Go here go here go here!!! Food highlight and we didn’t enjoy any cafes earlier in the day(if you catch my drift). I ordered the cannible burger, it was really and truly one of the best burgers I have ever had. I had the house cannible beer which was also very awesome and I recommend the both. My girlfriend had the zucchini burger and she had the same comment that it was also the best. We eat alot of burgers. Make a reservation of you can… well worth making special plan to go.

I tried vegetarian food, paleo diet, soy-milk, even shrimp(they’re the cockroaches of the sea), so I am not one to reject a new experience. When I was invited to this place, I prepared as best I could — saw the original Hannibal trilogy and a few vampire movies(closest thing to a royal cannibal I guess). The staff was really helpful even though we had no reservation. Once we got our seat, one of the best parts of the restaurant came to light — the menu! They give really funny names to their dishes, so I ended up having the«Le Modest» while my gf had«Le Magnifique». I guess we were both thinking about each other when we ordered, although she’s too modest to admit it. Small note for the menu item«L’Absurde» — a 1000g steak, that few lived to tell the tale. There is even a hall of fame for them, right by the entrance, with a board of who ate this beast and how many times they did it! I could already see we were in for a treat when the cutlery was placed at our sides. A strong, purposeful fork paired with what I’m gonna call a «murder» knife. Didn’t know how much meat was coming round the corner but whatever it was coming our way, we were definitely ready to hack & slash our way through it. Then, the meat! Wow, I don’t know who that person was, but it was delicious(probably a former cross fitter). The meat portion is huge and I liked the fact they it was served on a small meat carving board, to really let you feel like a butcher. Meat lovers will rejoice of course, while vegans might reconsider some annoying life choices they made. As for the space, it’s this cool dark environment, not very noisy, where you can have a normal conversation or seat as a group without disturbing others too much. There are these cannibal references all over the walls which make this place really fun and unique. Dare to enter if you’re around the area ;) Bonus point: open till late(1 or 2 am I think). Hard to find places like this in Amsterdam.

So still doing my «Best Nachos Hunting» in Amsterdam and I have to say that by far, those were the best I had ! Big big portion ! The place is great but super crowded.

Burgers and ribs are excellent. Rib meat fell off the bone and sauce was perfect, not too thick or sweet. Burger cooked perfectly, toppings balanced it out withput overpowering the meat. Prices are very reasonable.

This is one of the few places in Amsterdam serving food until 2 – 3 in the morning. It’s horror themed– they have puppets and dolls hanging off the ceiling by the staircase, antique clocks and other kitsch. They have a full bar and a cocktail menu, which is somewhat unusual for a casual place in Amsterdam. The food is always solid, and satisfying in the«this probably killing me» kind of way. Happily returned over and over.

A friend of mine had been visiting both of the Cannibale Royale restaurants before and since he was speaking very highly of them. Naturally I just had to check this place out myself. Though they have some great burgers, the other meat selections are pretty awesome aswell. They stay open pretty late so thats special. I chose the Le Cannibale Royale burger. One I can advice to all the meatlovers out there. Pulled pork, bacon and a huge burger! I must say the French fries could’nt be worse. Very dry and a little to salty so Ill guess Ill just keep it to burgers then. Cant wait to get another one!

Visiting from London for the weekend, we popped in here looking for a great burger and found great everything. When we got there around 6pm on a Saturday evening, it was packed. The host gave us an hour wait-time but then found a spot for us outside at a communal picnic table in the middle between two first dates.(That made for some good eavesdropping, let me tell you.) I ordered the Le Classique burger(English Cheddar, sautéed onions, tomato and crispy bacon) and my girlfriend Le Cannibale Royale(Sauerkraut, English cheddar, roasted pulled pork, fried onions, bourbon flavoured BBQ sauce) and started with the garlic bread & salted butter(mostly because we saw one of the dates order it and love carbs). it could’ve used a little more garlic, but overall, really yummy! The burgers were PERFECTLY cooked, though a bit messy. Neither of us could finish them, they were so huge. Or maybe it was all that garlic bread… We washed down our meal with two local Amsterdam IPAs, the namesake Cannibale Royale and another bottled double IPA I can’t recall the name of – Both were good, but the former was better, in my opinion. The service was friendly and sweet, and reasonably fast given how busy they were. Their homemade peppermint shards at the end were incredible. It was so good, we didn’t even remember to take a picture. I think that’s saying something.

Their Cannibale Royale burger is INCREDIBLE. Tender, juicy pulled pork drenched in bbq sauce laying on top of your burger is just so good. Their appetizers are great but they don’t leave you very hungry for your meal, so I think it’s better to wait without ordering anything extra. Burgers in Amsterdam don’t get any better than this.

Really cool atmosphere, great beer selection! I got a delirium tremens for only 4 euro. I shared the special burger called the«Fancy Pantsy.» It was amazing. Worth the price. It had a quail egg on top, truffle mayo, prosciutto, ect ect it was just phenomenal.

I cant recommend this place enough! Till now it is with no doubt my favourite meat restaurant in Amsterdam. I love everything about this place: original decoration, superb friendly staff, the meat is delicious really tender and well prepared, side dishes are excelent, price is reasonable… I have tried all the menu and everything is great. Don’t forget to book a table if you go to the standard dinner hours but you can drop by if you go earlier or later that time.

The burger is amazing and the best one I have had in Amsterdam so far… and I have had a lot of burgers! I could really leave the review like that and get the main point across, but I’ll keep going to give you the big picture! Why only 4 stars? Well, I’m trying to save those for the places that blow me out of the water. But this was really close… like 4.5 stars close. Let’s break it down. *Burger: Excellent. I can’t wait to come back just for the burger. Note: The burgers come with sauce that is not mentioned on the menu. Just FYI. *Garlic bread: Almost like garlic knots, and delicious. I’m happy to shove those in my face any time of day. *Sides: You order them separately, and that’s okay. They are over-priced, but look at where this place is, then deal with it. *Drink: It seems that you can only order cocktails on the menu as I tried to get a Midori Sour, then a Cosmo and couldn’t. That’s their prerogative and I respect that. So then I asked for the only other thing on the cocktail menu I would drink… a Martini blanco cocktail with prosecco, lime and mint. And they were out of Martini… a ½ hour after opening on a Friday night. *sad face* So I got wine and it was okay. *Dessert: We got cinnamon ice cream which was amazing. We tried the pear ice cream which was perfect in every way. And I was able to try the cheesecake which was the fluffiest cheesecake I’ve ever had. I think there was a hint of lemon in it which also made it refreshing. *Service was rather good. The woman who was serving us was happy to explain everything and when new people came to the new(we had a party of 7) she was there shortly after to get their drink order, then their food. *Décor is weird. There’s no other way to describe it. Clocks on one wall, old photos on another, wood carving masks on another, and then the dolls hanging from part of the ceiling. Overall, GREAT experience. Just remember to make a reservation or you’ll wait at least an hour!

Hidden in an alley near the Spui you’d probably miss the restaurant if it weren’t for the«A» board that you have to walk around in the middle of the alley. The entrance is non descript. However, the place was packed and more people were coming. Those without a reservation after 20:30 had average a 30 – 60 minute wait for dinner. The restaurant was dimly lit but more than adequate lighting giving it a nice cozy feel. The music was upbeat. Three of us had burgers while one of us had a salad and an order of nachos. Two of us had the Cannibale Royale burger which was a nice thick meat patty with bacon and pulled pork on top and sauerkraut on the bottom making for a very interesting taste. Fries were a side order served with a small container of mayonnaise. The nachos were the best looking and tasting nachos I’d seen since being in Amsterdam. It was a pleasant surprise. The tables and chairs were the tall wooden bar kind that were not real comfortable but adequate. They have a nice selection of beers, some on tap and more in bottles. They also serve cocktails. I had a nice and refreshing margarita. The service wasn’t that bad for as busy as it was. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and will return.

Great place for good meat & beers! Located in former(and famous) old student bar behind Spui. Atmosphere is a combination of raw Western(wood and metal) and a creepy haunted house(dolls and knives in cubbard). It reminded me of the Sleep No More experience in NYC. We had the nacho’s, salad and burger. WOW. Amazing meat, but the bun could have been more home made. The home brewed beer is an absolute winner! Together with the nacho’s and burger, 2 thumbs up!

Great place for steak(even after hours). Only thing is they cannot really manage the tempature of the steak… Asked for rare, was cold– asked for medium, was rare, but asked for wel done and was beautiful medium(yes been there more than once). Good beer from tap, try their own brew or go for IJ beer. Side dishes are very good, have to order separately. I like the big knifes you get with your steak, even though steaks are very tender. Challenge is the 1000gr big steak, eat one(or two) and get a place on their wall of fame.

I was immediately drawn to the great name of this place. This is pretty close to being the best name for a burger and steak place. So is the logo. We’ve been on vacation in Amsterdam and went by the place to try for a table. Sadly it was pretty much booked solid, but we were able to make a reservation for the day after tomorrow. It was an early one, right after their opening time. We were some of the first guest and had wonderful and fast service from all staff members. Therefore I can’t say how good or bad the service is at rush hours. We ordered the Classique Burger with french fries. And WOW, without any doubt, this was one of the best burgrs I ever ate. The Meat was the softest meat I ever had. The Buns were soft and the burger was juicy, even without a sauce. After this deliciousness we ordered some water and got a whole carafe full of it. We even ordered another one. The Biggest surprise to me was, that we did’nt have to pay anything for the water. 20+ points for this. Generally the prices are amazing. 30 € for two burgers, 2 sidedishes, 2 soft drinks and 2 carafes of water is a pretty good deal. Especially for this wonderful burger. One of the best I ever ate :) btw. with the bill, we even got some free magnets and mints. Lovely idea

This place was… AWESOME!!! We waited almost an hour for a table– call ahead/and spent that sipping Heineken and watching people — both of which were excellent. If you love steak, burgers or anything meat-centric — you cannot miss this place. If you packed your appetite — call ahead for the 1 Kilo steak. That’s 2.2 lbs or 36 ounces… I had the royale and it was insane. We started with the nachos– because we were looking for something decidedly un-Belgian. They were very good, but large! Overall an excellent experience, great vibe, decent service and fantastic food.

Although October 4th was like a spring day, sunny and light, full of promises of good things to come, going inside this place the atmosphere would make you believe you turned the wrong corner. A grim feeling takes over you, the pictures on the walls are warning you, the masks are telling you to hide, the dried up flowers are telling you life was once beautiful. Was this a good decision? Hell. Yeah. I decided to go for Le Magnifique(because I am) and my friend for the classic burger(just because ;)) both for a reasonable price(around € 7,50 each) and a lovely Weiserstephan(or something alike). In total we paid € 23. Not bad eh? Would I go back? Defo: 1. Although not too big — like me — Le Magnifique was definitely a tasty burger 2. The young staff was quite friendly 3. Dinner + bar open until 3am(yay!) And as I write this review I try not to think of the next meat frenzy i will have here because I will be back and it will be messy… Hell. Yeah.

Cannibale Royale feels hidden and away from the flashy tourist traps. It resembles more of a college hangout spot in Lower East Side with the exception of those over-the-top thriller movie props. The food was amazing. Quality meat and awesome burger. What else can you possibly ask for? Definitely get the bitterballen and garlic bread. Creepily addictive.
