. Vietnamese food should be cheap, tasty and filling! And Little Saigon did not disappoint. I came here for lunch and had a bowl of phở with raw beef, it comes with a plate of things you can add to your soup — tauge, peppers and some sort of basil. At 9 euros, it was a pretty good bowl of Phở. However, I found the broth to be a bit too salty but then again everything is too salty in the Netherlands for me… Food: 4⁄5 Good fix for your phở cravings, they also have salad rolls. Service: 5⁄5 It is a small place so there is really only one server, but they were very fast with the food and were super friendly. Atmosphere: 3⁄5 It is more of a eat and go place, so more of a place to grab lunch than place to impress your in-laws. It does have a hole in the wall feel which I love! Value: 4⁄5 At 9 euros for a bowl, not bad!

Is the Vietnamese food trend finally coming to Amsterdam!?! By the end of 2014, it is quite possible that in Amsterdam, we will be eating Bahn Mi sandwiches while walking along the canals and slurping on huge bowls of phở on those gezellig Sunday afternoons. Don’t get me wrong though, I gladly accept this Viet-vasion with open arms! Little Saigon is the latest addition to Zeedijk’s 50 shades of yellow restaurant scene. You won’t find large golden gongs, jade buddhas statues, or curling lucky bamboos here… and THAT is what makes it more like a real Viet-hole-in-the-wall. I came here for lunch one day and without hesitation ordered the Rare Beef Phở. Of course, I had to try their Cha Gio Tom(shrimp eggrolls) downed with my fave viet liquid caffeine — café sua da(sweetend drip coffee). After squeezing the Dennis-approved portion of Hoison, Sriracha and fresh lime into my phở, I dumped all the veggies and went to TOWN! The phở was phở-tastic! For a moment, I got caught up in the slurping and primal devouring of my phở and by the time I caught my breath, I realized my shirt had several phở splatters and I seemed to have startled the German tourists eating at the table next to me. Sooooooollyyyyyyyyyy!!! The eggroll was also great! I wrapped that phallic crispy tube of viet-filling in lettuce and whorishly stuffed it in my mouth. On a side note, eggroll recipes are tied to Vietnamese families. I make eggrolls like my mom taught me and we make fun of other vietnamese families with niet zo lekker eggrolls as if the flavor of their rolls described the lack of flavor in their family! Anyway, at Little Saigon, I will NOT be making fun of their family, for the eggroll I had tasted just as it should. ONE suggestion for Little Saigon would be to serve it with Nuoc Mam and NOT sweet chili thai sauce… we ain’t Thai, mmmmk! On top of that, homegirl who was my waitress that day was super nice! Lekker phở, lekker weer, lekker bediening… Lekker 4 stars!

«Pfuh». If phở can’t keep my attention while hovering over a steamy bowl and all I’m thinking about is the ramen I could’ve had at Le Fou Fow or the laksa I’m missing out on at Nyonya Malaysia Express, it’s not a good sign. Ok, let me just put it like this, it’s like when I’m on a date and I keep checking out other guys even though I’m trying my best not to. Lost cause really. While working my way through the bowl of phở, couldn’t help but think«will this ever end». Partly because of the huge portion, but also because the flavors of the broth weren’t complex enough to keep me interested… We also tried the fried shrimp spring roll(don’t bother! unless the waitress was wrong and we indeed did get the vegetable version by mistake) and the fresh beef summer roll(which was so-so). Couldn’t stop wondering how everything tasted so much better at Saigon Café. At least there they have those juicy caramelized lambs chops and the Xeo! Oew, and them tasty Bols cocktails, which especially during happy hour are a good deal for € 5! The smoothie one was particularly nice. Similar to the strawberry cheesecake 1 but with fresh lemon juice and fresh strawberries muddled in. And at least visually bigger. Hmmm, but then again, maybe it’s those cocktails clouding my judgment, making me believe everything tastes way better over there.

Little Saigon is the 2nd venue of Saigon Café which is opened a while ago at the Zeedijk @ Nieuwmarkt! The restaurant is pretty small(so not good for large groups if you want to sit together) and design simple, but trendy. The Phở is pretty good! I have chosen the one with 3 different meat(rare beef, beef balls and beef well done). You will get a dish with taugé and other vegetables and red pepper to put it in your Phở soup. The quantity of the Phở soup and vegetables is good in my opinion and the soup tastes great! So for 12 € it is value for your money I must say. Salad roll with beef satay was also really good! The springroll with shrimps was ok, because we didn’t taste any shrimps in it. Overall: a great addition for the China Town to taste some good Phở!
