Sehr leckere Fischsorten! Das Personal war freundlich und engagiert… Die Preise sind der Umgebung(Museumsviertel) angepasst und für Fischgerichte recht Ok.

My wife and I ordered the Fruits de Mer and a Mixed Grill to share. The presentation is impressive since they are served on two gigantic platters. The warm Mixed Grill was definitely better than the cold Fruits de Mer. The Mixed Grill was decent, but nothing was particularly outstanding. The Fruits de Mer had an interesting variety of shellfish including sea snails, mussels, clams, oysters, etc. All of the items are just boiled/steamed/raw and served on ice. As a result, they don’t have much flavor. The reason for the two-star review is that some of the mussels tasted unfresh. As some previous reviewers have mentioned, they also seemed to have a bit of sand in them too. I got food poisoning afterwards. It’s always hard to pinpoint whether that’s the result of unfresh/unclean seafood or some other factors. But it sucked regardless.

The food is very good, nice wine selection, small but good… the staff are very nice. I was dining alone as I normally do in my travels and felt like I was forgotten. 2 tables, one in front and one behind that came in after me got excellent attentive service. It was very difficult to get my waiters attention. I had to remind him I ordered wine after listening to him help the people behind me while they tasted wine and discussed. Are woman dining alone invisible? I did kindly bring this to my waiters attention in hopes that it won’t happen to anyone else. The fish soup is excellent and the fresh seafood bar items are very very good. The service at the other location in Amsterdam is exceptionally good. I ate there yesterday and look forward to going back.

If i could give a 0.5 star i would. My husband and I decided to have dinner with a friend at the seafood bar after hearing good things online. We were severly mistaken. We arrived and a sour faced hostess seated us in high bar seats. As my husband has knee problems we asked for a regular seat table. The hostess refused to move us even though there were a few available seats. The food was very expensive and our waiter was slow to non-existant. Do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else.

Fresh catch of the day fish here! Nice selection of white wines and the staff is helpful and friendly. A good place to take some time off after a busy day or a well deserved lunch.

The Seafood Bar is another must-eat restaurant while in Amsterdam. While the wait times can be outrageous if you don’t have a reservation, we were lucky to snag a bar seat. Here’s what we ordered: Bread: We didn’t order this but I needed to comment on their herbed butter… of do I? Let’s just say that I needed to remind myself not to get too full off of bread because dinner has yet to come. Crab salad: Delicious. This is not to be missed. Seriously, don’t forget to order this. Crab cakes: These were solid. Not the best I had, but solid. This was the only«downside» to our meal. Fish and Chips: Blew away all the fish and chips I had in London and quite frankly may be the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Fried perfectly, battered lightly, fresh flaky fish with skin still on… it doesn’t get any better than this. Mussels: Really large mussels and the broth was really good. Too bad about 1⁄3 of the mussels had sand in it… like a single grain in each. Kind of strange. Service was really good as well. 4 stars!

Eating out at The Seafood Bar is a sure thing for having a great meal. Have been here several times and the seafood is amazingly fresh and delicious. Despite not having a reservation, we got a table within 20 minutes as they only reserve a maximum of 30% of the tables, the rest is for walk-in. Whilst waiting we were offered a tasting of a single oyster which was excellent! We therefore ordered a full plate after that, great upsell! ;-) The mussels french-style where excellent, the mango scampi salade was average. Don’t forget to check out the wine selection in which they are very proud of and selective in. The Grüner Veltliner white wine is excellent, but got topped by this Italian wine from Naples offered to us. A rich blend of fruit, dry and freshness with complex flavours, ask for this Pian di Stio wine in 0.5 l bottles, as it is not yet on the menu! Do skip the deserts, they are quite sad and an anti-climax of a great meal. @The Seafood Bar: get your deserts fixed! Get some pie from Holtkamp, macarons, chocolate, anything else than what is currently on the menu.

I would definitely RECOMMEND reservations for this restaurant! It was packed from the moment we got there and we waited an hour(without reservations). The locals said it’s an everyday occurrence! The staff were so courteous but it could have been because my 4 and 5 year old daughters were the only children in such a fine restaurant and they were wearing their Sunday Best!!! The manager personally waited on us and he even broke apart the Lobster for our table. He was so attentive! We have to go back again!

Both times I visited here, the place was packed to the rafters. I think I was easily placed both times because I was alone and could easily be seated at the bar. Any parties of three or more were not similarly as blessed so make reservations in advance if possible. At this place I was served probably the best lobster and crab(an employee told me the shellfish was pulled from the North Sea) I have ever had. They were both mildly sweet and tasted extremely fresh and clean such that they needed no butter, lemon or any other hoopla to make the flavors memorable. The salad and the fries were almost as good as the the seafood. The large steak cut fries were actually a higher end version of the various, crisp wares sold at the local fry stands. They required no extra fanciment either. In addition to being excellent at their actual job, the servers were also extremely nice. When I return to Amsterdam, I will not make the mistake of only eating here two nights.

I was very hungry after Van Gogh museum. Opened Unilocal and found this place nearby. I tried their chef’s choice — grill plate! Huge for one person. Very fresh and tasteful, love the lobster and mussels. The place is cozy and bright. Very good place for seafood.

Some of the best seafood I’ve ever had in my life. We arrived around 7pm on a Friday night after seeing Van Gogh and Heineken. We had to sit at the bar but no big deal. They have a wonderful wine selection and also offer craft cocktails. The seafood dishes are some of the most delicious and marvelous I’ve ever come across. I had the Dutch Shrimp Cocktail and Crab Salad sandwich. My wife had the fish and chips. The homemade tartar sauce she got with her fish was the best ever. The French fries were so crisp and delicious as well. I will always come back here when visiting.

I had The Seafood Bar bookmarked in my Unilocal, but had totally forgotten about it. While walking to the Van Gogh museum, I was lucky enough to walk by and remember I wanted to eat here! The restaurant was super busy. I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. The hostess sat us(husband and me) at the bar. At first I was annoyed by this, as the people walking in behind us did not have a reservation either and were immediately sat at a table. It turned out that we loved sitting at the bar. The 2 gentlemen bartending(forgot to get their names) were so polite and did everything with a smile. We started with 6 fresh French oysters that were a perfect blend of sweet and salty. My husband ordered the shrimp cocktail and crab salad sandwich. The sandwich came open faced with a huge scoop of crab salad. It was my favorite thing I tried during my trip in Amsterdam! I had the battered fish fillet of hake with chips. I had never had hake before, but I found it similar to cod and haddock. The fries were golden brown and extra crispy. As we were paying our bill, we watched as the bartender made a pair of perfect patron silver margaritas. He was kind enough to pour us a taste. I definitely recommend ordering a margarita here! The service is top notch. The food is delicious. The restaurant is clean and beautiful. I could go on and on. What’s not to love?

Located in the main touristy area of Amsterdam, I can state that this restaurant is always packed. Loved the presentation of of the fresh seafood just after you enter, really, it is hard to resist not to order a seafood platter mix. For starter I ordered Crab Cakes as was craving for this for few months. They were good, stuffed with herbs and a little bit crunchy. I wish they were bigger! At 12.5 euros, it is way too expensive in my opinion. Then I ended my lunch with a Sole FIlet, not the kind of fish I would order normally. I chose this because I found the prices were too high for fishes, I was alone and really felt 19.5 euros for the Sole is okay but I didn’t ask about the origin of their fish. I stopped my lunch there, but was curious to try their Tiramisu. I hope to come back to try their seafood platters.

We were visiting Amsterdam & I admit I didn’t do much research prior to arriving as far as dinners go. So, I pulled up Unilocal & found The Seafood Bar was near-ish our apartment and off we went! We got there right around 6, and I am so happy we did… they take reservations but none were available, so we just decided to press our luck. A well worth it 30-minute wait later(with a bottle of wine) & we were seated at our table. People were being turned away just minutes after we arrived, so definitely either make reservations or get here right at the start of service. I started with the crab cake appetizer(they were delicious) & I had the mussels as my entrée. The boyfriend had the chef’s mixed something or other and he loved it. The portion of mussels was insane, and the broth on them was great. They were cooked perfectly. I really wanted the giant Seafood bar thing, as when we were waiting I kept watching them be built, but I decided to not go overboard. This place reminded me of the restaurant in Chicago that we go to, Fish Bar, small, packed & filled with delicious, fresh seafood options. The décor is great, super white & clean, with lamps hanging from the ceiling that look like crabs(or maybe I’m crazy, but I swear that’s what they were modeled after). Either way, definitely check this place out… worth every penny & every minute you might have to wait.

My favorite restaurant in Amsterdam. The seafood is fresh and plentiful and the presentations are outstanding. The place has white tiled walls giving it a beautiful gleam reminiscent of a brunch place. Seafood comes in large platters that stack on top of each other. The wait can be long but this place is worth it. I had one of the many seafood sampler trays and think this is the way to go here.

Went here on the recommendation of the hotel and I came here for lunch. Maybe their sushi wasn’t their specialty but it was just ok. Well presented, the sashimi was good but the rice of the sushi was quite tough. For a few pieces, was completely overpriced to be honest. I would come back but I won’t get the sushi again.

Are you a seafood fiend? Are you in Amsterstam? Go here. The hubby and I ordered the 2 person(70 euros) seafood platter(Fruits de mer ‘Seafood bar’with extra half a lobster, langoustines, King crab and prawns) and it life-changing. It came with the following delectable goodies: 1. Tiny boiler clams 2. Medium boiler clams 3. Mega clams 4. King crab legs 5. Crab salad 6. Lobster claws 7. Langoustines 8. Prawns 9. Cooked and marinated prawns served with addicting seaweed salad 10. Oysters 11. Mussels 12. Small sea snails 13. Big sea snails 14. Razor Clams Freshest seafood I have ever eaten in my life, aside from the tiny boiler clams that had way too much sand in it(so it was just not eaten). The medium boiler clams had some sand in it, so we only ate half. Not a huge fan of mussels, so left a few. Sea snails are not our thing so we left that untouched after a few pokes and bites. Other than those things(tiny clams, medium clams, mussels and snails), everything we finished and licked clean. I’m drooling as I type this. Word of advice, if you are sharing the seafood platter with someone, the real crab salad will go quick — plan accordingly! When the food is too good to be true(and it is being shared), survival of the fittest is key — it doesn’t matter if your date is your wife or husband. Service was super friendly and attentive. I liked how the staff(not just our waiter) took turns emptying our shell bucket so that we could continue enjoying and eating. We came when they first opened at noon and were seated promptly. Half an hour later, they were packed. Extra lemon wedges are free of charge as well as hot butter for dipping. The next time I’m in town, I will come back to this fabulous place — maybe secretly, without my husband.(…and order the two person platter, eat until I draw my last breath, die a glorious death Game-of-Thrones style and on my gravestone, it will read«…she loved the sea and the sea consumed her forever.»)

excited about the whole experience. Really fresh muselen, lobster and big shirmp! I strongly recommend the squids as starter, dame tasty! Lobster soup was ok, with large portion enough for 2 persons. The only negative point is the butter with prei is too oily, and the huge crab leg is with little bit chlorine smell

If you love seafood, make a reservation here. They accepted my reservation via email and we were seated promptly for lunch. The restaurant is white and modern and full of wonderful light. This place is LEGIT when it comes to fresh seafood. Although they offer a variety of salads, sandwiches, and other cooked seafood options… do yourself a favor and grab the fruits de mer. Every dish was beautifully presented and since it was only a couple of blocks from the museum district, it was a great treat and break in the middle of our day. I would definitely stop by here again if I am ever in Amsterdam!
