Backpacked into star lake with about 6 others. I must say that while carrying a 35−40lbs pack it gets to be draining. 9 miles with much of it incline with many cutbacks. Once we made it to Star Lake though it made the trip well worth it. Beautiful lake with lots of fish and not many people at all. I believe there was one other little group of four people there but where we set up camp you couldn’t even see them.

All the segments of the TRT that we’ve hiked have been well laid-out, maintained, and marked. Their maps are excellent and are available at the trailheads and online

Why wouldn’t someone want to experience any part of this trail? Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America. When I was here with LLS we stayed at Hyatt at in Nevada on the beach. The day we did hiking there was ton’s of people out on the trail. The part of the trail we were on was mostly singletrack. I remember there was a group of guys mountain biking, they were having a bachelor party. I find that people usually tend to be friendly and good spirits when out the the trail. When we stopped for lunch we had a gorgeous view overlooking The lake. We only hiked a small section that day, there’s much more of this trail to discover. Enjoy your journey, bring water, snacks, and all the essentials.

160 miles around Tahoe. Can access v near the Stagecoach Express lift. Large parking lot there. For those staying at Ridge, between tennis courts and Naegle 12 building, access too. Easy to moderate hiking at one’s fingertips. Go for a while or a jaunt!
