Found out about this little place on Unilocal and decided to add some more pictures for the place. This is not on 5th, it is closer to 44th and 20th, just a little walk away from the hustle and bustle of 5th. All of the patrons were locals, and the manager and waitresses are super friendly. My husband and I had the fish tacos, shrimp tacos, shrimp ceviche, chips, and guacamole. While the food was not the best we have ever had since we live in Anaheim, CA and are used to having excellent Mexican food, it was still really good and fresh. Shrimp quality was excellent, and service was superb. Our very large meal, with 2 drinks added, only cost the equivalent of $ 22USD. Thanks, Mr. Mario´s!

What an excellent find! If your looking for something off the beaten path that offers authentic food, pricing and hospitality, check this place out. We had a great time! You won’t find better ceviche in Playa. We’ll be back!

Visited Mr. Mario’s today. We are staying on 5th and 38th, so it was about a 6 block walk to Mr. Mario’s. The food was absolutely fabulous, and the prices were very low. $ 4 for shrimp tacos and beers were $ 1.50. We had the Shrimp Cocktail, Guacamole and Chips, Shrimp Tacos, Fish Tacos and Fresh Conk. The owner buys his seafood fresh everyday directly from the fishermen at their boats as they come in with their daily catch. My mouth is still watering. It’s a little off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. I would suggest walking west on 46th(away from the beach), then take a left on 20th and a right on 44th. It will be on your left with the bluish green awning. By far the best seafood in Playa Del Carmen.
