Blue

A really nice place with great city view. The food is pretty good. I had the egg salad sandwich which was nice, and their bread is super crispy. They have really nice apple pie! and they have nice homemade drinks!

What a fabulous find! Another great tip from the Amsterdam Unilocal community was to check out the amazing view from Blue, so we made sure we went during our trip! Fortunately, it was only a 5 minute walk from our hotel!
Scott and I had a wander around the shopping centre, then took the lift up to the very top floor to Blue (the lift really didn’t help my vertigo, just don’t look down!!)
It was a lovely clear day so we managed to get a fantastic view of the city that just can’t be beat! The service was also excellent (another thing I noticed about Amsterdam in general, fantastic service everywhere) our waitress was polite and attentive.
I opted for a chicken and bacon sandwich, delicious and warm, it certainly hit the spot, and was at a decent price too!
I’m really glad we managed to visit Blue. Well worth a visit for the sights over Amsterdam alone!

The food is good and the deserts are very yummy.
Their coffee are very well prepared
. The wait staff are very pleasant and even if you don’t think they are aware of you, they are .It’s a nice place to see the city above people’s roofs tops and enjoy a great cup of coffee or hot chocolate.

Que la dueña del negocio se ponga en contacto conmigo para agradecerme el comentario, me confirma el cuidado que ponen en mejorar y que el cliente esté realmente cómodo. Sin duda, si vuelvo a la preciosa ciudad que es Ámsterdam, volveré al Blue. Se está bien, el servicio es correcto y eficiente, buenos precios y profesionalidad en la propietaria = Sube una estrella en mi puntuación.

You probably read somewhere that Blue has an amazing view, right? You won’t be disappointed, it truly is a great view — specially if Amsterdam’s weather is in a good mood and you get a clear, sunny day. Plus: it’s a WAY less intimidating environment than the Sky Lounge near Centraal Station.
The second floor is usually closed, but you if you ask the wait staff they will let you go up to take pictures (or use the toilets). Talking about the wait staff: super friendly — and beautiful –people! The guy with dark hair/​beard is always cheerful and smiling to customers, he’s usually the one who waits when I’m there.
Besides the view, the food is pretty nice too. I’ve had the sandwiches, soup, and croissants, everything was very tasty and satisfying. They even have a real homemade lemonade with mint leaves, it’s delicious! I always get one.
Every time I have friends visiting Amsterdam for the first time, I bring them here to enjoy the view and have a quick lunch/​snack before we start walking around again. They also take reservations for larger groups and even events, if that’s what you’re looking for.

Not an easy place to track down, but worth it when you get there! We were looking for somewhere to enjoy a drink with a good view of the city, and this did not disappoint! The service was good, and I enjoyed thier homemade ice tea. A lovely peaceful spot to sit and look over the city while you write your postcards.

There aren’t terribly many places in Amsterdam that offer a view of the inner city, which is why this is one of my favourite finds. A double-​level glass box, Blue offers views in all directions, and it’s the perfect spot to watch the sunset.
Better yet, even though its on Kalverstraat, most tourists walk by without even knowing it exists. It’s still pretty busy most of the time, but its a small price to pay for the spectacular view. I’ve only ever had snacky food here (cake, frites, etc) but was impressed every time, and the prices are very reasonable!
Mostly, here’s what you need to know:
1. 360 degree view
2. Wine
3. Slanted elevator
4. Decent prices

And did I mention the wine?

Um dos lugares mais incríveis de Amsterdam.
Esse é um daqueles lugares que você não encontra se não tiver uma indicação antes. Entre por uma das grandes portas que levam ao shopping e chegue bem no centro dele. Um elevador te levará até o Blue.
Você entende do que se trata o local olho na chegada. As palavras FOOD.DRINKS.VIEW estão por todo lugar e é bem isso que o lugar oferece.
Almocei lá com a minha noiva e a comida estava fantástica, bem como os sucos que tomanos. Depois do almoço eu tomei uma pint de Heineken e minha esposa um café, o café vem com uma bolachinha deliciosa e a Heineken não tem erro.
Por fim, a vista é realmente incrível. Um dos poucos lugares que você pode ver do meio de Amsterdam a cidade de cima em 360º. Você consegue ver praticamente todos os limites habitados da cidade de lá. É imperdivel!

Good food, friendly service, great view.
Found out about this place from various sources and all said about the same as what I found to be true. So sought it out for a nice Sunday breakfast.
Not too hard to find if know what to look for. It is on the other side of the canal from the Flower Market at Rembrandtplein. Some have said to look for the Kalvertoren shopping centre as Blue is on top of it. Others have said look for the H & M which is in the shopping centre. It is easier to look for the North Face store. Then go to the top floor of shopping centre.
Food was tasty and well presented. Service was friendly and quick. But the view is what you come here for — a 360 degree view of Amsterdam.
Did not disappoint and worth the find.

This was one of the most ridiculous gem we stumbled upon while exploring Amsterdam. Did not read about this, nobody recommended going here, didn’t find it nearby or find it on Unilocal.It was ridiculous luck that we went to H&M and looked around the shopping center to keep climbing some circular flights of stairs. Did not seem at all touristy asides maybe being located at a popular shopping area.
The vibe and décor here was off the hook. Great place to just digest an amazing view and comfort of Amsterdam. Night view was just okay, day view is a whole new ball game. The place was really calm, clean, beautiful, and modern. It was the definition of cool. Time just slowed down while I was up at Blue. The WiFi was faster than McDonalds, Starbucks, and the hostel I was staying at so I was just having a blast using my phone inside. Staffs were so friendly and ease.
Life just seems so great while you’re sipping Amsterdam coffee and enjoying the amazing weather and beautiful view while you’re there. Apple pie here is amaze balls, but maybe I’m speaking for all Amsterdam pies and sweets.

The 360-​view of Amsterdam’s city center is amazing! You’re basically surrounded by the most famous architectural treasures this city has to offer: the unique ‘step-​gable’ houses. (try to spot the Concertgebouw/​Royal Concert Hall)
Despite being in one of the most vibrant areas of Amsterdam, BLUE has a peaceful vibe. It’s one of my favorite places to end a long shopping spree with friends.

This is a great venue with a SPECTACULAR view of Amsterdam, especially during the night. It is just behind the flower market but for some it might be a little difficult to find (well only for those that are not really locals), because you first need to get inside the shopping center and then take the elevator that goes straight to it. I have been here for an Unilocal event (so not really for dinner) and the atmosphere was really great, staff was very friendly and the view (I know I already mentioned it, but worth saying again) is simply amazing. Definetely coming back again.

Of course this place has an amazing view… that’s probably why you’ll go. But the service is also pretty good. We only had some hot drinks to get out of the chilly rain, but it seems like a nice place to chill and get hot drinks, after work drinks, lunch or dinner.
If for no other reason, check this place out so that you can take in a very different view of the city than you’ve had before!
Oh, and they have free wifi. Just ask for the password!

We found this restaurant from our Rick Steves guide book. You have to go into the shopping center to find the elevator. Then once you get upstairs, the view is amazing! Glass walls let you see for miles. The food was also great and well priced.

A typical new age café with a generic style and with almost no «soul». Service was ok and the menu did not contain anything special.
The only that kind of saves this place from been another café you pass by is the view of Amsterdam

Hoch über den Dächern Amsterdams, mitten im touristischen Zentrum liegt das Café Blue versteckt. Wer nach einem anstrengendem Shopping-​Tag eine Pause braucht, ist hier goldrichtig. Über den Lift im Einkaufszentrum de Kalvertoren gehts hoch in den 3. Stock. Und dann Tüten abstellen und die müden Beine ausruhen. Für eine Weile das hektische Treiben in den Einkaufsstrassen vergessen, den Blick schweifen lassen und die Aussicht geniessen.
In den letzten Monaten traf ich mich öfters mit Freundinnen im Blue auf einen Kaffee und ab und zu einen kleinen Imbiss. Der Service war immer sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Die grosse, abwechslungsreiche, etwas hochpreisige Menü-​Auswahl lässt kaum Wünsche offen und die leckeren Speisen sind ansprechend angerichtet.
Geheimtipp nicht nur für Touristen!

Good food, far better than expected. The view is lovely although the café is not as high up as I expected (for some reason I was expecting something closer to Boston’s Top of the Hub). Very clean place with tons of natural light and a friendly waitstaff. I’d definitely go back

Fantastic find in Amsterdam Centrum for a coffee, a drink or a small bite. It is located atop a shopping center and really under advertised thus making it a perfect place for respite after hours of wonderful walk along the grachts on a beautiful sunny day. One thing I really enjoyed about Blue is the view of the city as it is higher than most buildings around. Also, the big glass walls that covered the restaurant allows natural lighting to penetrate and uplift the mood of the client. A perfect site indeed.
The food menu at Blue is quite limited to mostly small bites or snacks and the same is true with drink (some wine, dutch beer and the usual coffee and tea). The food was average but the service is very attentive.

Just discovered this place — awesome views of Amsterdam. The other review pretty much says it all — definitely worth a visit for a cup of coffee.

Owned and run by two sisters, this place sits on top of the Kalvertoren shopping centre. Since these sisters took over they’ve refurbished both the place and the menu. Blue sports a modern, fresh look and the menu has sandwiches, burgers, bitterballen and the like made with fresh ingredients. Oh, and there’s a 360 view of Amsterdam too. Just saying.

Situated on the third (high above the second) floor of a shopping, this day-​bar offers in of the few terraces with a view.
Drinks are bot cheap, but ok.
