Excellent ambiance. A great find in Amsterdam — it is defiantly worth a visit if you like good cocktails.

This was by far the best cocktail bar I visited in Amsterdam. I stopped in twice on my visit there. The first night the bartender Lucas was super nice and was happy to make you anything you wanted on or off the menu. The place has a speakeasy feel and is not super big, so if you are going late or on a weekend you may want to make a reservation. The second time I went Kevin(award winning bartender) was there and was happy to talk about his experience creating new cocktails and competing in bartending competitions, it was clear he loves what he does and is happy to share his love of craft cocktails with you. I cannot recommend this place enough if you love a good cocktail.

Need to make a reservation for weekend nights. You can whatsapp their number to do so, and they’ll whatsapp you back to confirm. The space is very small, so not much to enjoy in terms of décor. At least we were seated in the front and felt like there was no room to get up and stretch. The drinks were unique and fun. The disappointing part was they had a limited menu of maybe eight signature cocktails… whereas I expect most speakeasies to be able to concoct you a drink based on the tastes and liqueurs you like. The perk was the free olives and snacks to munch on :) Cocktails were € 15 each. And I didn’t like the taste of mine(the one with mangosteen juice, forget the name), unfortunately, which probably also colored the rest of my review. Come here once to experience it, but that was enough for me.

We really enjoyed this place. We went pretty early, and didn’t have a reservation, so they were able to serve us. Cocktails are quite inventive. They are definitely not cheap, but they do serve olives and other goodies with the drinks(I’m not sure if it’s law to do that in Amsterdam, as it is law in some US states). Anyways, the wait staff was quite friendly with us and talked to us about some of the goings ons in Amsterdam around the holidays we were visiting during. Make reservations if going later in the evening(their reservation system is a bit odd, but seems to work), and don’t be deterred by the completely unnoticeable entrance to the bar. Don’t be afraid to ring the doorbell to enter, but be careful it’s the right one, since there’s sign from people saying not to ring theirs since it is to their house and not the bar!

Nice 70’s ambiance… More intimate than a group place. Bartenders olives and Peanuts

This place is amazing and the staff is dare I say even more amazing! My wife and I visited recently and had a fantastic time at the bar top. If you’re thinking about visiting this place don’t think just do.

LOVELOVELOVE Me and a group of girlfriends went here while on vacation, great experience. The menus are cool and quirky, they’re birdwatching menus! The drinks are delicious and strong, overall great environment. Music is great and the staff is very helpful. Best place in Amsterdam we visited! Just be sure to call ahead of time and ring the correct doorbell, there is no sign!

Have you ever wished that you could go back in time to before you watched the best series ever(Breaking Bad comes to mind…), just so you can be your virgin self again and experience it for the first time? Yep — that’s how I feel about Door 74. I went probably about 3 years ago and it was one of the coolest places ever — the ambiance, the service, the music, the drinks, the having to wait for them to call you back to see if you got a reservation… my more recent visit didn’t fare so well. Firstly, the tattooed lady at the door was LOVELY. She was super enthusiastic, super friendly and super helpful. Couldn’t say enough good things about her. Our table server was ok. We had to go up to the bar a number of times on our own but he was nice enough. All in all we had 2 cocktails each(8 in total). Of those, I’d say 3 – 4 were pretty good. I actually had to take one back because it literally tasted like raw cake batter, WITHOUT the sugar. To their credit, I wasn’t charged for this drink. It seems a bit of flash over substance — 10 ingredients in a drink does not necessarily a good drink make… The other sticking point for the night was the fact that the soundtrack was pure Leidseplein. I like a little guilty pleasure now and again… I like to «He HEEEEEE» as much as any fun-loving Michael Jackson impersonator but not at a place like Door 74. With the rise of the ‘speakeasy’ style bar in Amsterdam competition is stiffer. Reinvent or stay the original course — just don’t try to do both. In summary, Door 74 has lost its allure(and yes, I rhymed on purpose).

Wow super cool venue, great service, and interesting drinks(which didn’t always hit the mark). Spent my evening here a few minutes ago(how am I going to get home smh) and was impressed by the inventive menu and how it was displayed(in toy View masters — it was like living childhood again) but some of the drinks were a miss. Would come here again, maybe with a date. Somebody swipe right on my profile pls!

Ok let’s face it, «speak easy» bars are always great! Amsterdam had few of those, but with all honesty they fall a little behind from«speak easy» standards:( Door 74 — does it all well! Shady entrance, pricey great cocktails, «special» environment! I give 5 to it among«speak easy» bars in Amsterdam. It has to be even more shady, more«mysterious» more«anonymous» and hidden to battle speak easy places around the world. Check wiki for«speak easy» to understand the concept that place follows:) And yes, certainly go there!:)

The best cocktails my partner and I have ever had. We loved the whole experience from beginning to end. The staff made us feel really special and we’re friendly and welcoming. We had the copper kettle cocktail which was incredible, and a few others which also met this standard. Have recommended to every one of our friends who visit Amsterdam!

Went there with a few friends on a Saturday night. We had a table booked for 4 but were 6 and there were no issues. Nice music, very nice uncommon cocktails, plenty of salty snacks. Good service but got a bit crowded as the night went on. I really like the way the menu is displayed. Pricey but good!

We were looking for a late bar during our visit to Amsterdam. This place came highly recommended on Unilocal,so we went to search it out. Its very well hidden, we only found it as a result of the stern note pinned to the doorbell next door telling ppl not to ring it! They could use a discreet number ‘74’ above their own doorbell so as not to piss off the neighbours. Once we were inside I was surprised at how small it was, the booths seemed very self contained so once you were sitting in them, your only view was of the(very well stocked) bar. I love people watching in bars, so wasn’t that keen on the seating arrangements, it deadened the atmosphere a bit. The cocktails are expensive, much more expensive than overpriced Dublin, or any i’ve had in London! My ‘Mrs Miller’ cocktail was delicious certainly, but not € 14 worth of deliciousness. The music playing in the background really did not fit in with the ‘Speakeasy’ vibe at all, a lot of music from the 90s or pop tunes from a few years back. As I understand it, its one of the first Speakeasy type bars in The Netherlands, likely due to the popularity of such places in the UK& the USA(we have a handful in Dublin too). There are admirable quirky touches, like the drinks menu on a games board, but the little things like the music and the mood need some further refining and polish. And ouch! The prices!

I went to this place with a couple of colleagues. An international group of around 8 people. I drank 3 cocktails; all from their ‘roll a dice’ menu, almost like a board game picking your cocktails. I like the darker and strong type of cocktails so when’s for the ‘grey’ type(right bottom corner). The cocktails are nicely presented. My first one was great, second one not too bad but the third one was a cocktail that shouldn’t exist; like drinking strong herbal cough syrup. I wasn’t impressed by the atmosphere of the place and expected something a bit more special/classy/soothing/relaxing. The waitress was witty but could have been more pro active. I hate the fact these guys don’t do simple small snacks. After three cocktails some nuts just don’t really do anymore :)

Great spot. You can now make a reservation via whatsapp +31634045122 It’s a tiny place but very sexy inside. The drinks are interesting but a bit pricey but if you want to go, I’d suggest trying to get a booth. Those tend to be the best spots for relaxing as well as people watching.

As one of the first«new» speakeasies, Door 74 has made a huge impact in Amsterdam, raising the bar for cocktails and gaining international accolades and awards. Fast-forward several years, Door 74 is still doing things right, and when in Amsterdam, you should definitely schedule a visit. The reservation system is a little different — call or text the morning of the day you would like to visit, but sure enough, I received a positive reply in the afternoon. The space is well-done, but not spectacular. And while they do not have the widest selection of spirits and liqeurs, they do very amazing things with what they have. After giving the server a description of what I liked, I was pleasantly surprised with a Martinez made with corenwyn, which was a brilliant way to start off the night before moving on to heavier drinks. The rye old fashioned was also perfect — not too sweet — and the couple of drinks I tried from their menu wheel were solid. The place was packed as I was there on a Saturday night, so if you prefer a more quiet experience, try a weeknight. But even when it is packed out, the service is great, the drinks are among the best in the world, and Door 74 rightfully claims its spot as one of the best cocktail bars in the world.

Good place. Fancy, typical cocktails. Great music. Memorable enough to write a review. Knowledgeable and helpful waitstaff in regards to picking a drink. Cute date spot. Service was adequate and timely. A-ok.

They did not respond to my phone call or text. I think the hype is over and they want to pretend that they are still a happening bar but treat your future guests with more respect and do not say when we’re in front of the door that if we did not respond you do not have a reservation and then you basically can either wait for an hour and a half or … So won’t be back at door 74!

I enjoyed the time I spent at Door 74. It was a slower Tuesday night, but the place is very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and it was fun to look through the drink selection and try to decided what to have. The drink I chose was, «The Usual» and it was terrific. A return trip is definitely in the future to try some other drinks and let the bartenders work their magic!
