Good food, bad service most of the times and the restrooms are discussing. One time I was in the bathroom and there was some sticky clear liquid all over the mirror! Gross(the person who used the bathroom before me was on of the cooks. Another time their computer was not working and the orders were not getting prepared. After 1:15 minutes our meal arrived and the server said«sorry no internet» Then we wanted to pay because we were late to go back to work and she wanted cash because they had not internet and I told her that we did not have any cash, so she wrote the numbers of my card on piece of paper and she even made a line for the Tip. ________

Here’s a story… I once bought 1lb of shrimp from the market with the intention of cooking it the day of for dinner, but I ended up leaving the shrimp in the fridge for two days as I never got around to utilizing the shrimp for dinner. Then on the third day, I decided to cook the shrimp after I already cooked different dishes. My senses were already dull from cooking other pleasant dishes that I had no idea what was wrong with my shrimp until my husband asked what died. Granted, it was not what I had first cooked — but it was the aroma from the shrimp that overwhelmed everything else. That’s how it was with the spider crab roll I had yesterday. After eating some delightful rolls such as the lion king, or spicy salmon roll during happy hour. I ate the spider crab roll, not understanding what the bitter taste was after a few bites. Then came the moment of truth, the final piece of the roll — the end piece — where most people just eat the inside of the roll. The moment I had the crab alone, I could tell — it was bad. The taste was as bad as the smell from my shrimp debacle of 2015… It was too late to mention to our waiter, though he was kind, we ate the majority of our meal and didn’t feel it warranted the hassle of whatever they would do if they corrected the issue. Anyways, will I be back? Maybe, though unlikely because I’ve experience better sushi elsewhere.

I love this place because when I go I sit in the same section and get a server that is Japanese and reminds me of my mom. The sushi is delicious and fresh. My favorite thing is they put everything together on one big platter for the table instead of individual dishes… so fun. My only complaint is that they need new dishes. .every cup and plate we had was chipped. Or maybe they need a new dishwasher.

This is like an oasis in a busy mall. The service is quick and friendly. We had the chicken Katsuya curry which was delicious. Also, the combination with steak and tonkatsu. Our server was on spot and super friendly. At the Bridgeport Mall, this Sinju is one of the best places to have a good meal.

I’m normally not a big reviewer and hate to complain but after my experience tonight I have too. Heard rave reviews about Sinju for years and was really excited to finally try it! Well… After being seated we were delivered waters.(Table of 4) Normal procedure. But right before the first drink I noticed food in my water below the ice, then food in my wife’s glass as well… no biggee this happens, so I walked inside and alerted the buss boy. He was very helpful and got us clean glasses and we were fine and ready to roll again! I ordered a beer and an gyoza to start. Mind you it was not busy at all… I finished my beer before the appetizer and figured why not, happy hour I’ll ask my server for another… she never came… so again I walked inside and got my beer and my sister her lemonade… no biggee. People get busy. The order… very simple. 6 rolls. And an app called a heart attack… we waited… and waited… and waited. An hour later our rolls showed. We got 3 of what we ordered and some other poorly rolled rolls. Our server did not understand this was not what we ordered. No sign of the app«the heart attack» either. No biggee. I asked where it was and our server Masae said it was coming right out… at the end of our meal still no app. I politely asked her to cancel it and she said I was already being made and had to charge me… also she charged us for the rolls we didn’t order and never brought us the rolls we did order. I hate to be a Debbie downer but this place is sub par. I’d recommend bamboo if you’ve got a sushi fix. Maybe it was an off night. But it was awful service and food.

The nigiri was on point! I was pleasantly surprised to find a fresh delicious shiso leaf with my ika which made me feel that this has to be one of the best Japanese restaurants in the PDX/Vancouver area. In sitting by the sushi bar I learned that all of the chefs have had from 12 – 30 years plus making sushi & it shows. The temperature of the fish was perfect, the texture was smooth & the rice was firmly packed & perfect size. Not one piece of nigiri fell apart with my chopsticks & I could it eat just like I did in Japan. There is a mixture of Korean flavors in the other dishes such as the lettuce wrap-spicy pork-definiteKorean flavors, but the beef was definitely a Japanese flavor. Having lived in both countries, I was impressed with the ability to have two distinct Asian cuisines integrated on the menu, but never in a dish. Now that is attention to detail. Place is a bit too high end feeling for a building in a mall area, but the staff still have that down to earth let me help you enjoy your meal feeling, so you can easily focus on your friends & food! I will be back & will bring my husband that is an Italian Japanese chef & very picky! I honestly believe he will like it!

Wife and I are new to the Portland metro area and we had struck out at a few sushi restaurants. Sinju and Bamboo are by far our favorites so far. Sinju never seems to be overly packed, we can always get a table quickly, or sit at the comfy bar area. The signature sushi rolls are the big draw for us. We can pretty much choose these rolls blindly and they will turn out to be good. Sorry to be brief, but in short, we would highly recommend Sinju.

Excellent service. Excellent food. Only complaint is my drink wasn’t sweet. Their sushi, I had the lion king and the cherry blossom were good. I liked the cherry blossom better. Their appetizer were also amazing. I had these tuna jalapeño things and they were so delicious. This place is definitely worth a try.

Sleek modern décor, delicious fresh Sushi and Sashimi as well as other Japanese traditional favorites, and an excellent full bar make this a date night and family favorite.

I went to lunch here on Sunday, February 28th. I will not be going back. I was seated at the sushi bar. Hostess was friendly enough. The waitress took almost 10 minutes to take my order. I ordered a roll and agedashi tofu. While waiting for my food to arrive, I observed the kitchen staff and just the general appearance of the place. It was NOT clean. I was there at 12:30 pm and the serving area(where the sushi waits for the hot food) was really disgusting, with streaks of food and fingerprints. It’s not like they had gotten busy and this was from Sunday: It had to have been there from the day before if not longer. Then I looked up at the ceiling above the sushi chefs and there were food spatterings and such on the ceiling! The beautiful textured wall was also filthy. I observed a plate of sushi on the serving/waiting area being watched and checked on by a waitress. The hot food was not coming out of the kitchen… there seemed to be a breakdown and she was visibly agitated. My roll arrived — it was OK… not great. I had the«sunshine roll» and the salmon portion was pretty cheap, plus it was advertised as having«crab» inside, but it was imitation crab. I feel for $ 13.95 it was not a good value. The agedashi came later and was disappointing, with very little bonito broth, plus no spoon to eat it with. I had to ask for this second dish as well because it was taking a very long time. The waitress was nice, just very slow and inattentive. When I went to leave, I noticed there were wrapped candy mints on the floor by the hostess table near the door. She literally stepped over the mints on the floor and asked me how my lunch was. I told her it was just ok, and there seemed to be a problem in the kitchen. She proceeded to tell me they had a cook«just quit last week, just walked off the job» and acknowledged there was a problem. I went here when they first opened and I have to say, it’s taken a turn for the worst. To reiterate, I will not go back.

When this place first opened, I enjoyed it. But I stopped going there a few years ago because I got a lunch special, and the fish on my nigiri was old and fishy… If you like the trendy, contemporary atmosphere, it’s nice, but I didn’t think it was worth it for smelly fish :/

Great spot for happy hour. Sushi is good but had some hit and misses at times. Pieces are not evenly cut or may have too much rice. Still good sushi compared to some other spots. The atmosphere is nicely done and the red room is comfy.

Not only do the Blazer stars come here, but all walks of life. I have always enjoyed this epic sushi, and if your feeling like you have a «sweet tooth» I would recommend trying the Deep Fried Cheesecake! Out of this world good. Wonderful environment and great for family’s or business gatherings. I would like to however see that place shine on the interior and bathrooms, sometimes there is a lack of that final touch, like wiping the top half of the mirror so your kids don’t see profanity on the mirrors.

I have been to Sinju a few times now and I really enjoy their food. I think it is very well priced for the atmosphere and quality of food they serve. My favorite is the baked crab roll. My boyfriend loves the tuna poke.

We went there for lunch but I got the lunch menu and my husband got the dinner menu! Our server was chewing gum and I saw him take it out of his mouth, play with it in his hands, put it back in his mouth and return back to serving food! I asked the server if the sou based broth has meat in it but he didn’t know and it took him 10 minutes to go and get an answer from the kitchen. As for the food we got the stir fry noodles and really liked them. Chicken was beautifully grilled and the dish was aesthetically presented. They are in the suburbs where I usually go with low expectations. They should definitely work on the service part.

Swanky, swanky. Ambiance is lovely. Food expensive enough to make your wallet curl into a ball. I got three sushi rolls and miso soup for $ 30 + $ 6 tip. Service was good. Our waiter was super attentive. I never felt like I had to look for him, even though it was busy. Miso soup is pretty delicious. Only second in taste to Ichidai Japanese Restaurant in SE Portland. The sushi was alright. It satisfied my craving, but wasn’t something that caused me to say«wow!» I expected more considering the price. However, the quantity you get is enough to make you feel mighty stuffed. They do not skimp on roll size or filling, that’s for sure. Save room for dessert! I didn’t and I wish that I did so that I could try some of the ice cream. I would most likely not come here again unless a friend invited me or I wanted to splurge on a date night with my husband. Overall, good but only for a special occasion.

This review is for the Bridgeport location, as I think the Pearl is better. Sinju has gone downhill over the last 2 years. Service,(high turnover) atmosphere, but most importantly the food. We had the seaweed salad. The portion was huge. And the flavor was very very strong. It did not seem fresh, and is was room temp rather than chilled. We left most of it, but Speaking of fresh, We ordered nigiri, hamachi, salmon, maguro, and albacore. All the fish was almost tastless. It wasn’t old and it did not have a strong flavor. Just bland and served at room temperature. We also ordered 2 rolls, spicy tuna and spicy salmon. Mushy consistency and both tasted similar because the fish was bland. Only regular soy sauce(no low sodium) and the wasabi was dry, not very good. Very disappointing. The waiter was disengaged. We sat outside, and when people were seated(not very busy) a bus boy started sweeping the ground around chairs. Why was this not done before 11:30 or before they opened the patio? We won’t be going back. 2 stars was generous.

Convient sushi restaurant located in Bridgeport village. Great for pre-movie dining. We keep going back to this place because my husband likes the sushi and the tempura. Less inclined to visit again n as the place always seems to be lacking. It could be the staff as they always seem to be new or it could be little details such as the menu looking old and the bathrooms unkept. The food is always pretty good and the bar serves an excellent selection of good cocktails and wine. We always seem to get in without a reservation. I think they need to update their menu and pay attention to details and it should be fine.
