Dinner was pretty good. I had some awesome oysters and a tasty lobster bisque to start. The shellfish platter with lobster, king crab, and several kinds of shrimp was just ok. The lobster, king crab leg and prawns were average, and the platter had 2 piles of small shrimp (2 kinds). The small shrimp were not shelled and were really not worth the effort to shell them. Meh. Overall good meal and I would likely go back here again.

The Warmest place in cold Amsterdam, found myself without a reservation on Friday night and wanted some seafood, was lucky enough to get the last no reservation table and let me tell you, it was great, the service, the food quality and the mood. Loved it! If you like oisters and seafood this is a great place to go.

Took a client here a couple of weeks ago and we were the only people dining, which surprised me as it is a great restaurant. Maybe they get more customers in the evening than in the middle of a wet Wednesday. I was told they had plenty of fish to choose from apart from seafood, which isn’t strictly true, but everything looked delicious and very fresh.
I tried the hot shrimp croquettes, which were lovely, followed by the small sole, as Dover sole looked huge. We drank a nice light Sancerre as an accompaniment. The staff were very attentive and kept returning to the table to explain all the dishes and see if we were happy with everything. I’d probably try a different restaurant next time I visit Amsterdam, as not a great fan of oysters, but if you are, I’d recommend this place.

Wow que c’était bon! Une entrée hallucinante de tartare de truite saumoné avec un œuf poché nappé d’une sauce hollandaise (bien sur), une petite salade avec une vinaigrette au riesling. Un petit velouté d’asperges blanches en soupe. Et une bouillabaisse comme j’en ai jamais mangée, sophistiquée au goût et en présentation. Autour de la table, les réactions aux différents plats étaient comparables à la mienne. Le service chaleureux et attentionné (très jolie aussi) comme j’ai rarement vue à Amsterdam en cinq jour. J’y retournerai un jour car je n’ai pas essayé les huîtres sur écaille de la région et tous les différents plats de fruits de mer servis en entrée et qui me font encore saliver.
Présentation fine et artistique, saveurs exquises, portions satisfaisantes, service digne de grands restaurants. Voilà qui fini bien ce petit séjour dans une de mes nouvelles villes préférées

What a waste. The oysters are just ok (and just get the straight up oysters, don’t fool around with their other nonsense like their bloody mary oysters or whatever… they are pretty bad). The prices were really high for the quality of the oysters and the place was empty. Avoid this place, it is a tourist trap (or at least seems to be one), there are TONS of better restaurants (even though the Dutch are not known for good food, there are some decent restaurants)… like try Bridges for seafood. That place is way better. I will not go back to De Oesterbar.
