I saw pan roast on the menu and knew I had to stop. I’ve come twice now and my belly has been happy on both occasions. I ordered the pan roast combo with sausage and it was amazing! It was filled with deliciousness with huge chunks of seafood and sausage. I think it took me 2 – 3 bites to eat the pieces of lobster. The flavor was also on point with more of a thick, creamy, bisque texture. I also ordered the Caesar salad with crab and that too was perfect. The dressing was light and I enjoyed the crab layered on top. There was enough crab for each bite and I couldn’t even eat it all(even when I was sharing). Again, another huge portion!!! I also really enjoyed the service. The chef on that Saturday morning was so delightful. He was hard working and kept the pan roast area spotless. I was so impressed with his work ethic! He took pride in his kitchen and the food he served and that’s what I like to see!

Upon recommendation and since I was staying in the hotel, just had to try this spot. It’s a nice little spot located inside the casino. Your seated right in front of the chefs who cook your dishes right in front of you, pretty neat concept. I opted for a soup style dish and oysters, the wife tried the pan roast with lobster and rice. Both dishes had a nice setup and the portions were eye opening. Not too bad, we’ve tried restaurants similar in LA so expectations were pretty high. For me it was pretty plain, nothing really stood out and the two plates pretty much quenched our hunger. We also tried the shrimp salad, which they almost forgot but quickly made for us. The portion was huge and we were unable to finish but enjoyed. Overall the service was fair, and the food was good. Kind of expected more, and the food was a little plain for my taste. Good place if you crave seafood and conveniently you can dine and quickly got the tables.

Really enjoyed this small restaurant, i believe it holds only 18 people. Had the bouillabaisse, clam chowder, a couple of oyster shooters and it was all good. Worst thing there was the bread roll, not worth eating. One thing i did was to add pasta to the bouillabaisse to get all the wonderful juice. Price was about $ 56 with also 2 beers. I would go again

My goodness they are not stingy with the seafood. You get such a good amount for the price. Super tasty stuff. The employees were super down to earth and nice. Loved that they make the food right in front of you. We got the clam chowder, which they split into two bowls for us to share, and that was super delicious. Almost as good as some of the one I’ve gotten in SF. Also the cheesecake was awesome.

I love this place! For a while, I wanted to go back to Vegas just to visit the Oyster Bar. I did not know that they have a place here as well. We got super lucky. We passed by around 2 pm on a Sunday and there was no line. We had a party of 5 and they were able to arrange for us to sit together. I’m not a big fan of bar stool. Although I didn’t request to not sit on the stools, we were offered regular chairs on one side of the bar. The service was friendly and fast. I didn’t do much gambling. Even though it’s in the middle of the casino, it’s really to the entrance of the casino. In other words, I didn’t have to deal with crowds and walk through a casino like I did in Vegas. I waited for seatings late at night for 2 hours when I was in Vegas! So, in comparison, this is heaven on earth. I did pass by around lunch time and saw a short line of people waiting to be seated. I wish they did to go orders, but I don’t think they do. We ordered clam linguini, house pot roast, oysters, clam chowder, and a crab chowder(a special). Everything tasted super fresh and delicious. The pot roast and the linguini may be customized to spice levels between mild, medium, or spicy. Medium was more like mild and spicy was more like medium, in my opinion. Our neighbors ordered the crab leg appetizers(another special, I think), and it looked delish!

I’ll definitely be back here next time I am in South Lake Tahoe! It’s inside the Hard Rock hotel and if you come around noon, the line can be pretty long but it’s worth the wait. Otherwise, go around 2, hopefully you can hold that hunger for a little longer. No TO-GOs so it will be perfect so you can eat all of that food. I would recommend the Gumbo, it’s about as good as can get as the one you would have in New Orleans. If you are into fresh oysters, get a dozen of their seasonal ones! $ 21/dozen

Linguine and shrimp with a little spice and white sauce. This was so good. I got medium heat for the spice and substituted clams for shrimps. Great amount of shrimp and I didn’t stop eating until I was finished. Shrimp Caesar salad here is very good too, not as much shrimp as this dish but still a good amount. This place is usually packed but worth the wait. They’re very quick dishes and the convenience of the bar makes it quicker and a very satisfying eat. I have only received compliments about this place. Very satisfied!

Looking for some delicious seafood for lunch or dinner? The Oyster Bar is the place to go! Located in the Hard Rock Casino, The Oyster Bar serves many seafood dishes. Want some oyster shooters? Check they got four different kinds! How about oysters by itself? You guessed right they have that too. I mean what restaurant would have«Oyster» in their name if they didn’t serve any? Their main dishes consists a combination of crab, shrimp, lobster, clams, or fish with different blends of seasoning. Of course if you just want one type of seafood they have dishes for that too. A detailed menu can be seen on their website or the picture I posted. I ordered the Bouillabaiss and my fiancé ordered the House Pan Roast. If you want a mixture of seafood, Bouillabaiss is the dish for you. It contains fish, clams, muscles, shrimp, crab, and lobster with a nice light tasting sauce. Possibly a wine sauce. Delish. The House Pan Roast was more of a creamy red sauce with a Cajun flavor. It contains a mixture of shrimp, lobster, and crab. A side of rice is included so that was a nice touch with the dish. Both dishes looked like it might not be enough food but at the end it was plenty for the both of us. The Oyster Bar seating is… well bar style. There are about 20 seats available so the line can be long at times. Some chairs are taller than others and if you get a taller one, you can watch the chefs prepare dishes right in front of you. I saw three cooking«pots» on the side I sat at so I am assuming there are 6 of these«pots». They will throw all the ingredients into the pot and once it is done they pull down on the handle to pour the food into a bowl. The server and chefs are friendly and made our experience enjoyable. The Oyster Bar is definitely worth a stop. Enjoy!

I hadn’t been in here inside the Hard Rock for over a year and was wandering around checking out the place and casino when we saw this oyster bar restaurant… aptly called«The Oyster Bar». It sits about mid way on the casino floor and had bright lights, can’t miss it! We were really on our way trying to find the Fire Break for some lunch and passed this place. I’ve never been here before, so what the heck, let’s stop for a quick taste of some oysters… not a lot just a taste. Looking over the menu I see they have salads and of course clam chowder here. The salads and soups seem reasonable priced, but the rest of the seafood is a bit on the higher price end of things, I suppose it’s the«I’m at Tahoe factor». Cioppino for instance was $ 23 and even a bowl of Linguine and clams was $ 19. We didn’t want to get to involved with a big bill here and this was suppose to be a quick bite before the Fire Break restaurant, so we went for the ½ dozen oysters for($ 13.00). The full dozen was($ 21.00). The oysters came up quick. We shared the 6 oysters, so this was just the right amount, without committing to a large order. I like mine just straight up, no sauces on it. They tasted fresh and had that oyster taste, but I got a slight graininess to the texture, but not bad. I’m not sure I’d like to come here for a full on meal, due to the overwhelming noise of the casino floor along with the piped in overly loud rock music, this would not make a place I’d like to spend an extended period of time at. I’ll say the food here is probably competent and the service is fine. You’ll have to deal with the Tahoe pricing for what you get and the whiffs of smoke from the casino floor area, but if all that’s fine with you, you’ll enjoy eating here. Me? not so much … maybe with more alcohol!

Love the area in the casino this place is in. You can smell the delicious food soon as you walk by. My boyfriend and I sat in the corner, it was perfect and didn’t feel too close with the other patrons. We started with clam chowder — slightly chunky and creamy at the same time. Yum! Then we ordered raw oysters which come with 3 sauces — Oysters were good and I enjoyed all three sauces. Lastly, my boyfriend and I shared the House Pan Roast — The sauce was good and it was nice being able to try a variety of seafood with it! The entrée also comes with a side of rice so it’s nice to share if you’re not too hungry. I also tried the Bloody Mary Oyster Shooter, which was interesting but not for me. Next time I’d like to try the Cioppino or the Bouillabaiss!

3.5 stars… can I say that? Biased… everything was good. .almost. It started out good, no line at 4pm on a Friday.(I’m terms of the palace station that could be a bad sign, now that I think about it.) I went around the counter area, needed seating for three. Onesies, scattered about; so I had to wait. Though the nice couple on the end were awesome to scoot down, I was informed there was two other seats ‘reserved’. Bahhh. No big deal. I’ll wait! Line of one. … for about 5 minutes, then yayyyyy seats opened up! Yahoo! Score!!! Now, too round up the rest group who wandered off to gamble *sigh*. quick to clean up the space and turn the counter space! On to ordering and the food. Easy peasy menu, looks like the oyster bar(same name as palace station, huge shoes to fill). Look and feels like the Oyster Bar, as well. Dozen oysters — spot on. Great taste, briney and chubby.. too bad not sure where they came from.. Bummer. They were good, I’m still alive, and no problem there! Thumbs up! Shrimp Louie– jumbo sweet shrimp salad, could feed 4 people. Recommend sharing this bad boy. This is not a side salad, by all means. This is lunch and dinner. Dressing is tossed into the lettuce, so if you’re a nit — picker, or dont like creamy dressings. …ask for it on the side. Drum roll. the House pan roast(medium heat) gahhh wanted this to be good.. No, great.. No.. I wanted it to be killer! Such high expectations! Medium heat must have been the temperature of the pot. Because, spicy just got lowered to a new level. Or, someone needs to bring spicy back.(Not gonna lie, it’s not the same as PS.) YET, if you have to have chunks of lobster, lots of crab and shrimp in that creamy pan roast, it’s still a huge portion to share. Get the two bowls of rice, and split it. Service — I really thought they had the rhythm down here. Water check, extra rice check, check… Then, for some reason at the end of the meal the server seemed to stress out all at once, shouted across the oyster bar, something.. Unsure what she said. Odd. Maybe someone called in sick. We just wanted the check, check. It got busy now, and we just want to go, check? Maybe she needs a little help here. Finally, the check and the stressed smile. It’s great Lake Tahoe has an oyster bar from the south side, just need to keep that southern charm going in service(even if it’s southern Nevada), I think. Never let them see you stress out! Good for couples and groups no larger than 4 if you’re trying this for the first time. Oh, and I did see children up at the bar, so it seemed ok for kids, odd, but ok as people are doing oyster shots next to your child. No biggie, you’re in casino. :-)

December 27, 201511:00AM Its two days after Christmas, and the snow has kept us out of the Tahoe Basin, and this place has been on the list for months. I’ve read the Unilocal and my expectations were very high, and, I’m happy to report, my expectations were met, and we’ll be back. My wife and I decide to share everything for the meal, and we begin with a «Bloody Mary» that arrived spiced up and the way we like it. We also started our meal with a dozen oysters on the half shell. We didn’t specify a priority, and so the kind folks working explained that we had four from three different locations, and they were being served with three different sauces, which we’ve promptly forgotten, but enjoyed in the moment. If you’re patient, look up the pictures I posted, there’s a before and after shot… Really very good. We then shared a Caesar salad and there was really nothing special about it, but we wanted some vegetables. Our last course was«The House Boil», and today they were out of mussels, which were filled in with additional quantities of other items. We enjoyed clams, shrimp, crab legs, sausage, corn, and potato to try to recall all the items. They explained that the liquid was a beer broth base. Again, we really enjoyed this, and it was plenty for the two of us. When you eat here you eat at a bar and watch the folks make the meal, and we had the opportunity to talk to the folks near us. They were very nice, and the woman explained that this was her third meal in two days. She’d enjoyed dinner the night before, came by around midnight for some more good stuff, and was sitting with us at 11:30 for lunch. There’s not a lot more to say. My Unilocal friends are correct. This is a pleasant addition to the South Lake Tahoe Seafood scene, and I’d recommend it to anybody. Enjoy.

The Oyster Bar is located on the inside of the Hard Rock Casino if you’re looking for it and can’t seem to find it. As stated in the name, it is literally a bar where you sit around the counter top and get served drinks and food from staff behind the counter. This also means that there is limited seating. Depending on the time that you show up, sometimes there is a long line of customers waiting for an empty seat to sit at the bar. The seating is basically first come, first serve. The first time I came here, there was a line, but the wait wasn’t too bad. It was maybe a 20 minute wait. The second time around, my bf and I were able to find two empty seats immediately so we didn’t have to wait at all. The menu is fairly small just like the bar so it kind of makes ordering a little bit easier since there is less to choose from. We ordered the Dozen Seasonal Oysters($ 21.00) which came with these amazing dipping sauces(black pepper mignonette and granny smith apple mignonette). For oysters at a casino, they didn’t taste old or nasty. They actually tasted pretty fresh… surprisingly. I mean, we didn’t get sick or have diarrhea so I guess that’s a good thing. I ordered the House Roast($ 21.00) which is a pan roast that basically has all the seafood in it so you don’t have to decide between the crab pan roast, or the shrimp pan roast, or the lobster pan roast. Might as well get the House Roast which includes all! I asked the chef to make mine spicy so he sprinkled some hot pepper flakes in there. It wasn’t as spicy as I’d like it to be, but it will do. The meal also comes along with a small bowl of steamed white rice. I have to say that the House Roast had a lot of flavor and tasted pretty good. Don’t expect a bowl with just a lot of broth and barely any seafood because they hook you up! I was not disappointed when every bite consisted of either lobster tail meat, or crab meat each time! What?!? The Bouillabaisse($ 22.00) comes with shrimp, lobster, lump crab, mussels, clams, and white fish and it was delicious! The New England Style Clam Chowder($ 8.00) didn’t taste like your regular clam chowder and was pretty damn good. Oyster shooters($ 6.00) tasted just like oyster shooters. There was nothing special about them. The service was overall pretty good even though the staff had a lot of customers to tend to all over the bar counter. The prices of the food seemed fair since it is seafood and we all know seafood is sort of pricey.

Bar counter seating so theres a long wait in line to get a seat. Food was well worth the wait though! Oyster shots — I had the tequilla shot. They were generous with their shot, although I felt that the tequilla was a little watered down. Fresh oysters — Yumm! We also had the clam chowder, mussels and house pan roast. All were super yummy. I love the warm dinner rolls that were provided and used it to dip in the pan roast sauce. The establishment is rather small, but the service is great and it was fun watching the chefs make the food. Highly recommended!

Spur of the moment trip Staying at the Hard Rock to celebrate my boyfriends 39th year of life we ended up here at The Oyster Bar around 9:00PM. There was a small wait, but not too crazy. The spot is a little bar area inside the casino, not a separate restaurant, we were not too sure about this place, we LOVE our seafood, but wanted to give it a go. After we were seated around the bar, we were promptly asked if we wanted to order drinks, we actually ordered Oyster Shooters while we considered drink options. Bloody Mary Oyster Shooter: sweet bloody mary mix, could have used a hit of Tabasco. HUGE oyster waiting for ya at the bottom. Tequila Lime Oyster Shooter: Loved it. The brine really made it easy to drink. Another HUGE oyster! Drink orders taken, wine was delivered, food was ordered and bread was offered. Lump Crab Appetizer: Large Portion. Super fresh crab meat. Served with a soft aioli. House Pan Roast: Loaded with Shrimp, Lobster, Crab served in a tomato cream sauce and a side of rice, the portion was impressive and the amount of fresh sea food was truly worth the price we paid. Bouillabaisse: Another GIANT portion. My bowl was packed to the grim with Lobster, Shrimp, Mussels, Clams and White Fish in a flavorful, garlicy, tomato broth. Every single bite I took was juicy and flavorful, the mussels and clams were not overcooked at all. Even though I was so full, with a lot of seafood left, I continued to sip the broth off my spoon, it was just so good. We ended up taking our left overs to go and I must say, they were great as a second meal a day later as well. The Oyster Bar is clean, the staff are friendly and fast. I like getting to watch them hustle around and make the food right in front of you. Really attentive without being annoying or pushing. Great Work! Two San Francisco Foodies left this little Oyster Bar REALLY impressed. I would eat here again the next time I am in town.

After debating whether or not to stand in line and wait to be seated, I am SO glad we did. The Oyster Bar had hands down the best seafood I’ve eaten in a long long while. I had their oysters and it was delicious. The 3 sauces that accompany the oysters are a granny apple sauce, a horseradish, and the pepper sauce. All three were bomb! We saw the chefs cut the oysters open right on the spot so we knew we were getting it fresh. The house roast pan roast is seriously the most delicious seafood dish I’ve ever had. In it were crab, lobster, and shrimp. And let me say they are not stingy at all with their portions or their seafood. The dish also came with a large side of rice. I finished half before I was stuffed. The best thing about this place is that the chefs cook right in front of you. There isn’t a kitchen so you eat at the bar and the inside area is the kitchen. You know exactly what’s going into your food. The price isn’t too bad either. Half a dozen oysters for $ 13 and each pan roast for $ 21. I think it’s a great price for the amount of food you get! Definitely don’t be intimidated by the line! It goes by pretty quickly.

Went to Tahoe to celebrate my 30th birthday w/my family & the first night for dinner, we ate at the oyster bar! It was sooooo DELICIOUS!!! It’s one of the places to eat that’s open later & seating is VERYLIMITED, but I enjoyed EVERYTHING I ordered & ate everything like I had never eaten before!!! I ordered mussels & oysters(duh… It’s an oyster bar!) & what was placed in front of me were big, juicy & perfectly cooked mussels w/the perfect amount garlic & herbs & a dozen oysters w/black pepper mignonette, Granny Smith Apple mignonette & cocktail sauce! DELICIOUS!!! My husband wasn’t as thrilled with his selections: the peel & eat shrimp(they were pretty small) & the jambalaya(the chicken was tough), but he’s also not that big on seafood altogether. The prices were very reasonable & the staff(even though busy) was very attentive! I’m going to Tahoe in a couple days & am really hoping to be able to eat @ The Oyster Bar again! Mmmm…

Here’s the short and dirty: We really, really wanted to like this place and were so disappointed. The experience as a diner is not quality. Ambiance 2⁄5 What I will say is the aesthetics set the tone for the meal. I felt as though I was in an interrogation room with how bright the lights were. It is definitely not a romantic or moody vibe whatsoever. Stainless steel, super bright, and small. This did not lead me to want to sit and sip prosecco while ordering continuously and chatting with my husband for hours(thus, giving the establishment more money). This is an eat and get out kind of counter. The graphic branding, however, was lovely on the menus and chalkboard behind the chef area. Cleanliness 1⁄5 The bar was covered in old plates, glasses, and soiled napkins. All open seating had previously client’s used plating there. All the hot sauces were covered in grime as well. Gross. Food 2⁄5 Two out of the dozen oysters we ordered were rancid. The rest were subpar at best. A few of the oysters were also very small, a little larger than the size of my thumbnail. That made me a bit irked to know I was paying $ 1.75 for something so small, especially when the quality was not impressive. Also, the oysters were not served on ice, they were served on what I can only describe as a wilted salad with warm lemon slivers. I have never seen that before and made me curious about the temperature of the oysters. They were mostly edible, which is why this gets a 2 and not a 1. Service 2⁄5 –We were not given place settings and napkins until we asked for them(while being surrounded on both sides with unbused settings). –The oysters came out before our drinks, even our water. –No one told us where the oysters came from, what kind they were, or what the three sauces served with them were. We flagged down Erika, the one server, to inquire about them. Here is where I say that the saving grace is Erika. She keeps the place running and is the only smiling face. Three people were working today and it wasn’t enough to attend to each client(essentially it’s one server and two«chefs»). When we told her about the rancid oysters she offered to replace them and when we said no she took half the price off the bill to compensate. We thought that was very appropriate and appreciated that. We won’t be back unless this place gets an overhaul and some upgraded service.

Love their House Pan Roast! Made a trip out to Tahoe just to dine here. My husband and I ordered two dishes of the oysters on half shell, house pan roast and their bouillabaisse. Everything was fantastic and full of flavorful spices! The oysters were super fresh and creamy which is why we had to order another dozen! The house pan roast was definitely my favorite. There were ample amount of seafood such as crab, lobster and shrimp! Very fulfilling! :) This dish paired very well with a bowl of white rice. This restaurant is located in the Hard Rock Hotel. Parking is free at their parking structure. It’s nice that they’re open 24 hours! This place only provides bar seating — not a restaurant with tables! Come here hungry and you’ll definitely leave here with a happy belly! :)
