I’d like to address Kristine and Asi’s recent posts about the wedding reception at the Eagles’ Nest. Having hosted hundreds of weddings over the last several years with more than three decades in the hospitality industry, this review is certainly atypical and an aberration from our satisfied guests. To address a few key points per the review, a free shuttle was provided for your event because at this particular time of year, many of our guests are elderly with physical limitations and parking is limited at our facility. I also would like to point out there was parking available on site for the bride, groom, and photographer. The Eagles’ Nest had no involvement in many of the concerns expressed in your review — we were the venue host and did not have responsibility for several of the event logistics such as the wedding cake. We should note that the announcement about the last shuttle leaving was made by your DJ who worked directly for the wedding party and not by the Eagles’ Nest management. Therefore, the tone of the announcement about the end of the event was under your purview and control. At the Eagles’ Nest, we pride ourselves with providing our guests with amazing, memorable experiences with kindness and attention to detail. We’re in the hospitality — not the hostility — industry. The bitterness expressed in this review flies in the face of our commitment to service. With that said, congratulations on your wedding and we wish you all the best. With Kind Regards, Billy

Eagles Nest is a lovely, small resort which is reminiscent of an elegant Swiss or German vacation chalet. We come to Eagles Nest for a week every Thanksgiving and for another week every other year. Billy, who runs the bar, is a great guy. He remembers everybody’s name and drink preferences(even though he only sees most of them one week a year). He’s a very kind, thoughtful, friendly, and sincere person. If you like to hang out in a loud, hard-drinking bar, this is probably NOT the place. If you enjoy good conversation with friendly people and an excellent bartender, this is a good place to go.

Billy is the best!!! Makes you feel like you have known him all your life. He is an excellent chef, if you get the pleasure to have him cook for you. Made our vacation.

This is one of the best bars I have ever been too. We come here yearly on vacation and they are consistently wonderful. Billy is an amazing bartender! He’s very attentive and friendly and makes you feel right at home. He has great stories and is an amazing chef.(Having sampled his creations in the past) They have great drinks. No beer on draft, but nice bottle selection. Wine is very good as well! If you like to be treated and feel like a local and feel at home in vacation this is the place to come in. Very low key and relaxed and great place to grab a nightcap.

You would think that hosting a wedding reception and renting out the space, along with paying for a full service meal for a large group of guests would grant you permission for a car parking space for the bride and the groom. You would be wrong. Not only did the«guard» tell my husband and I that we needed to turn around our car and take the shuttle to the reception, but he yelled at us. Our guests were warned in advance that the parking would be separate. Of course most of them forgot, but we did put that information on the invitation and our website. However, we were under the understanding that we would be able to rush up there in our car after coming from the post-ceremony photos. We also thought the photographer was allowed to park there, but he was told to turn around as well. It was horribly upsetting as a bride to have someone yelling angrily at me right before I’m supposed to greet my guests. We had also been told that we could bring our own cake and store it in the refrigerator at The Ridge, and that it would be brought to Eagle’s Nest two hours before the reception. It was instead stored in the deep-freezer and only brought to the venue at the start of the reception. This gave the woman decorating it with flowers absolutely no time, but it also meant that after dinner when we went to cut the cake, we could hardly manage it because it was still frozen solid. I would have liked to have a talk with the venue’s wedding planner about this issue, but she left halfway through the appetizers to go to a concert. I’d be fine with that if everything went smoothly, but obviously it didn’t and there was no one there to help us manage it. Our contract said that we had the venue until 9 pm, but that we would be allowed pay for another hour if we needed it. We’d also been verbally told upon booking that The Eagle’s Nest didn’t happen to be lodging anyone during the weekend of our wedding, and that the live band wouldn’t be a problem. The manager of the venue came in BEFORE9pm and VERY rudely shut down the sound system and told our guests to leave. I felt more like I was a dog crapping on someone’s lawn than a hostess at my large, expensive event. Lastly, the venue told us was that we could come back the next day to pick up the bottles of wine which hadn’t been opened(we’d brought our own). When we came back to get the wine, it was gone. These people are horrible. If you ever give them business, you can’t say I didn’t warn you. I rarely even write a bad review, but no one should be treated so awfully on their wedding day.

I don’t know if I will be able to cover all the great things the staff did for us. What a wonderful and much needed experience we had here. We were in Tahoe for my sisters wedding, her outdoor wedding, but the weather was not cooperating. It was the night before when we called eagles nest, the weather for the next day was 90% chance of rain so it was time to make some emergency calls. We explained our situation to Billy on the phone, he was more than happy to work with us to have the reception here, he offered a great rate and even let us come at 9 in the evening to see the place. Billy met us with a smile, he has to be one of the most gracious hosts we have ever met. His accommodating and thankful spirit was very well received by our family and all of our friends and guests. We were able to bring all of our declarations and food which is a big plus in our books! The atmosphere here is classy and calm. Surrounded by the forest and the side of a mountain, one of the most gorgeous views for a meeting or reception. Billy and the bartender worked hard to make what could have been a disastrous day turn out to be one of the best days and receptions ever! Billy even went out to rent linens especially for our reception, what a hardworking, pleasant and thoughtful person. We can not say enough of how thankful we are to Billy and the eagles nest. Our guests appreciated having a warm and beautiful place to sit and eat and celebrate my sisters marriage. We would highly recommend having an event here or just stoping by for drinks!

I’m pretty stunned by the positive reviews here — that was certainly not our experience a few weeks ago. I was a guest for a relatively small wedding reception and was staying at the Ridge Resort just down the street. I drove with two other passengers up to the venue and parked in one of the numerous open parking spots — there were possibly 3 or 4 other cars parked at the time. Just as I started walking away from the car, an Eagles’ Nest employee came up and informed me that I could not park there. Apparently, he was turning others from our party away as well, including the wedding photographer(how they expected him to get his gear up there is beyond me) and even tried turning away the groom. There was an overabundance of parking throughout the night. I can understand wanting to keep some spots free for other guests — but leaving all their parking empty and forcing guests to go back down and take a separate shuttle was just a crappy way to start the evening. For the most part, the rest of the evening was going uneventfully well as the band played, people danced, and drinks were consumed. Then, abruptly at 8:55pm, they started calling out that the last shuttle was leaving and that everyone had to leave. Mid-dance, mid-celebration, they forcefully shut the party down. I still had a great time at the wedding, but it was despite the efforts of Eagles’ Nest Lounge and Bar. It’s simply not a good venue to host an event in — so take your wedding reception or hosted event elsewhere.

I just had my wedding reception at the Eagles’ Nest on July 25, 2014 and I was more than amazed with everything. First of all, the location is beautiful with stunning views of the mountains. Not only is the view amazing, but the interior is just as great. When I walked in, I was at ease as they had completely set up my reception as discussed, even better, really! We were greeted with a drink and were constantly asked if we needed anything. They really knew how to calm a bride down. Billy was amazing… what a host! Not only did he make sure everyone was having a good time, he called a bunch of cabs for us after the reception as well. He was helpful and so friendly. The staff was so attentive. Food was amazing. Everyone kept raving about how great it was. The executive chef actually came out and introduced himself to me, which made it so much more personal. All in all, I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. My reception was so much better than expected. Everyone is still talking about what a great time they had and how it was one of the best weddings they have ever been to. Can’t wait to go see Billy again when we go back to Tahoe. BESTWEDDINGEVER!

My patents hosted my little bros rehearsal dinner here. I was very impressed with everything. The food was very good. The views were spectacular!!! The setting is perfect. They were slightly under staffed for our group but the workers busted their humps to ensure we were satisfied. Can’t ask for more than that. The bartender Dianne was great. She wore many«hats». I highly recommend this place to anyone.

Another thumbs up for Billy. He is a nice guy behind the bar who will chat with you about your day and what else there is to do in Tahoe. The view of the mountains are awesome and it is my type of place to drink at. It is also conveniently located in ‘the loop’ so you don’t have to drive down the mountain for a quick drink.

Billy is simply the best. We’ve been coming here for nine years, and Billy has consistently given superb value and service the entire time. We enjoy catching up each year, learning what the new local restaurants are, and what businesses have changed — for better or worse. Whether we’ve skied or just hung out all day, we look forward to starting our evening here.

The Eagle’s Nest is definitely worth the trip around the loop. It’s in a timeshare that used to be a boutique hotel so it is not as big(or ugly) as most timeshares. The views are great, there’s usually a game on the lone TV or some eclectic music playing, and there’s a lounge area with a fireplace and a 12 or so seat bar. The crowd is a mixture of people staying at the timeshare, tourists sent there for a drink by their hotel(or another bar), and locals. The locals run the gamut from bartenders at other bars grabbing a pre-shift drink(it’s Tahoe), business folk, and the occasional né’er-do-well. Summer and winter drink specials, including Mojito’s with mint grown by the proprietor. Watch out for the Blue Monkeys!

Amazing views, welcoming staff, and great drinks. I love this place!!! If you’re staying in Zephyr Cove or Stateline, or anywhere near the Heavenly Stagecoach or Boulder lift, this is the place to go. Actually, if you’re staying in the area, you don’t have much to chose from as far as bars go, but even if there were 100 bars, this one would top my list. It’s the perfect place for an after ski drink. They also rent the place out for weddings cause its so pretty :) So a couple of things to note: it’s inside of a timeshare hotel, so you just go through the main doors and it’s to the left. Also, it’s on the one-way street loop at the end of the neighborhood there, so if you’re going there for a drink after skiing and you’re parked at Stagecoach, you have to drive back around the one-way street to get to it.
