Dvars

I thought the interior was quite cold and unfriendly (hence the four stars) but oh my god the cocktails. Actually it’s not so much the cocktails I should praise but the bartenders, who made me the best cocktail of my life (which wasn’t on the menu — I just said «I want something with gin…»). Prices are ok too, for cocktails in the center of Amsterdam. For quality of cocktails and service I would dare to say it rivals Door 74 across the street, especially since it gets less crowded.

So I finally had Dvars Brunch that I was so excited about!
It’s a glorified English breakfast buffet. If you aren’t a big meat eater, this brunch ISN’T for you. In the pieces and parts (ie: bacon/​sausage/​soda bread) it was all tasty. For brunch as a whole, I’ve experienced better — the buffet style doesn’t fit for what works out to be a 20 Euro English breakfast. If there was a bigger variety here (some quiches & fried potatoes maybe?) it might be ok.
If I go out to brunch, I want something that I couldn’t or wouldn’t do for myself — I can scramble an egg and cook some bacon so I’ll be visiting Dvars for cocktails and will skip on brunch until it’s been worked on a bit!

Dvars is a jazz bar with homemade products in the Reguliersdwarsstraat in Amsterdams city center. Yesterday was my first time coming to this place and I enjoyed.
The interior was nice and new, everything was in dark colors with black-​and-​white paintings of jazz artists on the walls. They had three big fish tanks which bring life into the place.
The service was good, the employers were quick, we ordered a homemade iced tea, which is normally only served at day time (we were there in the evening). They told us they could prepare it for us anyway, but that it might take a while. They were still faster preparing the drinks than most other cafes would take to just serve a coke.
Further the waiters were very friendly, sometimes a little bit too friendly: after being asked 5 times in a row within half an hour «if everything was to our satisfaction» it gets a little bit annoying.
The iced tea itself was delicious. You could actually taste that it was fresh and homemade, it was full of taste without the chemical aftertaste you have after drinking iced tea. I also LOVED the little rosebuds they used as a finishing touch on the drinks (see pictures)
In short

I haven’t been here a lot, just a couple of times.
I liked the Unilocal Treasure Hunt & that the owner explained how the food was prepared and i liked the flames on the passionfruit cocktail but if this is really helpful i don’t know: D

I enjoyed the evening a Dvars. I went as part of an event. We enjoyed several cocktails and a sampling of their food.
Cocktails were very tasty and unique. The tea was very refreshing!
Sampling of food did make me want to come back for more. And knowing that they take so much pride in what goes into the food makes it even better.
The atmosphere is very nice. The fish tanks and mirrors make the space seem very large and there is space to get away from the louder main bar area so you can enjoy the company you are with for the evening.
I’ll be back to check it out for brunch or perhaps a FAC!

really good looking modern space with a million fish tanks. everyone from the waiters to the patrons were extremely good looking when we passed through for some drinks while waiting for a reservation down the street.
two glasses of wine (very decent by the glass menu) and some beers and we were off — but really sexy place with excellent service. i would definitely return and try some bar snacks along with the drinks. i have a weak spot for bitterballen and good drink service. :)

Dvars is a very stylish and nice cocktail bar in the Reguliersdwarsstraat. It is of course a very gay friendly bar, but this bar is meant for everybody. Everything in here is beautiful I think! The tables and seats, the light, the bars and the awesome fish tanks.
The drinks are pricey but delicious so this is a nice spot to go once in a while, when I have some money to spend :) There is also a lot of finger food and even sweet desserts (delicious cheesecake!). The food is not so expensive though! The staff is very helpful and friendly and when you check in on Unilocal you’ll get 50% discount on your second cocktail so I used this to try the most expensive cocktail with champagne haha (15euros).
I really liked this place and I’m sure I will return quite some times!

A super friendly staff, great whiskey selection and fish tanks themed from each ocean earn Dvars a spot high on my list of places to return soon (and often).

Great location, great look, very stylish. The cocktails are very nicely done. Maybe a bit slow… but worth the wait. It is quite loungy early in the evening but then it gets crowded. From outside you do not see anything as the glass are all darken.
Smoking room inside which is not the usual nasty smoke room.
Place to be? Definitely. It was before called The Arch… they change the name. and the inside look… a bit less of a catwalk.
